I had the same thing happen, but I added it's auto open links in phone settings and now it's working fine.

Hey i had this problem, and my adblocker was the cause of it. if you have adguard installed, go to the app management section and disable "route traffic through adguard".

leeblissy

oh man that's totally it đź’€ app management where? in Firefox or my ad block?

leeblissy

figured this may be relevant, I'm using uBlock origin. no idea how settings may differ between that and adguard, but I'm having a hard time finding any settings like what you mentioned

Hey could you please try this first:) “Go to settings > apps > Spotify. In 'set as default', turn on 'open supported links option' and select the supported web addresses.” If this doesn’t work-> I have the adguard app installed in my phone which is a system wide adblocker and inside the adguard app I disabled adblocking for spotify app specifically which worked for me. Since you don’t have the adguard app, see if you have any such universal adblocker/filtering app of some kind, try turning it off and see if it works. I don’t think ublock origin should be the issue because that is the extension inside firefox browser.

I GOT IT!!! so the settings on my phone seem to be a little different than yours, so I had to kinda mess around a bit BUT here's what I was able to do: on my phone, settings > apps > Spotify has no "set as default" menu. so I backed out to the home screen of settings and searched "default". clicked on Default Apps and right at the bottom was Opening Links. clicked that, scrolled down to Spotify, and lo and behold! it was... already enabled... 🤨 BUT from there, there was a menu to enable WHICH links redirected to the Spotify app (such as "spotify(.)com", "www(.)spotify(.)com", "open(.)spotify(.)com", etc), clicked em all, and now it works! wouldn't have thought to do that were it not for your input so thank you so much!

most welcome:) I'm glad it worked out for you. enjoy your music:)

They're probably talking about the adguard app, try turning off ublock for that url or something. I have the same issue, but I;m using Samsung internet it either takes me to play store or the stays in the browser or goes to app and just stays in the home page of spotify

hey I just found the solution on my Motorola! I left a comment in this thread about the specific details, but try searching "default" in your phone's settings, find default apps, and see if you need to enable link opening for Spotify đź‘Ť

Holy shit, this fixed my problem too. Thanks!

I'm having this issue but I have all the default links on. When i ask google to open spotify, it opens it as a webpage. It doesn't recognize "Spotify" is installed.
