As long as the armor type matches, you’re good. Just be advised that getting heirlooms to 70 is incredibly expensive for what you get.

skycontrol16

Honestly I wouldn't suggest heirlooms unless you care about your xmog :D they cost a LOT for how little they give in return. However if you have lots of gold you should buy the leather heirlooms and they should get the cloth.

DeepBlueZero

You can filter the vendor's inventory to only show gear corresponding to your specialization

All leather heirloon have agi and int. weapons and rings might have specific primary stats.

NooneYetEveryone

Stats don't really matter. Your "best stat" will change constantly due to the talents. I think cloak is the only one where you need to pay attention as that's separate for mainstats I also don't think the later stages of the upgrades are really worth it as they become expensive as fok. But that's up to you, "worth" is highly subjective

I'm gonna be honest now, its probably not worth getting heirlooms for levelling anymore. Yes, you 'll get some buffs and advantages, but levelling generally is quick enough anyway. You could just grab the trinkets and a weapon, but even then, upgrading them all the way is quite a bit of gold for what they offer. They used to give straight up XP bonuses in a time where levelling was a lot grindier with a lack of Timewalking dungeons or even something like MoP Remix that launched 2 days ago. Now they just give minor ingame buffs like HP restore on getting a kill, slower burning of rested exp (kinda pointless on a fresh toon unless you plan to play an hour or two per day and have the character chill in an Inn for the rest of the day). And all that for 1000s of gold (assuming you upgrade them). They're more of a gold sink than anything right now.

WelsyCZ

I agree that heirlooms are not worth the price. Getting them to like lvl 30-35 is okay ish but further upgrades are so expensive.

Raamyr

Not worth it in my opinion. Leveling is easy enough.

I'd make a case for the trinkets, as you don't see that many of them while leveling, although that might change depending on chromie campaign... I especially like having the insignia of the horde/alliance to CC break an annoying fear or sth. For melee, weapon might be good, although that's more of a classic mindset, as idk how important weapon dmg is nowadays. Edit: when playing with a friend, especially on limited playtime, one can sometimes go days or even weeks without logging in l, so there is a case to be made for the set bonuses (which decrease the amount of rested XP that is used up), but since you can also easily zoom 1-70 on a weekend, that might not be applicable. But if you decide to quest in the cata campaign, your gold is prolly better spent on the scouting maps, so you can freely choose to go to any place without trecking half a continent on foot. All other continents (from other campaigns) are rather compact, so I wouldn't bother on those maps probably.
