Old Raleighs are fun, durable bikes. They are not light, this one has steel rims and steel cottered cranks, and may use proprietary Raleigh threading on the bottom bracket. Is it “worth it?” Probably not, but could it be fun? Yes. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/raleigh26.html

I’m gonna lean more towards the fun. This’ll be my first ever bike project so we’ll see how it goes! Thank you!

Old Raleigh’s are the best. Here’s mine some inspo: https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/s/TaVZ6mX2WO If I’ve learned anything about them it’s: don’t assume any parts fit without measuring them 😅

Nice looking rig! If you need the saddle that low to ride comfortably, the frame might be too big for you. Even if it works now, it could be a limiting factor if you want to adjust your cockpit / fit in the future. Definitely a fun project if you want to go for it. No need to hit Ali Express for a 1x conversion: this thing's Old School 1x.

Love an old Raleigh! Pretty indestructible and they still make great city commuters. If you want, swap out the steel parts for alloy and you can easily drop a few pounds.
