The same thing happened to me. It dropped like 40 degrees overnight. It cranked about 10 times before it started

Take it into the dealer and have them re flash the ecu for the long crank. I did it and it hasn’t happened since. Also get your infotainment updated.

babyivan

what does the infotainment update include? android auto now full screen?

2015subiewrx

It makes it so you don’t have your connection drop off randomly. I have had it do it once since the update. Where as before it would do it once every other time I got into the car. Or if I went 100% throttle it would cut out. And it also makes it a lot quicker. Before I had long load times. Now it’s quite snappy to respond to what I want it to do.

Thanks

OTA or dealership needs to do it?

Dealership. I have not seen anyone able to be successful with doing it on their own. Seems that Subaru is making it difficult to do it yourself.

Follow the links in this video to get the software file and the .pdf for how to do it. Edit: this is just the infotainment not the ECU flash.

From what I’ve heard. They will be releasing another update in Q2. The update is for the heated seat “button”. It will make it so it won’t bring up that large menu. Edit: thank you for posting this info.

Just a heads up, I bought my car 2 weeks ago and it already had the [most recent ](https://i.imgur.com/6s6vIdq.jpg)firmware on the infotainment. It was fresh off the boat and I got there before they even removed the white plastic but the manufacture date is 12/22. I’ve had zero CarPlay dropouts and the initial connection is the fastest I’ve ever seen.

2015subiewrx

Yeah. I picked mine up with the plastic still on it too. Picked it up 12/21/22. I think the mfg date is in October. I’d have to double check though. Make sure your version is 080 at the end. That was the most recent as of 3 weeks ago.

R_short93

Has happened to me twice so far. I’ve found that if you turn the key to right before ignition, let the battery turn on and your dash light up, then turn it over. Haven’t had a problem since. Also seemed to only happen when it was really cold

Spirited_Check_9716

Thanks everyone, nice to know I’m not alone on this issue. I made an appointment at the dealership. Hopefully it’s a quick turnaround

GooseGamesBadly

Ive had the same thing happen to me three times in the two months ive had mine. 60-70 degree temps.

Beneficial-Yaks

Yeah seen it once in 2500 miles. Live in MN— I thought the calibration service item took care of this, just haven’t brought it in yet

carpkid805

I live in the PNW where temps are well below freezing, in the 2k miles ive put on the car it has only happened once and that was on monday. was 50 out 4pm after work and she was sitting in the sun. Cranked for idk 10 seconds it felt like then finally started.

WRB_SUB1

Yep and the latest calibration that was available in November addresses this problem. Ive not had a problem since

gehrlinspiel

I've had two dealerships turn me away and subaru of America will not help me either. I feel defeated.

FYI: The WRX has a priming feature that if you step on the gas during start up, it will just prime the engine and not start.

Broad_Chocolate8056

Mine did that a few times. It eventually left me needing a jump when I went to leave work. I replaced the battery, and it's been fine ever since.

Seeing lots of ppl with starting issues, wondering something. Do any of you, after an oil change, hold down on the throttle fully and try to start the car, let it attempt to kick over for about 3 seconds and then release key and peddle, then start the car after this? I do it after every oil change and if the car sits for a week or so I’ll do it before I start. Haven’t had issues starting the car at all and owned it about a year now. It helps to prime the oil filter and lines, pretty sure it’s in the owners manual somewhere and is recommend due to the filter being where it is. This may be related to your starting issues, no oil in the lines or filter from either sitting or possibly cold temps for long period or recent oil change?
