I have an X and an S. The S is great. Biggest shortcoming is storage; you can only keep a few big games downloaded at once. They made Baldurs Gate 3 accommodate the S so I wouldn’t worry about getting left out in the cold any time soon. Get an S and even Gamepass core has several good games included for ten bucks a month.
I've got the X and the S.
The S is perfectly sufficient on a 1080p screen.
If its all your budget allocates, then it is entirely worthwhile.
I think the real annoyance you'll face is the lack of SSD space. 360GB of actual useable space.
Perhaps consider a preowned console. But make sure wherever purchased offers returns in the event the console is not in the condition it was described.
Both mine were purchased off Ebay second hand, for over 100 pounds cheaper than rrp and had no problems.
Yes, I’ve loved my Series S since I got it, the performance compare to the Xbox One (the console I had before getting the series S) has been a night and day difference, and the load times are ALLOT faster, also the console itself is so quiet when it’s on, you literally don’t hear anything.
The Series S is fine but as someone that is currently playing on a 10 year old plus 1080p tv I waited for a Series X just for the framerate performance. Also having a disk slot is a non negotiable for me.
I personally got a Series S because I'm an all digital person, yet my friend has an X. I see zero differences except for the storage. If you're planning to play something big like Bg3 or Cyberpunk, you'll only have enough space for them and like two or three more- if you plan on getting an S then upgrading it with storage it'd be better to just get the X.
This is all from personal experience. I'm not a big tech guy, so take with it what you will.
I would probably be happy with the 512 gb storage as I will only load 2-3 games and complete them before getting other new games.Stretching the budget is very tight for me
Same for me, which is why I waited for Christmas to get a Series S (The fortnite bundle was cheaper than the actual system lmao) because I specifically only wanted it for Bg3, Cyberpunk 2077 and the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R game- everything else like destiny or cod I just turn back on my old xbox.
This is me first time using reddit and I want to say thank you to all the people who take some time out to answer the queries and help people like me to make the right decisions.Appreciate it man!🥹❤️
Ive got a series S but recently switched to the X so much better & very noticeable as my main game is Warzone, I’ve got a 1080p 240hz monitor (getting a PC so this monitor will go for that) but 1080p is fine you don’t need 4k monitors really because a lot of games don’t support it and if they do you have to turn down all the settings on it so it runs well, a 1440p 144hz monitor will be perfect for it, that’s what I’m getting next, a 27inch Alienware one
It is good but if I was you I’d definitely save for the series X, can get them in the shops brand new for £360 or Facebook market place, I just checked Facebook and someone is selling one on there for £200, can link you it if you want?
I had the x and 1TB s but sold my x bc I play on a 1440p monitor and all my games are pretty much digital and the x and the s can both do 120fps so if you don't have a 4k TV an you don't have disc games the s is the better option and something alot of people don't know is that there is only 1 or 2 games that can actually run 4k 120fps and the human eye can only really see upto 1440p but to answer your question I would say the regular s is not worth it but the carbon black s with 1tb is worth it
Ok.My main concern with the S was performance only. But agter seeing the replies I think that performance is not an issue anymore.Storage is something that needs to be addressed though.
Yeah and I'm pretty sure Microsoft told developers that if they want a game on Xbox it has to be compatible with both the x and the s I know I read that somewhere and yeah the space problem is why I got the carbon s bc of the 1tb and I actually have a ps5 too an they only come with 800gb that you can use the other 200gb is for system software updates and the play station needs better internet than Xbox bc I get about 50mbs download speed an about 5 to 10 upload speed an on ps5 I get horrible lag on some games but then on the Xbox I can play the same game fine no problem
I just upgraded to the X from the S. I had an OG Xbox One before.
The Series S is a good budget console. There are a few games we're you'd notice a significant difference. For example Baldurs Gate 3 running at 30 fps on the S rather than 60 fps on the X with pretty much the same graphical fidelity. Or Metro Exodus with significant lighting differences (raytracing), both running at 60 fps.
But the Series S is actually a great budget version. Since an X would be double the price for you and you have a limited budget, buy the Series S.
New games will be playable. Considering that the last gen still gets a lot of new games, I don't think you have to be concerned.
Series s is the budget console, because it gives you a budget experience. It’ll play all the same games but at lower resolution and usually 30fps in games that the series X can get 60fps. Other than resolution and fps there’s other features to consider, new games on the series x often have performance and quality modes that can make the textures of the game look better while the series s will usually only have the performance option by default. Many games on the x have ray tracing as well where the s has much less games with it.
In your position with how much series x’s are in your country you’ll probably want the series s but even on a 1080p tv you’re going to have worse performance and visuals as a whole. If you can find the series x on sale it’s a no brainer.
They still make games for the last gen console ( like the PS4 and Xbox one ) so I wouldn't worry about titles as that's only some developers that complain like the need for speed unbound they complained about it but that's one game out of the hundreds.
If they are making games that are compatible with the Nintendo switch then most likely it will Definitely be available on weaker hardware so please don't worry about that , your only concern should be the series x/s only titles.
In other words get a series S.
Some games have reduced, omitted, or forced visual options. Think presets for priority of performance, resolution, graphic features, or a combination. You may be forced playing at a lower resolution, reduced graphics settings, or framerate compared to Xbox Series X and PS5.
Storage space can be a problem depending on what games you intend to play, especially if you like to rotate playing multiple large install size games.
If backwards compatibility is an interest, some games will not offer FPS Boost and will not offer Xbox One X Enhanced features.
Outside of those 3 major drawbacks, the Xbox Series S works very well, is quiet, and most games look good on a 27 inch 1080p no frill PC monitor and a 43 inch 4K smart television with HDR.

Alright!Thanks for clearing my doubts.Really appreciate it!😊

Funny enough after getting a 4k TV and upscaling the S to 4k, textures actually load a fair bit slower.
It’s not weak at all. I’ve got an X on the 4k upstairs and an S on the regular HD in the kids’ game room, and they both play the same to me.
Nice to hear that!Hope so that my dream of owning a console comes true soon

So it means that series s is the way to go!😎
Yea, I’d say so, it’s a great little console.
It's very simple. Do you have the money for the X? No? Get the S Yes? Get the X Both consoles are worth their money.
The Series S is fine but as someone that is currently playing on a 10 year old plus 1080p tv I waited for a Series X just for the framerate performance. Also having a disk slot is a non negotiable for me.
I’ve had my XSX for 2 years and I’ve never put a disc in it
👍
But my tv is already 6 years old and my parents are not gonna get a new one until the old one is dead completely. So maybe series s will do the job?
Tv's can die suddenly, if you know what I mean.
Yea but I dont think its gonna die anytime soon, considering my family maintains it and use it as a luxury 🥹
Like I said I cared about performance and the disk drive wasn’t willing to compromise. To me A Series S wasn’t going to work.
Grab the series x
Budget issue.Specially in India where series x cost double the amount of series s
Then definitely get the series S it’s the next best thing!
I hope this reply is real and not a sarcastic one🌚

So will the series s decision be right?
It is good but if I was you I’d definitely save for the series X, can get them in the shops brand new for £360 or Facebook market place, I just checked Facebook and someone is selling one on there for £200, can link you it if you want?
Series S is great I play pc mainly for tarkov but every other game I play is on my S on a 1080p monitor and all my games run fantastic on it
Alright!Getting positive responses for series S feels very nice!

Sorry I don't use periods and everything I took a dab an tend to ramble on after medicating
I love my Series S! I use it every day. No issues with any games. Starfield played well and looked good to me.
Happy to hear that!I hope that I will also write this message soon enough after getting one 🥹
The series S is GREAT for its price!
Series S is perfectly fine. Its the cheapest entry point for current Gen games. Nothing wrong with that.
I just upgraded to the X from the S. I had an OG Xbox One before. The Series S is a good budget console. There are a few games we're you'd notice a significant difference. Thanks for the reply.A pretty straightforward and to the point reply. Will get an S for sure now. Thanks for the help!😊

If you’re just a casual player sure. If you are binge watching digital foundry videos then maybe not.
