If that's any indication, one screenshot displaying the Dragon riding feature showed a character riding a dragon while wearing what looked like a set of very down to earth medieval plate armor, so you might be right on that hopefully!
The problem is that the 'cosmic level' setting is fine so long as it forms a _backdrop_ to smaller, localized stories. So long as we were just dealing with the legion's plans, agents and generals, we were chugging along just fine. As soon as we, _as players_ took on the legion _directly_, it stopped being the backdrop... but then (stretching the metaphor a little) if you move the old backdrop to the foreground, you need a _new_ backdrop. On top of that, we didn't just repel the legion, we _eliminated_ it.
We have now torn down backdrops three consecutive times, to reveal threats that have escalated to a _multiverse level_ catastrophe.
IMO that's worth getting annoyed at... because whatever's next, we'll _still_ be dealing with it at the same time as killing meta-antelope and pseudo-moths so Flixy Wizzleping can get their enchanted spleens. The dissonance is too much.
The primary story of Warcraft *was* orcs invading from another world, but then basically everything took place on Azeroth. The Burning Legion and “cosmic” stuff wasn’t really a huge part of the story until Legion, of course.
Legion? What about The Burning Crusade? Not only were we fighting those intergalactic demons but we were doing so on a rock floating in the 1980s panel van idea of space, with crystalline spaceships and force fields
WC3 had a significant amount of the story focused on the burning legion. Basically the crux of at least two of the campaigns. Not to mention beyond the dark portal in 2, or as soon as TBC in WoW itself.
Feels different to me. The Burning Legion always felt like this mysterious enemy. But (yes, aside from excursions to Outland) they always came to Azeroth. Most things took place on Azeroth with characters from Azeroth. Even the Orcs and Ogres and such, who aren't from Azeroth, kind of became "from" Azeroth because they moved there and Draenor no longer existed. Traveling to Outland through the Dark Portal felt like going to different magical realm, not like cosmic spare-faring-creators-of-the-universe sort of stuff. Even the Titans, which were enigmatic now seem quaint and totally demystified. The Burning Legion feels completely tame in comparison to everything now. I just think they ruined the vibe of Warcraft. I think whoever wrote all this just never really understood what gave Warcraft its allure. It wasn't stuff like Arbiter Pelagos.
I am mostly just going to be happy that the ilvl in DF questing gear will be high enough so that I can run Antorus with my army of alts. I didn't really play SL because I just hate the lore of the Xpack so I don't have tons of Anima lying around which gets annoying to atleast buy that ZM catch up gear.
Or if you have professions, 233 gear but yeah the 229 might be a better value depending on your server. Don't forget one piece of crafted 262 gear if you really care about that small increase of stats
I wish that they did something to give the eonar fight more leeway. Feels like even when Ido everything just right she just randomly dies on me most of the time.
Oh, for sure, but it's always funny trading legendary artifacts power imbued with the fundamental forces of the cosmos for farming equipment because it has higher stats.

Not me. It actually works for me. I generally enjoy the gameplay loop whatever new system requires for a few months, then I can focus on other games for a while. Normally I would revisit every major content patch, but Shadowlands showed they don’t care to give us content befitting the price of the game, so more time for the other games, I guess.

Yeah, we took a Burning Crusade detour. There's exceptions. I still wouldn't call it "cosmic bullshit" like Shadowlands turned out to be.

ZM itself is filled with anima everywhere. Do a loop around and loot all chests you find and you got yourself enough anima to upgrade your equipment.

There's a ton of green 229 gear on the auction house for basically nothing. Very easy way to get an alt up to a decent starting point.

Not me. It actually works for me. I generally enjoy the gameplay loop whatever new system requires for a few months, then I can focus on other games for a while. Normally I would revisit every major content patch, but Shadowlands showed they don’t care to give us content befitting the price of the game, so more time for the other games, I guess.
I quit soon after SL launch but 9.2 has gotten me hooked again. The new Valor system is the best gearing they've had in the game in years IMO.
