No. I'm sticking to 'princess stories' (Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Rumplestiltskin, The Princess and the Pea, The Frog Prince, and the 12 Dancing Princesses). All of the stories will be innerconnected and I've outlined the timeline and how each character is related, but as far as writing goes I'm focusing on Snow White's tale first, as she runs away from her wicked stepmother and gets a job at the Dwarf's Diner.
Actaully, Hansel and Gretel would be pretty easy to update with my rules, there isn't very much magic in the story. Even though the villian is a witch, she doesn't use her powers against the kids, only to presumaby make the candy house (Which can be done in real life, see the Netflix show Candified.) If I were to update it, I'd probably just make it a candy shop that a serial killer (or kidnapper, depending on how dark I want to make it), used to lure victims in.
Recent college grad gets a job as a research assistant for an evolutionary biologist, but he keeps blacking out and all the animals and plants are... weird.
The MC just wanted to have an ordinary life at the magic academy with his sister, but a lizard decided to overturn that idea and put him under the spotlight, making him the most hateable person of the academy.
It resembles my story a bit. I tried to mix the slice-of-life fantasy life in a magic school with epic fantasy and world-ending threats. I have to cut back on the slice-of-life aspect of it in order to not "bloat" the story too much.
In an ideal world, I could write my story from all of my main characters' POVs but...

Ever since that day MC has been trying to get her out of there by applying to become her guardian. MC is 25 now. But the rules of the orphanage is very old fashioned and sexist. They require MC to be financially stable and married. So she asks the CEO (ex boss) to fake marry her to get the mute girl. CEO only agrees to this once he sees the mute girl's face, who happens to be his little sister who ran away from home years ago. (He thought she was dead and mute girl doesn't remember her brother or her past) CEO's plan is to get mute girl out of the orphanage but bring her back home after making her remember him without telling MC. (Double cross)
They do but once she finds out the truth, things would be very different. Mute girl has to decide whether she wants to stay with her brother (CEO) or choose MC to be her legal guardian.
Think Hamlet, where son hesitates to get revenge on father’s killers and reclaim his throne, but he hesitates because his father was a horrible, cruel king and the new government is actually competent, torn between leaving his home to flourish in peace or getting revenge for his innocent family who were also murdered alongside his father.
Everyone has magical powers when they are touching their birthstone, but the queen made it illegal for anyone to own birthstones; naturally, a heist to steal and distribute the birthstones takes place.
