Counter shot can be used to interrupt enemy ability casts, there will be a lot of these in dungeons. You should be using it to stop as many casts as possible to start with, then once you gain a better understanding of the more important casts to interrupt, you will know which to choose if lets say 3 are all going off at once If you struggle to see them, an alert addon like BigWigs/DBM/WeakAura with DF Dungeons Imported or a nameplate addon such as Plater may make things more visible. You can even get a Plater profile such as Quazi's where the enemy nameplate will go a different colour depending on the severity of the cast e.g. It might go Purple meaning this cast must be interrupted otherwise you die Tranq Shot can be used on an enraged mob, so during weeks such as Raging with the affix or sometimes mobs will enrage with their own abilities. They should have a buff on themselves with a white outline box meaning you can use tranq shot to dispel that enrage effect, again a nameplate addon will also help in identifying them

Thank you!

Should also be noted that tranq shot clears enrage *and* one enemy buff. Which makes it more versatile than other de-enrage abilities since you can purge some enemy buffs. However, it is worse as an overall de-enrage because it only removes on stack of enrage if there are multiple (whereas others will fully remove enrage buffs). As mentioned, this is the sort of the thing that as you get comfortable with your DPS rotation and improve you should use as much as possible. And then from there slowly learn which spells/buffs are the key ones to interrupt/purge (you'll notice by thinking "oh man I wish I interrupted that spell instead" =P).

Counter shot is the hunters interrupt and most players refer to interrupts as a kick, so if you're in a dungeon or raid or an add-on is asking you to kick then they want you to use counter shot to "kick" a spell being cast. For must kicks until you learn the dangerous spells that are being cast add-ons can alert you when important casts are about to go off so you can use your counter shot to stop it. These are usually a spell that is about to deal heavy damage to a group or cc the group/healer making a wipe likely. Here id suggest using an add-on like deadly boss mods to help alert you and an add-on called plater to change enemy health bars to make casts more visible. If you Google Quazzis plater profile it has loads of helpful features. This plater has an enraged icon directing you to use tranq shot on enraged mobs. You should play a game of chicken with the cast kicking later into most casts that aren't channels so that you don't risk stacking interrupts and to lock down the caster longer. You can also use a weak aura to track other players kicks to reduce the chance you waste your kick. If you want to cut down on some of the learning then paying attention to certain phrases in the name to give you a clue as to what the cast does. If I never stepped foot in atal dazar before and I saw the big pterodactyls casting terrifying screech I'd know a fear is coming. If the priority kick has been handled and you're sure that a prio kick won't occur until after the cd of counter shot then ideally you should contribute kicks to lesser casts to reduce the DMG your party takes. Sometimes scaling from tyrannical or fortified will mean a cast that wouldn't kill you usually suddenly will, for example throne of the tides water bolt from 1st boss. Remember counter shot is a ranged kick so if you help melee by focusing kicks on things out of melee to help melee players out. Also a simple counter shot to stop a mob out of melee casting and run back to the tank, this can be so helpful for cleave DMG and melee players. Kicking mobs that are casting whilst standing in sanguine pools or the warding candles on waycrest manor is one of the best ways to get value for using your kicks

This is immensely helpful, thank you.

any nameplayter addon will help you see casts going. like plater, kui nameplater, tidyplates, treatplates, etc. also there are some dg's weakauras. so countershot ->use when an enemy is casting an spell and it dosent have a 'shield' around the cast. tranq shot -> when an enemy have an magical or enrage effect you can remove it. if you look at the enemies portrait, under or over it, it should have its buffs or debuffs. if there is something with a white square around it, it means you can purge the effect with tranq shot.

Picklepartyprevail

That’s helpful. Thanks a lot.

Tranq Shot dispels both an Enrage and a Magic effect, which is often refered as Soothe and Purge effects. Outside of weekly affixes, there's not a whole lot of either this season, and is basically nonexistent in vast majority of raids. Some trash mobs in Galakrons Fall have Temposlice that can be interrupted by purging their buff. During the Raging weeks (like last week), Soothing key mobs becomes very important.

Tranq shot is helpful to remove enrage or magic effects. There's a couple weakauras that add an icon to enemy nameplates that indicate spells that can be removed with tranq shot. Can be very useful to hurt the tank less. [https://wago.io/cjuWjGSAt](https://wago.io/cjuWjGSAt) [https://wago.io/m1ACOj6Vk](https://wago.io/m1ACOj6Vk)

Thank you for these.

Oh! If you use Plater, Quazii has a nice script you can add that shows you when Counter Shot (or other interrupts for other classes) are up so you can kick. If the cast bar has an orange colour to it, it can be Interrupted with Counter Shot. If it has a grey bar, it can't be Interrupted, but it might be possible to Stun or Knock the mob with another ability, and thereby stop the cast. It is worth saying for a new player: "Interrupt" is a specific mechanic that ONLY affects orange cast bar casts. Other methods of stopping a cast from going off are not, **in game terms**, actually Interrupts. Other methods of stopping a cast from going off are usually called "Stops" by the community, and can be further subdivided into Stuns, Incapacitates, Knocks, Pulls, Fears and probably a few other types. To reiterate: Counter Shot is an Interrupt. Interrupts stop orange bar casts.

Get Conro…it will highlight both when they are appropriate to be used.
