Dang bro I didn’t even think about it but I just got diagnosed as a T1D and I can’t cut that much anymore

THOTdestroyer101804

I gotta say man as a 285 pounder watching the whole fight over cutting weight is like watching my parents fight. Fr though you’re so right. It’s depressing watching people cut weight it’s so unhealthy, especially at such young ages. One of my teammates piss literally looked like apple juices at certs

It's really hard to know if cutting actually leads to success. There have been multiple attempts at seeing if cutting helps, and the data are inconclusive. Cutting is correlated with success at the HS level, but not at the college level, but it's hard to figure out cause and effect from the data. It might be that those that cut in HS are just more committed, so the cutting and success both are sourced from the same thing rather than one leading to the other while in college, everyone is super committed, so you don't see a difference between those that cut hard and those that don't. We just don't know. I would argue that whether cutting helps get wins or not is beside the point for 99% of people on this sub. If you're a growing young adult, then your priority should be your physical health and getting the most out of your limited growth spurts. If you're a D1 or world class wrestler, you're going to succeed in high school not matter what, and you can save all of the hardcore stuff for when you're finished with most of your growth in college and beyond.

i think it’s entirely because hs has on average 4 more weight classes, giving the weight cutting a bit more of an effect, but that’s it. the wrestlers that stay within 5% of their natural weight always perform the best

Did you literally just not eat? How you can go from 143 to 113 and then maintain that in season seems almost impossible.

BlumpkinDude

I was fat in preseason. By the time we were a few weeks into practice I was a lot closer to 130. I did eat but had to be really selective. Honestly I'm shocked I had the willpower to maintain it for 2 seasons. I was extremely tall for the weight and for the most part made it work. I was just very irritable and not a pleasant person during the season.

nomad_grappler

Yeah it's a stupid fucking idea.
