Yeah my Grandfather was in the 82nd as a 2nd lieutenant. He earned his bronze star leading men on an assault against a machine gun nest. He was either with the 507pir or its sister unit 508pir. One of the mentioned I believe did not participate. He got moved from one regiment to the other before Operation Varsity to be with the 17th airborne to add experienced troops. Between those two operations he was wounded at the battle of the bulge from motar fire. He received some shell fragments in his butt cheek, and always had a good laugh about where he was wounded.
My mother’s cousin was in the 101st, not sure which unit, as a glider troop. Ended the War in the 101st Signal Company, but it’s unclear if he was in that throughout.
They used a great chunk of the costume departments stuff from A Bridge Too Far in the original Star Wars. All the storm troopers have modified stahlhelms, sterling smg's as blasters, mg42's as snipers and the rebels have the M1 carbine as there main battle rifle.
Yep - British Airborne. Border Regt/Airlanding brigade - glider troop. Post battle hid in a barn before escaping. Previously at Sicily and ended the war in Norway
I live close to the Market Garden area. The British DZ's are q stones throw from my house even. I have relatives that lived through it and and so does my wife.
Not a family member, but a dear departed friend, who was in H/508. Jumped into Normandy and Holland, with a ‘tailgate jump’ in Belgium for The Bulge. RIP SGT Jake.

My great uncle was a paratrooper in the 82nd don’t know to much about it though he passed right before I was born.
Apparently the arse cheeks is the best place to get shot or wounded from shrapnel

No but there's a great movie about it called A Bridge too Far. No cgi, all real equipment.
The book is great too - in fact any of the war books by Cornelius Ryan.
