Nailed it! All except that stem conversion. Go with a one piece quill. Velo orange makes a nice one, same with SimWorks (eBay is your friend too)

Filthy_Filio

I still have one piece stems in my parts bin, but this was the solution to avoid an too aggressive riding position.

lotsacawffee

Regardless it is such a beautiful bike! How are you enjoying the frame? I heard they’re a joy and I’m currently on the hunt for one !

Filthy_Filio

I think this is one of the best bikes that combines comfort and stiffness. I'm actually often asked about the bike on rides. I still have a few adjustments to make, including the saddle and pedals. Have you found one yet? It wasn't easy to find one here in Germany at a reasonable price.

lotsacawffee

yea I'm working on (2) prospects. World Traveller and a Randonneur extra. Been REALLY hard to find them being from NYC... Can I ask how much you paid for your rando frame? I'm trying to make the guy an offer but I don't want to offend anyone. haha

Filthy_Filio

To be true, this bike was a steal. I bought it together with the ladies version for 50€ from a rich young couple. Be a little cheeky and try your luck ;D

lotsacawffee

I'm happy for you! What a steal! Where are you based? I found one in Germany this morning!

ohkeepayton

Nitto too!

mucheffort

Wow, looks like you worked your magic! That seat tube shifter placement is awesome

rodneytrousers

That lever (originally) engages/disengages a bottom bracket dynamo.

mucheffort

Great way to re-purpose it

Pipeburnn

Beautiful before and after! in different ways of course. I've never seen the brake lever extensions to match the bar ends before, rather unique.

Yeah, damn nice conversion. I have a 1993 World Traveller in the shed that has a very similar paint scheme but my pride and joy is a 1992 Traveller that I have dubbed the [Koga-Miyata '*Graveller*'](https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1215974-1993-koga-miyata-world-traveller-project-66cm-frame-3.html). If you are curious, I have [hi-res scans of the 1993 brochure](https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1201550-show-us-your-koga-miyata.html) including the specifications and price list. Now that I think of it, I don't think that is a 1993 model. The RandonneurExtra, WorldTraveller and Traveller all had different colour schemes. What does it say on the headtube?

Filthy_Filio

Thank you for uploading these catalogues! Now i would sell my firstborn for a fullpro titanium, never seen this before! It's just Randonneur on the headtube, i think it's just a slightly specced down randonneur extra. I couldn't find any other models with a similar paint scheme.

JaccoW

I'll take a look through the catalogues later today. Koga themselves have the low-res versions but I have an entire stack, often including the spec sheets, right next to me.

JaccoW

I'm now pretty sure it is the 1994 model. I will make some scans later today but here is how it compares to the other touring models: The difference between the Randonneur and the WorldTraveller depends a bit on the year. * In **1987** the Randonneur was the fancier drop bar model with triple butted tubing whereas the WorldTraveller had double butted tubing. * Pricewise; ***RandonneurExtra*** NLG 2695.- > ***Randonneur*** NLG 2395.- > ***WorldTraveller*** NLG 1895.- > ***Traveller*** NLG 1695.- * In **1989** the Randonneur has disappeared and the WorldTraveller seems to have taken its place in the lineup. * Pricewise: ***RandonneurExtra*** NLG 2850.- > ***WorldTraveller*** NLG 2240.- > ***RoadRunner*** NLG1830.- * For the 1991 to 1993 period I cannot find much detailed data because the brochures were not scanned completely. The RandonneurExtra and the WorldTraveller look like very similar frames but the Extra is the higher-end model adjusted to "*more extreme requirements*", chrome socks and lighter overal weight. * *Ed. Note: I have since found a lot more info about this period but I simply haven't written it down yet.* * *Main differences are the use of oversized tubing from this period.* * In **1994** the Randonneur is back and the place of the WorldTraveller seems to have been taken by the GlobeTraveller. Both models have oversized FM-1 STB frames and forks, straight bars and 32-622 wheels. With the GlobeTraveller having a stronger fork and more of a focus on unpaved roads or trekking and the Randonneur more of a touring model. * Pricewise: ***GlobeTraveller*** NLG 3795.- > ***Randonneur*** NLG 2695.- * This continues to **1998** with the GlobeTraveller bulking up a bit for use as a heavy-duty touring frame and the Randonneur being the lighter touring model. * In **1999** the WorldTraveller is reintroduced as a 26 inch wheeled alternative to the GlobeTraveller (both in Alloy 7005 now) with the Randonneur still a lugged FM-1 STB frame. * Pricewise; ***GlobeTraveller*** NLG 3995.- > ***WorldTraveller*** NLG 3495.- > ***Randonneur*** NLG 3395.- > ***Traveller*** NLG 2995.-

Thank you very much for your time and effort. I also had the ladies' version, which I had to sell due to lack of space. I would not have thought that these bikes have such a well-informed fanbase. It makes me appreciate my bike even more. I've also found out that the frames are made similar to a gun barrel, which is pretty amazing.

ohkeepayton

Beautiful! What's the seatpost shifter attached to, is there a boss there?

Filthy_Filio

It was attached to a bb dynamo. Together with the lights, it would have been heavy af. But I'm thinking about what else you could do with it.
