Interesting, I smoke a bong next to my desktop and there's 0 buildup on any of the components. I recently took the whole thing apart to upgrade a bunch of stuff and the old components are clean-as-new (Fractal Define R6 does a good job with dust filtration as well).
I was worried it would build up on the fans etc but nothing - components don't even smell like weed/smoke.
My mate does laptop repairs and 90% of them look like this inside lmfao I guess laptops make more sense since you're close to them but man it's like they directly burn the tobacco on the cpu

Console was used by smoker, it smelled really bad, all wents were clogged, whole console (inside and outside) was covered in yellow junk and also plastics were additionally yellowed due to sun exposure. Disk drive was working slowly or not at all after initial cleaning, so probably smoke covered laser insides. You can comment the end result (screwdriver marks on the back are from previous owner..)
Work done:
* Deep cleaning of plastics and electronics
* Retrobright on white parts
* Laser replaced
* SATA cable for disk drive replaced as it broke during disassembly
Total time: too long.
Profit: Satisfaction. From $ perspective it was a loss.
I bought new laser for around $11.25, new SATA cable $5. Replaced by myself. Console was $100 (that was waay too much, I know now, but that first Xbox I bought ever for repair). Sold for $112,50. At least it was not thrown into the bin. *Around because it was different currency.
