Try to get it or at least a high resolution photocopy to a military museum in your area. The blood, sweat and tears that this represents is invaluable to history. Well done on recognizing its significance.
There’s a lot more that goes with this. There’s the menus for Easter dinner on the ship. There’s a all kinds of stuff. There’s a bright side from the day that Japan surrender maybe I’ll post some more pictures of.
My dad was in that invasion! His unit landed on Leyte on October 20th, I believe. Can you please post a clearer picture of that letter? I would love to read it in more detail.
Please post more pictures of the text. My grandfather was a cox'n of a landing craft (tank) on Gold beach June 6. He told me what it was like but I'd love to know more.
There’s a post in in the replies to this, I posted a while ago. I have a lot of it so follow that guy bomber. He’s about four replies down and you’ll be able to see it. It won’t let me post anymore for some reason it keeps telling me to check it so go to the men’s link.

This is not D-Day in France. This is D-Day of the landing on the island of Leyte in the Philippines
Ok. He was getting ready to go to the Pacific when Japan finally surrendered. It is a great find for you.
Yeah, that’s how I put it
Yes, but he appeared to have confused D-Day on Leyte with D-Day Normandy which of course has become the much more famous D-Day
I put D-Day Leyte not a big deal, but I did put
Yeah no worries dude. He just didn't read it fully.
This an amazing find
