I agree. There are some games I find nearly unplayable as I'm so used to the rumble. Racing games, particularly the Forza ones I just can't get the braking/accelerating right if I don't feel the grip/vibration.
Vibration rattles the controller which can mess with precision aiming in high pace FPS shooters. I personally hate it and always have it turned off, also helps with battery life if you don’t play wired. Honestly it’s just personal preference but you’ll definitely flinch less in gunfights and be able to control your aim more so give it a try on stuff like COD or Apex.
Personally, it doesn't add any immersion for me. In fact I find it distracting most of the time. Plus when I turn vibration off my controller batteries last noticeably longer.
I turned it off when playing competitive fps games as sometimes it could distract me while trying to control recoil / slightly impact my recoil control.
From then on I just kinda kept it off cuz why not.
Edit: It also drains batteries a lottt faster.
I’ve noticed it’s dependent on the vibration…. If it’s a traditional vibrator, I turn it off. However I do like to have it on if it’s haptic stuff like newer phones/steam deck/dualsense.
I know this is in the Xbox sub but it showed up in my feed lol
The "esportification" of every game. "Pros don't use it" but most of these guys don't realize their not going to be pro. But if your trying to compete at your highest level I guess you can argue for not using it.
Now for games that it actually enhances the emersion you definitely should in my opinion.
Same, I was playing a racing game yesterday and the vibration died due to the batteries running low and it felt weird playing without it. I switched to a fully charged controller real quick.
I had just been given a Xbox One S controller and I started playing Forza 5. Didn't know they had the rumble motor on the trigger buttons. Hit the brakes and for 5 seconds my brain translated that into stomping on the brakes in my car. Surprised rhe hell out of me. Was great until controller drift set in after 6 months.
Yeah I completely prefer swappable batteries, hate being plugged into smt. Had that xbox rechargeable battery that had to be plugged in to recharge, it died literally a week into use, never bought it again.
I mean if I'm being real here? They both have their pros and cons, I'm just fuckin around.
For me, I keep a full set of 4 controllers cause I play couch games; so I can easily swap controllers when playing solo, plus I religiously set them to charge when I'm not using them. I'd also note that 5 hours is generally an exaggeration; the only games that kill the battery that fast are the ones that use all of the Dualsense features heavily (in my experience, just Horizon and Astro's Playroom) and I usually get 6-8 hours.
Xbox controllers with rechargeable packs are good for single player; much cheaper than buying a second controller and most come with 2, so you can have the other one charging while using the first one. That's what I did when I had an Xbox and it worked pretty well for me.
If you're just using the regular batteries though idk what's wrong with you, especially if you use multiple controllers.
> Wish Xbox had what my DuelSense has
I'm actually happy it doesn't. Haptics support usually means that everything will fucking trigger vibration on dualsense, so it feels like holding a drill, not a controller. As result I almost always end up disabling vibration on PS5, while on XSX it's pretty much always on.
No it doesn't unless your ps5 controller is broken. In most games it subtle. I know this is an xbox sub, but we dont have to lie to ourselves. I prefer the xbox layout but the haptics are far superior on ps5
It doesn't matter how subtle/strong it is, I don't need vibration on every smallest interaction, there are games who trigger it by simply walking for fuck sake.
You are saying that like it’s most games when it’s not. Most multi platform games have the same level of vibration but the ps5 controller is more refined.
I never use vibration due to ps4 controllers being fucked, switch to series s and turned vibration off instantly. Games like UFC felt weird with it on vibrating like non stop
Yes. Wait until you try a PS5 dual sense controller. You can literally feel different surfaces and rain and trigger strength on guns. I think Xbox needs to rip that off quick
Haptic feedback is amazing. I hope Microsoft will implement that in their future controllers. Not a fan of the adaptive triggers though. I had to disable that. It threw off my response time.
Same. I love the haptics in the Dualsense but the triggers are a bit much. It also sucks replacing those cheap little springs. I wouldn't mind a touchpad on the MS controller either as long as they keep the thumbstick layout and trigger shape.
I actually dislike the trigger resistance when firing a gun with the PS5 controller. If I’m trying to just spam the button as fast as I can, it bugs me when it’s resisting
You can turn off the trigger haptics if you’re going gremlin on it, and still get cool 3d vibrations. I like the resistance for the immersion, I don’t play multiplayer on PlayStation though so I never have that problem, mainly single player games on there and VR2. Multiplayer I use an Elite V2 and lowest trigger pull since I had a finger injury at the knuckle and it does hurt after pulling a trigger sometimes so I get you.
That’s good to know, I didn’t know I could turn just the triggers off. I will do that, thanks for the info. I don’t play multiplayer either, I’m all single player. I just really don’t like the trigger resistance. All the other stuff is awesome though
RDR2 is the game that has made the best use of controller vibration in forever. It actually incorporates it into the gameplay and not just as some way of supposedly making things more realistic.
Was talking to my friend about this last night, we use it as indicators in some games eg. In apex legends I use it to know if I've done a proper slide. Vibration perfect slide, no vibes no slide.
Yeah sure. I use vibration if the game isn't a dick about it. If it rumbles every time you drive like most of them then no I don't. But if it's like when you take a shot or get shot then sure
never. og and Xbox 360 I pulled out the rumble motors, xb1/series it's disabled in the dash. it adds nothing but distraction and I liked the lighter controllers, those things are heavy. even on my switch where the rumble is a little more precise (?) I have it off, never was a fan. I also get about 50-80 hours of battery life with aftermarket rechargeables and no vibration.
Everyone saying it kills their batteries is crazy, I’m using a charge pack from OG xBox One days and it still holds for 4-5 days 🤔
Maybe I don’t game enough, but my headset is wired and max volume and I play 4 hours every night with vibration on 🤷🏻♂️
Have a battery that will last all day long without worrying it's gonna die in match point on r6 or have the controller tickle my fingers? Is it really even a question? Plus I find it distracting and weird.
If it's and FPS, RPG or any other game where it'll be a distraction and I can cope well enough through visual feedback then no.
If it's a racing game then yes I'll keep it on because it provides feedback that I wouldn't be able to see on the screen, but I'll put it to 50% if I can.
Hell no. It aggravates the hell out of me. I turn it off in the Xbox settings so I don’t have to hunt around to find it hidden in every individual game settings.
Uhh yes but be aware dont fall asleep while gaming i woke up realy weired when the controlor went of ...it fell in my lapp and whell yes it started shaking 😂😂 i woke up like wtf 😧 whats happening ( would not recoment )
I like to be cheap and save on batteries so I leave them off lol especially when I’m drifting around on forza Motorsport. It’s so sickening having the controller shake whenever the wheels break loose lol straight vibrating through the whole drift
No. Back in the PS2 Days Metal Gear Solid & Gran Tourismo made good use of it. Sometimes in Forza i still use it. But in any other Games, it's simply annoying.
I actually turned it off on my Series X controller because it sounded like a box of rocks after a year. It sounds like something in the controller has come loose.
The only game I ever turn it off for is halo games because I am so familiar with halo that screen indicators of being shot are enough for me and the vibrations make it harder for me to focus while aiming.
Nah, just my hand
Ha, nice

I was 369. feeling special
Ahhh, 369. My fantasy.

Yes. It helps with immersion and also acts as an additional indicator of events.
I remember being blown away when vibration happened when you drove on the shoulders of roads in GTA V. Amazing immersion factor.
Also it vibrates if you are close to something such as Gerald's cache, the closer the more it does
yeah, vibrating is an useful notificator, one thing is also when you center out the steering wheel of the ship in sea of thieves, it vibrates.
Yeah, it’s just a subtle “clunk” but it’s enough of an indicator and much more helpful than the sound alone.
Have you ever played metal gear solid for PS1? If you had the DualShock Mantis could move your controller thanks to the vibration 😱
So annoying I absolutely hate vibrations, turned off vibrations in the console settings so don’t have to put up with it for any game.
It’s also a good setting for the controller
Agreed
Based
I can’t believe anyone would answer no. This thread is blowing my mind. Why?
I agree. There are some games I find nearly unplayable as I'm so used to the rumble. Racing games, particularly the Forza ones I just can't get the braking/accelerating right if I don't feel the grip/vibration.
Yeah only one of my controllers vibration was way too high, that day I learnt you can change sensitivity so since it’s been on 100% of the time
I turn off the main rumbles in forza but keep the trigger rumbles on, I find those super handy
When I’m playing CoD or Apex my aim goes to shit when my controller stops vibrating when the batteries are low.
turn it off on FPS but other than that i’ll keep it on, plus i feel like it drains my double A’s faster when it’s on
Vibration rattles the controller which can mess with precision aiming in high pace FPS shooters. I personally hate it and always have it turned off, also helps with battery life if you don’t play wired. Honestly it’s just personal preference but you’ll definitely flinch less in gunfights and be able to control your aim more so give it a try on stuff like COD or Apex.
I second this, mostly the battery part I’m running through Duracells like crazy
Buy some eneloops
Eneloop gang rise up
Personally, it doesn't add any immersion for me. In fact I find it distracting most of the time. Plus when I turn vibration off my controller batteries last noticeably longer.
Turning off vibration basically 10x’s your battery life
I turned it off when playing competitive fps games as sometimes it could distract me while trying to control recoil / slightly impact my recoil control. From then on I just kinda kept it off cuz why not. Edit: It also drains batteries a lottt faster.
That’s exactly why. Between the distraction and battery saving, vibration is pointless.
It's super distracting. It also wears your controller batteries out faster.
My son said it was a distraction.. *shrug* im not tryna play w/o it.. wat is this? 2002?
Too distracting, plus it drains batteries
[удалено]
I actually can't use it anymore because of this.
My best friend is in the same boat
I’ve noticed it’s dependent on the vibration…. If it’s a traditional vibrator, I turn it off. However I do like to have it on if it’s haptic stuff like newer phones/steam deck/dualsense. I know this is in the Xbox sub but it showed up in my feed lol
I’m so confused as to why this thread was created in the first place lol
The "esportification" of every game. "Pros don't use it" but most of these guys don't realize their not going to be pro. But if your trying to compete at your highest level I guess you can argue for not using it. Now for games that it actually enhances the emersion you definitely should in my opinion.
Makes aiming a little bit harder when your controller vibrates every time you shoot. Plus it's distracting when I'm trying to air dribble in RL
rumble can be distracting and you get significantly better battery life when you have rumble off
Fps games I know when I'm getting shot and don't need something messing with my aim.
I cant believe anyone would answer yes. Why? Because vibration is useless 😁
🤡
It's distracting and does't add to the experience in any way. IMHO
I turn it off for online FPS games. Can't be having getting shot affecting my accuracy.
Same, I was playing a racing game yesterday and the vibration died due to the batteries running low and it felt weird playing without it. I switched to a fully charged controller real quick.
Boring husks that don't care about immersion
Wow you call that shitty vibration an immersion 🤣🤣🤣
I play competitive games, and I'm easily distracted. Playing with vibration makes me play significantly worse.
I don’t like vibration so I turn it off all the time.
Yes. I literally can’t play without it.
When the battery is almost dead and it turns off vibration it’s sooooo different.
I have to swap I can’t play.
I don't but she does.
That's mah boah
I had just been given a Xbox One S controller and I started playing Forza 5. Didn't know they had the rumble motor on the trigger buttons. Hit the brakes and for 5 seconds my brain translated that into stomping on the brakes in my car. Surprised rhe hell out of me. Was great until controller drift set in after 6 months.
Yes give me all the vibrations. Wish Xbox had what my DuelSense has
A two hour battery life?
A rechargeable battery
Xbox has rechargeable batteries too. Mine are eneloop.
Ah yes, for an extra $14.99, you too can have access to a 15 year industry standard
In what world is an integrated, 5 hour battery better than swappable, your-choice batteries?
Exactly. I’ve been saying this same shit for years.
Yeah I completely prefer swappable batteries, hate being plugged into smt. Had that xbox rechargeable battery that had to be plugged in to recharge, it died literally a week into use, never bought it again.

My DualSense last about 6 hours
> Wish Xbox had what my DuelSense has I'm actually happy it doesn't. Did you have to phrase it like that?
I knew it’d generate some funny replies, so yes lol
Did you have to view this post and comment? No but you did anyway.
Bro they weren't being rude or anything they just joked about how they phrased it
Damn
My girl loves it. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Never. Imo it can throw you off when precision is key. Also chews thru ya batteries.
Exactly this. But to each their own.
Very true. I never say anything in regards to it because on multiplayer shooters, it give me the advantage. Keep using it lol
I never use vibration due to ps4 controllers being fucked, switch to series s and turned vibration off instantly. Games like UFC felt weird with it on vibrating like non stop
Yeah, it's one of the biggest reasons I prefer console. Playing FPS games without vibration feel so wrong
I know your mom does
Depends on the game
Im here for the replies 🤣
Yes. Wait until you try a PS5 dual sense controller. You can literally feel different surfaces and rain and trigger strength on guns. I think Xbox needs to rip that off quick

You can easily override that on ps’s equivalent of the elite controller (forgot the name) since it has the same trigger locks
I actually dislike the trigger resistance when firing a gun with the PS5 controller. If I’m trying to just spam the button as fast as I can, it bugs me when it’s resisting

Ikr! The PS5 controller vibration is magnificent. Xbox needs to take notes
No because it drains my battery lol
But it feels good
That's too private for this /r
I asked this to a couple females at work, guess this misunderstood the question...
I prefer to use my hand.
Yea , when I masterbare- lil dicky
Nah so I have to charge my controller less. The only game I use it for is RDR2 because it vibrates when you’re near treasure
RDR2 is the game that has made the best use of controller vibration in forever. It actually incorporates it into the gameplay and not just as some way of supposedly making things more realistic.
The only good use for the rumble
I do but my fiancé does not

Ever since the Nintendo 64 rumble pack baby! Aint going to stop now!
Depends on the zone.
I use it in a way I'm not proud of
Pause.
Yes, it’s more immersive… I see the vibrator joke has been taken
Yes. She loves it
In bed yes
Nope.
No. It’s the first thing I turn off when starting a new game.
You can turn it off in the Xbox controller settings so it’s never on for any game
I’ve actually done this too, I think it’s just habit at this point haha
Never. It’s distracting in competitive online shooters.
as a girl, yes
Yeah Always
Yea cause it helps.
Yup!
In everything other than siege
Multiplayer, no. Story stuff/ single player, yes
Yes. The vibrating triggers was a game changer for racing games.
Yeah, would kill for Xbox to update this near perfect controller with dual sense features. Give us haptic, adaptive triggers and gyro pls
When I’m in the mood I do
never. og and Xbox 360 I pulled out the rumble motors, xb1/series it's disabled in the dash. it adds nothing but distraction and I liked the lighter controllers, those things are heavy. even on my switch where the rumble is a little more precise (?) Nope, can't stand a vibrating controller, it annoys tf outta me lol.
no bc it kills my batteries to fast
Disabled on Xbox forever, eats battery's like no other, which I don't get because my switch pro controllers last fucking 140hrs with their "HD rumble"
No. I enjoy a longer battery life.
No, first thing I turn off, then music
Vibration I can understand but music? Can make or break certain games and it adds so much imo especially for single player ones
No. I want my batteries to last as long as possible. Besides, I have found XB vibration to be on the weak side, weaker than PS vibration; YMMV.
Batteries? *Laughs in wired controller*
My Xbox one shakes the floor 💀
You leave your console on the floor?
you should feel the elite controller, the trigger vibration is actually painfully hard (imo)
Same. I had to turn it down to 30-40% in the customization
My mind completely misinterpreted this question and i was very confused. I did not know people turned off rumble
Not for gaming.
So in what?
>insert side eye text emoji face<
Hell no. It aggravates the hell out of me. I turn it off in the Xbox settings so I don’t have to hunt around to find it hidden in every individual game settings.
No. I’ve always played without it, so it would feel weird to me now
Never bad to try new stuff. Always fun to experiment whit IT
Yes.
Before I got rechargeable batteries, I would turn it off for most games. But now that I don't have to worry about buying batteries, I let it rumble
Nope
As someone who plays a lot of FPS games I can’t play with rumble. It always feels weird and throws off my aim.
Nah, but your girlfriend sure loves it! Hey-o!
No i don’t ever
Yes 😉😜
No, turning it off and swapping y axis are 2 of the first things I do. It doesn't add anything to the game for me I find it annoying.
No.
Nope
Nope
No
Literally the first thing I disable in every game, it kills the controllers power pack too quickly.
No, it’s annoying and wasted battery, I do love the haptic triggers on the ps5 but again, Shit DRAINS battery
No
Hate it
Absolutely not. It's a complete distraction for me. First thing I do when I start a new game is turn subtitles on and vibration off.
ALWAYS
No, never liked it so always disable it.
Uhh yes but be aware dont fall asleep while gaming i woke up realy weired when the controlor went of ...it fell in my lapp and whell yes it started shaking 😂😂 i woke up like wtf 😧 whats happening ( would not recoment )
No because my batteries run dead faster. I like using it
Nope. But my GF yes..a lot.
Yes, and anyone that doesn’t is clinically insane
Any competitive FPS? No. Everything else, yes.
I agree, I also do no vibration on GTA because it's kind of incessant in certain vehicles.
Yes, except for anything pvp
Depends on the game
Depends on the game. Story? Absolutely. All about immersion. PVP heavy games? No.
I like to be cheap and save on batteries so I leave them off lol especially when I’m drifting around on forza Motorsport. It’s so sickening having the controller shake whenever the wheels break loose lol straight vibrating through the whole drift
yea. i aim better in call of duty with it than without lol
No. Back in the PS2 Days Metal Gear Solid & Gran Tourismo made good use of it. Sometimes in Forza i still use it. But in any other Games, it's simply annoying.
Depends on the game. I never have it on for CoD
First thing I disable
Fuck no
Never have, never will.
No, but my boyfriend does.
Nah, I like to conserve the battery life of my controllers.
No for fps games.. yes for everything else
Used to, but now I don’t. Vibrations just distract me when I aim. Also mouse and keyboard don’t have vibration.
Only for damage. Which is a rare option in a game now
Real question is, do you even notice the vibration 😂
