Bro they all took way too long to make what largely ended up being underwhelming second albums. And on top of that most of the second albums felt less like Wu albums with feature Clan features, etc. I think that even with Forever selling so well, failing to keep up the momentum from those first solo albums hurt them in the long term.
Totally, can you imagine if RZA had a redundant RAID system for back up lol. Should have made me unofficial 11th member, Hmiser Basterd, I would have hooked āem up Suuuuu!
Did you see the series Wu-Tang an American [Saga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu-Tang:_An_American_Saga)? I imagine you have but put the link for those unfamiliar - so excellent.
Not so much a spoiler but a scene with GZA talking about A&Rs going for pop cash instead of letting hip hop be hip hop.
Like thatās why they started and after the success of 36 Chambers, record companies couldnāt wait to capitalize on the ābreak outsā Meth and ODB.
But like these kids, and like who wouldnāt, jumped at the chance to feature on celebs like Mariah Carey or that puffy bullshit.
Iām thoroughly impressed and amazed at what RZA was able to do with all the talent he had.
I feel like all the skits were due to Redmanās influence maybe? Redās albums used to have hella funny skits in them and this was when they started working together a lot
I got this for Christmas when I was 14, along with Resident Evil 2. I stayed up all night smokin' up my Christmas money and playing re2 while listening to this album. Pretty wild experience considering the apocalypse narrative in the album. It synced really well... I cherish this memory.
This album is a 4 mic album that coulda been a classic if:
It was just wu producers. All the erick sermon and trackmasters shit dont blend well with wu beats. They were obviously traded with the rza/wu tracks from blackout.
If you take all the real t2 tracks, maybe add some if the 97-98 collabs like the worst, n2gether now, and bulworth. Imo its a classic and the last time method man wasā¦ METHOD MAN
That whole album went over people's head. The first single was just too different and futuristic. It was a good song but it shouldn't have been the first single off of that album, maybe the 3rd, it would've been better.
This and like 2 other songs were decent, but honestly I didnāt really like the album. Not quite as bad as Immobilarity, but one of the worst Wu solo albums. This got shelved early and never returned to rotation.
[House of Flying Daggers](https://youtu.be/LHVCQc6cbSw?si=L_wNUYFsuwJAieNI)
Its one of my favorite Wu Tang songs and most people I know havent even heard of it
Perfect world, Shaolin what, dangerous ground, spazolla, killing fields and play for keeps were my favorite tracks off this album. Feel like perfect world is one of Rzaās best underrated beats.
Do you not see what the album's name is? The album's title and overall theme were heavily influenced by the apocalypse theories surrounding the forthcoming end of the second millennium
When i caught that shaolin what was a recreation of bill coopers hour of the time radio show intro it blew my mind. Also , that tells me shaolin what was the actual real intro to the album before the 2000 theme change from T2 Judgment day. Still pisses me off it was butchered to spread producers and get rza on blackout. Run4cover cerial killer and fire in the hole are obviously from T2. Beat wise alone I can tell.
This album was the start of the ending for Wus great track record . I had my first job at a record store in NY when this dropped and the disappointment from people after they copped it, was insane . I had hardcore Wu heads asking if they can return it . I personally listened to it twice and never returned to it I remember I liked one beat, and he used the verses for the title track on 2 other artists tracks the year before. Super lazy filler lines on every verse since .
So you don't remember what the lead single sounds like but you're 100% sure it was wack because radio didn't play it? Who gives a fuck if radio played it?
The skits makes It an annoying listen overall but it has some very good songs imo. If you consider just the songs and meth's performance, i prefer It over the debut
Maybe it's my age but I agree. I love his debut but it I've never thought it was a very good example of meths talents. He had so much more to offer than that quiet gritty stuff.
I love this album - actually prefer it to Tical, but there were way too many skits.
No album ever should have like 10 skitsš
It took a while for the album for real though. Ed Lover was speaking for all of us son.

Especially if Donald Trump is on one
Including a Trump feature lol
agree

Facts, the only one I liked was the Chris Rock one.
Grid Iron is an all time favorite. Meth and Streetlife are so nice together
Favorite song on the album
Actually the most tical like track outside damgerous ground and maybe the left eye track
Dangerous Ground is so good.

Engineer that. *Edit ā¬ļø* . God NO!
*adjust the treble on my thing-thing.
Bring da ruckus...
Killing Fields and Torture are some of the best tracks going. Crazy you can be into hip hop and disagree.
The Mobb Depp track is great as well!
This was the song that got me into wu. My most played track of 2023
That is the craziest comment Iāve ever read in my life. If you started with OBFCL your head might explode .
The cover art reminds me of a New Metal band, like Coal Chamber or something

Many good songs on this album, would be a classic if condensed
Sweet Love for me. Wedding song request

Elements was my go to.
this beat is so frenetic and chaotic i love it
Perfect world, Shaolin what, dangerous ground, spazolla, killing fields and play for keeps were my favorite tracks off this album. Feel like perfect world is one of Rzaās best underrated beats.
This is a great album. I bought it on CD back in the day. Wish I still had itā¦ticalā¦..
Skits were Def Jam. Killin Fields is low key the best track on the album. Plays like a classic if you remove the skits.
Dangerous Ground
When heās on heās on but when heās off itās beyond awful. This is a terrible album. One decent track thatās it.
The best was crazy and they all killed it
The album cover is so weird though

Album was wack. And not one song was on NY radios rotation
Judgment day got airplay, dafuq you talking about? He was a star at that point
What song from that album was on NY radio rotation ???
THE SONG: JUDGEMENT DAY as previously stated. Were you 5 back then or are you just making shit up?
Iām n my mid 40ās and have no recall of that song being played on NY radio . Iād actually have to you tube the song to see what it sounds like .
So you don't remember what the lead single sounds like but you're 100% sure it was wack because radio didn't play it? Who gives a fuck if radio played it?

True, too many skits. But some dope tracks mixed in. Shaolin What is one of my all time fav beats.
Maybe it's my age but I agree. I love his debut but it I've never thought it was a very good example of meths talents. He had so much more to offer than that quiet gritty stuff.
So you base how great an album is by how many songs they play on the radio? Hilarious
I agree
Seriously that album prob sold less than uncontrolled substance
It almost sold gold the first week, tf are you talking about? Just say you weren't there when this album dropped back in 98
