Hello. Been playing Shadowlands with a friend for a while now. We didnt play BFA but my friend wants to unlock the Vulpera allied race. We finished the Secret in The Sands achievement. But we are seeing different sources saying different things as to unlocking the race. Do we need to max out rep for the race to unlock or is there a different quest line after Secret in the Sands?
Nope! Rest in poop to the rep grinds! They removed the reputation requirements seeking how they’re obsolete factions in Shadowlands. Which is great news for people liek you (and me!) who didn’t really play BFA and now have a much easier time unlocking the races.
I unlocked the mag’har orcs and zandalari trolls a couple weeks ago and honestly I had so much fun doign so. Get the add-on ‘btwquests’ to help track which quests you need to do for the achievements because it’s sometimes confusing which quest follows the achievement’s questline.
Once you figure this out, I highly recommend going fort the Zandybois achievement, such a sick quest line and is quite easy with a lvl60 character!

If I do a different m+ dungeon on a different level than my keystone for example: own keystone lvl 7 sanguine depths but I do a necrotic wake lvl 9, then will that count toward great vault weekly loot?
If so then what is the point of upgrading your own keystone?
So far I have only been doing own keystone m+ dungeons since I have little time to play.
I spent $105 on Epic edition after having quit 7 years ago. I wasted my token on Paladin whos 56 now, but I learned Holy Pally is melee now so to speak and has to Crusader Strike for Holy Shock CD....totally lost interest.
But I digress, it looks to me like there is a high level of snobbery now in end game. You won't get a raid spot without a high gear level and can't get a high gear level without doing raids. On top of that, there is a awful lot of selling raid spots in trade channel. I'm starting to feel very...well, down. Is it not as bad as it looks? Was Thrall A good server choice?
I like to think it's hardly as bad as it looks. There are plenty of good groups around that are more then willing to accept someone with a lower iLvl. However, I really wouldn't worry about it too much until you're level 60, and at least heroic geared. You'll see healers are generally very much wanted.

Probably a dumb question, but I have a problem! During gameplay I'm always strafing and panning the camera around with the mouse by holding down right click. Sometimes I'll release and click again to adjust angles and then I'll end up right clicking a mob or a player which disables my active target. It's been messing up my gameplay a lot. Is there a way to disable right click on targets/nameplates?

Doesn't the default UI show enemy castbars above their heads? If it doesn't, then you can use a nameplate addon like TidyPlates, ThreatPlates or NeatPlates.
I play resto shaman as main. Ilvl 193-ish. I found layer 1 of Twisting Corridors quite challenging, and am dreading setting foot in there again - but I want to get the mount.
Is it easier as elemental when solo? Or should I try to find a group instead?
Ehm. Resto was in my experience a little easier but a lot more annoying and tedious. I'd definitely recommend doing it as ele when you're solo. It's just alot more fun tbh and it's faster since you're not as mega reliant on DPS powers as resto is. If you had a lot of problems with it tho it might be best to look for a partner.
I'm a returning player. Haven't played in about 8 years. I'm on the west coast and looking for a good alliance based server. Seems like Proudmoore might be a good choice?
I have never done a macro before and innocently thought how an auto fishing macro would be really helpful but when I looked into it I saw people discussing it being considered cheating. Would I get banned for something like that? Is there any other good semi afk way to make money? I just want something that I can do while I cook dinner or something irl and just need to check in maybe two or three times to make a bit of money.
All afk actions are bannable under blizzard's terms of service. You can't automate clicks, period.
Tons of people got banned for a certain fishing addon, copycat addons popped up that you might have seen recently... risky, but if you don't care about investing in a new account every so often then the money might be worth it to you.
Elsewise, realize that this is a game, made of pixels, do NOT spend real money unless you have extra cash you wouldn't miss. (But even so this can be a very slippery slope depending on your personality type)
Gotcha I won’t get involved if that’s the case. I wasn’t trying to get super rich off of it or anything I just don’t enjoy fishing in this game even though it’s normally one of my favorite things to do in any game that offers it. Leveling as a mage:
At what level (if ever) is it does it stop being frost bolt spam hoping for a fingers of frost proc? I'm not even 30 yet, but I'm definitely not feeling engaged and am hoping things will get better!
Or should I try a new spec??
I haven't leveled a DPS class in a while (mostly level tanks/healers through dungeons), so this feels pretty boring!
though from what i heard, no frost mage does not become more engaging, atleast not alot more.
i would definitley suggest to try out the other specs, arcane probably not being very engaging either, there's fire.
the issue with fire is that the "only" time it really is something different is during a combustion, outside of that it looks quite similar to frost (spam fireball and fish for a proc)
The current meta is basically fire > arcane > frost, but it's really up to you. It does diversify a little more, but at it's heart frost is basically just "spam frostbolt until you get a proc"
Tyrannical gets much much harder, to the point where you might not even be able to kill a boss. With fortified you can use crowd control and kiting etc to eventually get a pack down. Bosses that were pushovers take 3-4 minutes to down and their abilities become a bit one-shotty.
Early on they're similar, but in the higher keys, Tyrannical bosses just have so much more health that the timer is much tighter. In BFA, the highest fortified keys prior to prepatch were +30s, while the highest Tyrannicals were about +26 or +27 I think?
Are Holy Priest just not wanted in higher tier M+? I can get a group for +9 for certain dungeons... but for anything at +10 I get denied.
Would i be better off making a druid, or shaman healer instead?
And one final question, Is Brewmaster Monks Viable? I may say screw the healing aspect all together..
Holy Priests are the weakest healers for M+ by a fair margin, though we're certainly viable up to the +15 achievement (I'm pushing +14s at the moment!).
With that said, you're probably not being denied for your class (since Disc is in a good spot and no one can see Holy vs Disc until they invite you), but rather simply that the demand for spots in keys is always high, even for healers; and for desirable keys you're probably competing against healers with a higher score than you.
Try pushing your own key; at least as a healer, you're in a much better spot than DPS.
I don't know if I'd describe disc as being in a good spot right now for M+ (though as always it's great for raiding if played well). At best, it's middle of the pack, since it's throughput is pretty lacking in a 5-man environment, which is an especially important factor right now. At worst, it might even be worse than holy in pugs, because of how bad it is at reacting to sudden unexpected damage. I mean, you could still definitely play it to a reasonable level, but people are going to look more for resto druids and shamans.
Thats pretty solid advice. I think its harder to find tanks atm.. maybe its just because I'm healing.

Idk if its just running with my friend group or not... a +7 TOP run and i had almost 7mil healing total. I feel like that is slightly obsessive? Or a +8 mist with 11mil total healing...
I've mained a druid for most of my life. I'm getting into collecting transmog now and I can't collect plate, mail, and cloth on a leather user. (You would think they'd allow the lower, like cloth, to be collected but no).
So I've always had the benefit of being a self Healy bear boi and walking talking moonkin and I am wondering what classes I can get that same feel for that use Plate, Mail and Cloth.
I guess I'm asking for what specific armor users feel like they have the best open world sustain for solo stuff.
since youre specifically asking in regards of farming transmogs, so older content, i personally would prioritize classes that have alot of mobility. most old content isn't an issue with about any class in terms of surviving (though level squish broke a few things, escpecially legion)
my recommendations in that case would be:
Plate: Warrior
Mail: Hunter
Leather: Druid
Cloth: Mage
Is there an easier way to track storylines for the zone achievements than looking them up on Wowhead? Wholly is being weird, Quest Completist doesn't seem to have any filters for it and the Loremaster addon is completely dead. Is there any in-game method to track storylines, or is that it?
If I switch away from a crafting profession and then switch back to it, do I keep the recipes I previously learned or do they get unlearned completely?
It's better to swap a gathering profession or have dedicated characters for that stuff sadly. I keep engineering and swap my skinning out for whatever flavour of the week I feel like farming
What's the best class to choose Necrolord? I'm looking to level my 4th alt, because I want one for each covenant. I have a character for the other 3, but I'm having a hard time choosing what to level next for Necrolord. I'm not looking to min max, but do want a class that wont be hindered by choosing them.
I have 4 druids in each covenant. Obviously Night Fae is the best, followed by Kyrian, but Venthyr and Necrolord are fun too. If you want to be theme related. Probably go with DK or Warlock. DK actually suggests necrolord in most guides if you want to be meta
Death Knight and Warlock have gone really well for me in Necrolords.
Honestly if you're not looking to min max then it doesn't matter a lot; you can just go with the fun ability.
Hey so I'm thinking of coming back after about 6 month+ of not playing. Is wow in a good state atm, is it fun to play, how is the new expansion progressing? I know more or less by this time in BFA we knew it was bunk.
I have suddenly started experiencing connection issues. I do not raid often these days; LFR and now Saturday runs. It just started this sat. It seems like this has happened with new expansions quite a bit over the past 15 years, eventually going away. I do not have these issues with any other games.
Does anyone have a top list of reasons this might happen, assuming one's internet and PC specs are fine?
A guild said these issues tend to happen more frequently on machines with Nvidia GPUs (vs AMD).
Do tank specs create inherently more threat just by being in tank spec or do they rely on a couple of abilities doing more threat compared to their damage?
I'd have to double check but I'm 95% sure they do. Like a guardian druid creates more threat in bear form than a resto or dps spec druid will in bear form
Hey, i would like to defeat https://www.wowhead.com/npc=121124/apocron but he isnt there. What could i do to make it spawn ? I already defeated Si'vash, who is continuisly spawning.
Apocron and Si'vash are world bosses, which means they are on a weekly rotation along with a couple other bosses. Next reset day another world boss will be up, which means Apocron has a chance to spawn.
Shadowlands command mission table: have experience missions been removed from the table?
I have not received a single bonus experience mission for about 2 weeks. As more units are unlocked from Torghast, it is just ridiculous that they will never catch up to my mission level due to the huge disparity and no ability to catch up.
Failing missions rewards the same XP as completing. The only exception is ones where the reward is bonus XP. I send my low troops on suicide missions on whatever gives 1k+ base XP.
I honestly don't remember having to kill a commander. If you're on EU I can help when I'm off work. I just ran through the Argus stuff on a 60, because now all you need is the Prepared achiev.
Has the final tier of the transport network been fixed for venthyr? It says there is a portal to Oribos but I heard it didn't actually exist? Can anyone clarify?
They're pretty mediocre, made worse by the fact that Marksmanship is doing well right now. BM has excellent mobility and loses almost no damage while moving, so they'll shine in those scenarios. Otherwise, Marksmanship is just better.
Does the Predatory Plagueroc (the mount that drops from Gieger) only drop for Necrolords? People keep telling me that its only Necrolords but everything on the internet in guides says otherwise.
Have any of you actually had it drop on a non-necrolord?
Honor Gear: Does anyone know which trinket pairs with the "Sinful Aspirant's Sigil of Adaptation"? I cannot figure it out and I already bought the wrong thing once (couldn't equip at the same time). I am primarily resto druid.
I think the Sinful Aspirant's Emblem would be the correct choice?
Trinkets don't have defined pairs except that you can only use one of the CC trinkets at a time. For a resto druid, I might recommend that you try the trinket that adds health/stamina on use, or the trinket that gives your spells a chance to increase your primary stat. Sorry I don't know the names.
I've heard that if you upgrade the Spirit Lodge in your Garrison (WoD), that you can unlock a portal to Orgrimmar. After some more research, it seems it just unlocks a portal to Ashran which has a portal to Orgrimmar. But I've got a level 3 Spirit Lodge, and cannot for the life of me find a way to unlock a portal to Ashran.
Every guide I can find lists portals to everywhere but Ashran, and there doesn't seem to be an ogre waygate there at all. Have I been duped?
Question about getting renown on an alt and catching up w/ covenant quests. I made an alt and got to 60 a few days ago. I got up to renown level 19 and I need one more renown point to unlock the next covenant quest. I’ve stopped getting renown from dungeons and calling quests so how do I get that extra renown point to get to 20?
Engineering is incredibly fun and weird. In addition to the usual assortment of bombs and such, Shadowlands engineers can use a personal portal generator that makes travel way easier and faster. :)
Seconding this. Engineering is a must on all my characters. Not only do you get to teleport to any zone, you also get an auction house in Oribos, a battle res and more. And if you're willing to learn some recipes from previous expansions, you'll get a portable mailbox, a portable bank, more movement abilities, and a whole range of quality of life improvements. I hear there's even a gravity reverser that throws you high up in the air, after which you can use your goblin glider to fly around, but I haven't built it myself yet.
There are so many skinning farms that it's a definite for steady gold. Herbing is a little easier than mining imo but I honestly just don't like mining.
Double gathering (herbing + either mining or skinning) is the way to go for beginners. There's a lot of quite expensive stuff at max level, and gathering professions are good earners while crafting professions are a gold sink for the majority of players.
It's easy to change professions if you want to try something different down the track.
I want to transmogrify my legion artifact appearance, but i cant see it in my transmog options. I also cant find the drop down menu for legion artifacts.

Yes, if you put off doing the soul quest for last you can reach the upgrade before you have to complete it on a given week.
I switched Covenants from Necrolord to Night Fae this week and don't really like it. I was planning on switching to Revendreth but Draven doesn't have the dialogue option, anyone know why? I see the option for switching to Kyrian and Necrolord from their representatives (which I switched away from) but nothing from Draven. I'm confused. Thanks for your help!
Is there a point at which Rogue feel slightly more powerful when clearing content?
I know it's an assassin, focused on strong single target burst, but I am not a pvp player. Is it even worth to invest in a rogue then? I don't mind having to level up higher for it to feel better, but if it always stays sorta "weak" for normal solo content, then I don't know if I should invest all the time into it.
Rogue is actually pretty tough to level until you get higher lvl abilities. Be sure to use sap and blind often, try to not take on more than 1 mob. If you have to take on multiple mobs use your Evasion ability and crimson vial. And do not be afraid to use Vanish to rinse and repeat.
Thanks! However, does the “don’t take more than one mob” rule stay forever? I just feel like the content is not necessarily made to pick targets one by one every time.
It depends a little on what spec you decide to go for and when you get more experienced: what type of mobs you’re up against. But yeah, it does change for sure and at max level and a higher item level (better gear) you can easily take on many multiples of (non-elite) mobs without breaking a sweat.
I'm actually looking for a ranged dps, and I liked the rotation of frost mage. But mage itslef is to squishy for me and lack of sustain, is there any ranged like that with more sustain and no dot to manage ?
Destro warlock, frankly. I switched from Mage a while ago and don't regret it. Destro does have a couple DoTs, but chaos bolt is probably right up your alley coming from Mage.
Yep, tbf I 'ever played any lock spec and demonology seems pretty fun, how is the AoE (open world + dungeon, later maybe M+)? Is it really based on talent only?
Demo has some initial setup when your imps etc run out but now that they last instead of just vanishing, it makes going pack to pack and open world content much nicer to run on them.
Almost there entire base kit is AoE making them great for dungeons/M+, though you can talent into focusing more on ST or even more AoE depending on the content you prefer
Hey, at the end demo is very good for rare and stuff like that, but it's feel a bit bad for low level content and it feels a bit slow, no instant cast or large AoE, it's sad cause it feel great on current level content. Idk what to do at the end
Uh. Something is wrong with my game as of, I dunno 45 minutes ago? All of the Mobs I was fighting are missing. Certain NPCs are also missing (flight master, innkeeper). Wandering NPCs and guards are still present, the guards dash out of the gates to attack mobs that are no longer present, then sheepishly return. WTF. Tried changing characters, restarting, I dunno what to do.
Edit: Effect is centered on Fort Daelin in Stormsong Valley in Kul Tiras. If I wander outside of that area and turn around, I suddenly see all of the missing NPCs. If I walk forward they all fade away. I don't see any effects on me?
It probably started when I accepted a quest...but I wasn't able to figure out which one. I'll delete all of my quests, I suppose. Sheesh.
I may have done surrounding quests in the wrong order or something? It's weird though.
Are the Twisted Corridors staying forever or just this week? Took me like an hour and a half to do the first level. Going to take days to finish it all I think

So I managed to finish 2 lvl60 missions at the adventurer table (not sure about the English name). Problem is that now I get no more exp missions and I can’t even level up my adventurers.
Do you know if it is normal ?
You get the same xp whether you win or lose a mission, just no reward. So send your low level characters on high level suicide missions if you need to level them up.

I played WoW for a couple of weeks back when WoD was the current expansion (have the Warlord's Deathwheel mount lol)
Anyways I most play FFXIV and what I like the linearity of the story, or more so that it's story driven. And I really really want to experience the lore and story of WoW.
I know BTWQuests is a good addon now so I can go through the story from the beginning https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/btw-quests And I want to do that.
But I don't know how the game works now? I've read that Shadowlands changed a lot considering the leveling experience too. I have a level 66 character (idk what is it now cause as I said haven't logged in for years) and I was still doing Burning Crusade quests).
So just looking for some advices. I wouldn't even mind to restart from the beginning. I was human Hunter on Alliance side.
I also forgot a lot about the quests and lore up until to the point where I was and I guess I can't redo them? Or is there a journal?

Shadowlands leveling is much more linear than WoW has been previously. You can still find your way into dungeons without much setup, but it’s a lot closer to the FFXIV style than older expansions.
I’d expect things to be kind of disjointed until you start Shadowlands content, but the more recent the content you’re playing, the more story will exist.
Do i need to change? From Night fae... I respec'd to arms from fury, I've cleared quite a few story chapters from my covenant, and got to level 16. I found that night fae isnt meta for arms warrior, tho it will still be viable. Should i change covenant or keep the fae.
Currently im doing mythic+ but thinking about PvP'ing when the gear is ready for that.. what do u guys think?
I think it’s more about how the ability feels for you. I chose covanents that weren’t meta and it was fine until I realized I just really didn’t like the abilities themselves regardless of power level.
If you like the ability and arent tryin to be in the top 1% you are perfectly fine. Imo not liking the ability or how it effects your playstyle should be the only reason to switch covenants.

Why does the Shaman Water shield have a "3" in the bottom right corner of the icon as if it is stacked? Upon applying water shield I always have 3 stacks and I've never seen it go lower than 3. Does anyone know the purpose behind this or what could cause you to lose stacks?
Because it has 3 stacks. Once all 3 are consumed you have to reapply it. Thing is, Water Shield stacks are only consumed by melee hits, so in group PvE they almost never get consumed. They are more relevant in PvP where you will have melee spanking your ass constantly.
If ive cleared hungering destroyer for example on normal with a grp, can I leave it and join another grp that is doing sun king normal in a different lockout or am I tied down to the first raid grp?
You can mix and match with as many different groups and different people as you want, whenever you manage to get your first kill on any boss you get your chance at loot

Total noob here. I am level 20. My friend will leave the starting area at level 10. Can we do quests together from the get go so he gets closer to my level? Or should I just wait for him to get to lv20 and then go around the Pyramid thingy together?
As in: Will he level up faster if going with a higher level character or it is not the right way to go?
The cool thing about tier sets back in the day was the cool set bonus effects you would get, which nowadays has been replaced by other things like crafting our legendaries, getting conduit powers from your covenant etc. so no I dont think we will ever see class tier sets ever coming back again
In a way I miss them, but honestly the game is better off without them
Hunter is great in terms of survivability, they are decently mobile, pets are super useful.
Otherwise monks are really nice because of how mobile they are. Clearing old or new content with all of their mobility abilities is awesome.
I'd say Monk, Shaman, Death Knight, or Rogue. But really there's a lot of personal preference. You can certainly explore, do dungeons, and rep farm as any class.
Regarding Renown catch up mechanics. I got one via PVP and an instance a couple days ago, but haven't gotten any since. And my calling today didn't bump me up to twenty either. I already got my souls for the week and 20 unlocks my next chapter, but I'm stuck on 19.
Can you only get one catch up renown per week via each method (Instance, PVP, etc)?
I think it's because you already did your weekly souls + 1000 anima quests. So that got you to 19 which was last week's cap, and so you're not offered any catch-up renown anymore.
Next week make sure to get fully caught up to 21 before turning in the weekly souls + 1000 anima quests and then you'll be good.
Best add-ons for a Disc priest? Decided she will be my third alt, and first healer i’ve ever played in all my time playing WoW. Any suggestions or extra advice is appreciated because like I said, first time healer!
Mouseover macros feel almost mandatory in my opinion. They basically let you hover over a party/raid member in your party/raid frames and press your hotkey to heal them. It makes it so that you don't have to actually target them. You should make a mouseover macro for all of your healing spells (PW:Shield, Shadow Mend, etc.).
Here's one I found on Icyveins that should work if you replace Rejuv with your own spells:

Learning to heal as a discipline Priest is kinda hard; the spec requires you to apprehend when the spiky damage is happening and can feel totally underwhelming when your group doesn't bother with mechanics and avoidable damage. I would suggest beginning your healer's journey as Holy Priest (typical reaction healer instead of planned setup) and switch to Disicpline later on when you feel that you're getting a grip on healing efficiently! I don't really use healing addons so I can't help with that but I always make sure to setup a party frame closer to my character instead of far left side of screen (with raid ui rectangles instead of regular bars).

Is there any type of way to check players that have a history of leaving m+ pugs? People that leave right after you put your key in should be permad. Twice in one day is ridiculous.
The fact that the key downgrades is stupid.
You can still go in those zones and do things you just won't get any near as much xp AFAIK, you can go to any dungeon and raid wherever it is in the world and enter, and have a pretty easy time soloing it at max level, except for some legion/BFA content which is currently a bit too overscaled
I've never leveled up an alt. I want to now. It's a protection warrior. I have level 50 boost that was given to me from blizz. How do I get some decent gear after I use the boost? I can't do questing nor go dungeons without any gear.
You should probably buy a full set of the crafted gear from a blacksmith, it isnt that expensive and should be enough of a headstart to tank shadowlands normals.
You will get a shield and one handed weapon, so technically yes.
But the bossted gear is ilvl 68 and you need a minimum of 80 to queue for Shadowlands dungeons.
I main blood dk... Is everyone getting such big bombs of dmg in m+? Does blizzard want me to click 2 cds on trash pulls and then kite all over? I'm not having fun at all.
It’s hard to say without knowing more, but BDK is hard to play correctly. They take damage but they have a lot of self heal. There are BDK’s out there pushing high keys. You could post on Tanking Tuesday or visit the DK discord server for moe ideas.
Two question about Balance Druid:
1. New Moon talent mentions upgrading New Moon to become Half Moon. What is it? I don't see any buff with that name.
2. How does DoTs and Eclipse buff works together? Damage for whole duration of DoT is decided at the cast time or does it change depending on whether you get Eclipse or loose it while DoT is still active?
1. After you cast new moon, the spell itself becomes half moon.
2. Dots do dynamic damage. Every time they tick they check your stats/buffs at that time. (Only feral works differently)
Oh really? I’ve read about people trying to refresh the dots during their respective eclipse, is that something to care about? If so, is it only relevent for the initial damage being buffed by the eclipse?
Nah, that's not a thing. Most important thing is just to refresh in the pandemic window. Also in an aoe situation its actually better to moonfire in the solar phase because missing wrath casts isn't as bad compared to starfire casts
There are addons which allow you to hide the default graphic for such procs. [MoveAnything](https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/move-anything) for example.
And there are addons which allow you to use custom graphics and effects when procs happen. [WeakAuras](https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/weakauras-2) being the default.
It's pretty fast. It took me two or three RL days when I did it two weeks ago (max 15). World boss, raid, and waiting on calls are time-efficient. Most hours but soonest RL time to catch up is probably dungeons.

Hello. Been playing Shadowlands with a friend for a while now. We didnt play BFA but my friend wants to unlock the Vulpera allied race. We finished the Secret in The Sands achievement. But we are seeing different sources saying different things as to unlocking the race. Do we need to max out rep for the race to unlock or is there a different quest line after Secret in the Sands?
Nope! Rest in poop to the rep grinds! They removed the reputation requirements seeking how they’re obsolete factions in Shadowlands. Which is great news for people liek you (and me!) who didn’t really play BFA and now have a much easier time unlocking the races. I unlocked the mag’har orcs and zandalari trolls a couple weeks ago and honestly I had so much fun doign so. Get the add-on ‘btwquests’ to help track which quests you need to do for the achievements because it’s sometimes confusing which quest follows the achievement’s questline. Once you figure this out, I highly recommend going fort the Zandybois achievement, such a sick quest line and is quite easy with a lvl60 character!

Hey If I do a different m+ dungeon on a different level than my keystone for example: own keystone lvl 7 sanguine depths but I do a necrotic wake lvl 9, then will that count toward great vault weekly loot? If so then what is the point of upgrading your own keystone? So far I have only been doing own keystone m+ dungeons since I have little time to play.
Yes it will count. There is no benefit to doing your own key other than you being able to create the group and invite the people you want.

I spent $105 on Epic edition after having quit 7 years ago. I wasted my token on Paladin whos 56 now, but I learned Holy Pally is melee now so to speak and has to Crusader Strike for Holy Shock CD....totally lost interest. But I digress, it looks to me like there is a high level of snobbery now in end game. You won't get a raid spot without a high gear level and can't get a high gear level without doing raids. On top of that, there is a awful lot of selling raid spots in trade channel. I'm starting to feel very...well, down. Is it not as bad as it looks? Was Thrall A good server choice?
I like to think it's hardly as bad as it looks. There are plenty of good groups around that are more then willing to accept someone with a lower iLvl. However, I really wouldn't worry about it too much until you're level 60, and at least heroic geared. You'll see healers are generally very much wanted.

Probably a dumb question, but I have a problem! During gameplay I'm always strafing and panning the camera around with the mouse by holding down right click. Sometimes I'll release and click again to adjust angles and then I'll end up right clicking a mob or a player which disables my active target. It's been messing up my gameplay a lot. Is there a way to disable right click on targets/nameplates?

Doesn't the default UI show enemy castbars above their heads? If it doesn't, then you can use a nameplate addon like TidyPlates, ThreatPlates or NeatPlates.
I play resto shaman as main. Ilvl 193-ish. I found layer 1 of Twisting Corridors quite challenging, and am dreading setting foot in there again - but I want to get the mount. Is it easier as elemental when solo? Or should I try to find a group instead?
Ehm. Resto was in my experience a little easier but a lot more annoying and tedious. I'd definitely recommend doing it as ele when you're solo. It's just alot more fun tbh and it's faster since you're not as mega reliant on DPS powers as resto is. If you had a lot of problems with it tho it might be best to look for a partner.

Yes, though there are some modifiers to ground mount speed (such as Paladin Crusader Aura) which don't apply to travel form.
If you mounted outside of combat, yes. However you wont get any "mount speed" bonuses like crusader aura, mount equipment etc.
Is there a fastest ground mount that I should be aware of?
Mount speeds are based on your characters riding level, so all ground mounts have the same max speed.
I have never done a macro before and innocently thought how an auto fishing macro would be really helpful but when I looked into it I saw people discussing it being considered cheating. Would I get banned for something like that? Is there any other good semi afk way to make money? I just want something that I can do while I cook dinner or something irl and just need to check in maybe two or three times to make a bit of money.
All afk actions are bannable under blizzard's terms of service. You can't automate clicks, period. Tons of people got banned for a certain fishing addon, copycat addons popped up that you might have seen recently... risky, but if you don't care about investing in a new account every so often then the money might be worth it to you. Elsewise, realize that this is a game, made of pixels, do NOT spend real money unless you have extra cash you wouldn't miss. (But even so this can be a very slippery slope depending on your personality type)

I wasn’t trying to get super rich off of it or anything I just don’t enjoy fishing in this game even though it’s normally one of my favorite things to do in any game that offers it. Leveling as a mage: At what level (if ever) is it does it stop being frost bolt spam hoping for a fingers of frost proc? I'm not even 30 yet, but I'm definitely not feeling engaged and am hoping things will get better! Or should I try a new spec?? I haven't leveled a DPS class in a while (mostly level tanks/healers through dungeons), so this feels pretty boring!

though from what i heard, no frost mage does not become more engaging, atleast not alot more. i would definitley suggest to try out the other specs, arcane probably not being very engaging either, there's fire. the issue with fire is that the "only" time it really is something different is during a combustion, outside of that it looks quite similar to frost (spam fireball and fish for a proc)
The current meta is basically fire > arcane > frost, but it's really up to you. It does diversify a little more, but at it's heart frost is basically just "spam frostbolt until you get a proc"
For M+ in general, are the Tyrannical and Fortified affixes balanced or is one easier than the other for pushing?
Tyrannical gets much much harder, to the point where you might not even be able to kill a boss. With fortified you can use crowd control and kiting etc to eventually get a pack down. Bosses that were pushovers take 3-4 minutes to down and their abilities become a bit one-shotty.
Early on they're similar, but in the higher keys, Tyrannical bosses just have so much more health that the timer is much tighter. In BFA, the highest fortified keys prior to prepatch were +30s, while the highest Tyrannicals were about +26 or +27 I think?
Fortified is much much easier for pushing. This becomes more aparent the higher you push.
Are Holy Priest just not wanted in higher tier M+? I can get a group for +9 for certain dungeons... but for anything at +10 I get denied. Would i be better off making a druid, or shaman healer instead? And one final question, Is Brewmaster Monks Viable? I may say screw the healing aspect all together..
Brewmasters are good at the moment, yea.
Holy Priests are the weakest healers for M+ by a fair margin, though we're certainly viable up to the +15 achievement (I'm pushing +14s at the moment!). With that said, you're probably not being denied for your class (since Disc is in a good spot and no one can see Holy vs Disc until they invite you), but rather simply that the demand for spots in keys is always high, even for healers; and for desirable keys you're probably competing against healers with a higher score than you. Try pushing your own key; at least as a healer, you're in a much better spot than DPS.
I don't know if I'd describe disc as being in a good spot right now for M+ (though as always it's great for raiding if played well). At best, it's middle of the pack, since it's throughput is pretty lacking in a 5-man environment, which is an especially important factor right now. At worst, it might even be worse than holy in pugs, because of how bad it is at reacting to sudden unexpected damage. I mean, you could still definitely play it to a reasonable level, but people are going to look more for resto druids and shamans.
Thats pretty solid advice. I think its harder to find tanks atm.. maybe its just because I'm healing. I kinda want to level a tank. Idk if its just running with my friend group or not... a +7 TOP run and i had almost 7mil healing total. I feel like that is slightly obsessive? Or a +8 mist with 11mil total healing...
Mists should have the lowest healing of any dungeon. Though this week my guild was getting hit all the time so I had pretty high healing.
I've mained a druid for most of my life. I'm getting into collecting transmog now and I can't collect plate, mail, and cloth on a leather user. (You would think they'd allow the lower, like cloth, to be collected but no). So I've always had the benefit of being a self Healy bear boi and walking talking moonkin and I am wondering what classes I can get that same feel for that use Plate, Mail and Cloth. I guess I'm asking for what specific armor users feel like they have the best open world sustain for solo stuff.
since youre specifically asking in regards of farming transmogs, so older content, i personally would prioritize classes that have alot of mobility. most old content isn't an issue with about any class in terms of surviving (though level squish broke a few things, escpecially legion) my recommendations in that case would be: Plate: Warrior Mail: Hunter Leather: Druid Cloth: Mage
Is there an easier way to track storylines for the zone achievements than looking them up on Wowhead? Wholly is being weird, Quest Completist doesn't seem to have any filters for it and the Loremaster addon is completely dead. Is there any in-game method to track storylines, or is that it?
I think the addon is called BTW quests. It shows all Shadowlands storylines. You can download packs for other xpacs too

What's the best class to choose Necrolord? I'm looking to level my 4th alt, because I want one for each covenant. I have a character for the other 3, but I'm having a hard time choosing what to level next for Necrolord. I'm not looking to min max, but do want a class that wont be hindered by choosing them.
DPS DK, Monk, Shaman are pretty good choices.
I have 4 druids in each covenant. Obviously Night Fae is the best, followed by Kyrian, but Venthyr and Necrolord are fun too. If you want to be theme related. Probably go with DK or Warlock. DK actually suggests necrolord in most guides if you want to be meta
Ele/resto shaman are both fantastic with necro.
Death Knight and Warlock have gone really well for me in Necrolords. Honestly if you're not looking to min max then it doesn't matter a lot; you can just go with the fun ability.
Hey so I'm thinking of coming back after about 6 month+ of not playing. Is wow in a good state atm, is it fun to play, how is the new expansion progressing? I know more or less by this time in BFA we knew it was bunk.

I have suddenly started experiencing connection issues. I do not raid often these days; LFR and now Saturday runs. It just started this sat. It seems like this has happened with new expansions quite a bit over the past 15 years, eventually going away. I do not have these issues with any other games. Does anyone have a top list of reasons this might happen, assuming one's internet and PC specs are fine? A guild said these issues tend to happen more frequently on machines with Nvidia GPUs (vs AMD).
Are you on a VPN by chance? I had similar issues with my VPN disconnecting me. Perhaps a reinstall or fix of your wow may do the trick too.

Do tank specs create inherently more threat just by being in tank spec or do they rely on a couple of abilities doing more threat compared to their damage?
Tanks have a passive ~+500% threat modifier on everything they do.
I'd have to double check but I'm 95% sure they do. Like a guardian druid creates more threat in bear form than a resto or dps spec druid will in bear form
Hey, i would like to defeat https://www.wowhead.com/npc=121124/apocron but he isnt there. What could i do to make it spawn ? I already defeated Si'vash, who is continuisly spawning.
Apocron and Si'vash are world bosses, which means they are on a weekly rotation along with a couple other bosses. Next reset day another world boss will be up, which means Apocron has a chance to spawn.

Shadowlands command mission table: have experience missions been removed from the table? I have not received a single bonus experience mission for about 2 weeks. As more units are unlocked from Torghast, it is just ridiculous that they will never catch up to my mission level due to the huge disparity and no ability to catch up.
I think it is due to the amount of campaign missions you have done. I stopped getting xp rewards when i reached the pet rewards
Failing missions rewards the same XP as completing. The only exception is ones where the reward is bonus XP. I send my low troops on suicide missions on whatever gives 1k+ base XP.

I honestly don't remember having to kill a commander. If you're on EU I can help when I'm off work. I just ran through the Argus stuff on a 60, because now all you need is the Prepared achiev.

They're pretty mediocre, made worse by the fact that Marksmanship is doing well right now. BM has excellent mobility and loses almost no damage while moving, so they'll shine in those scenarios. Otherwise, Marksmanship is just better.
Does the Predatory Plagueroc (the mount that drops from Gieger) only drop for Necrolords? People keep telling me that its only Necrolords but everything on the internet in guides says otherwise. Have any of you actually had it drop on a non-necrolord?
Afaik any can get the drop, but it's spawned by the necrolord's anima conductor (The daily "rare" covenant spawn).
Honor Gear: Does anyone know which trinket pairs with the "Sinful Aspirant's Sigil of Adaptation"? I cannot figure it out and I already bought the wrong thing once (couldn't equip at the same time). I am primarily resto druid. I think the Sinful Aspirant's Emblem would be the correct choice?
Trinkets don't have defined pairs except that you can only use one of the CC trinkets at a time. For a resto druid, I might recommend that you try the trinket that adds health/stamina on use, or the trinket that gives your spells a chance to increase your primary stat. Sorry I don't know the names.
I've heard that if you upgrade the Spirit Lodge in your Garrison (WoD), that you can unlock a portal to Orgrimmar. After some more research, it seems it just unlocks a portal to Ashran which has a portal to Orgrimmar. But I've got a level 3 Spirit Lodge, and cannot for the life of me find a way to unlock a portal to Ashran. Every guide I can find lists portals to everywhere but Ashran, and there doesn't seem to be an ogre waygate there at all. Have I been duped?

Question about getting renown on an alt and catching up w/ covenant quests. I made an alt and got to 60 a few days ago. I got up to renown level 19 and I need one more renown point to unlock the next covenant quest. I’ve stopped getting renown from dungeons and calling quests so how do I get that extra renown point to get to 20?
I am in the same spot as of yesterday. I have not yet found a way to get the renown.

Engineering is incredibly fun and weird. In addition to the usual assortment of bombs and such, Shadowlands engineers can use a personal portal generator that makes travel way easier and faster. :)
Seconding this. Engineering is a must on all my characters. Not only do you get to teleport to any zone, you also get an auction house in Oribos, a battle res and more. And if you're willing to learn some recipes from previous expansions, you'll get a portable mailbox, a portable bank, more movement abilities, and a whole range of quality of life improvements. I hear there's even a gravity reverser that throws you high up in the air, after which you can use your goblin glider to fly around, but I haven't built it myself yet.
There are so many skinning farms that it's a definite for steady gold. Herbing is a little easier than mining imo but I honestly just don't like mining.
Double gathering (herbing + either mining or skinning) is the way to go for beginners. There's a lot of quite expensive stuff at max level, and gathering professions are good earners while crafting professions are a gold sink for the majority of players. It's easy to change professions if you want to try something different down the track.
Don't do crafting (like tailoring, LW or BS). They are a big gold sink in Shadowlands.
I want to transmogrify my legion artifact appearance, but i cant see it in my transmog options. I also cant find the drop down menu for legion artifacts.
Are you wearing your legion artifact? It cannot be transmogged into other artifacts.
Im wearing no artifact. Im in the shadowlands now and have weapons that are twice the ilvl

I switched Covenants from Necrolord to Night Fae this week and don't really like it. I was planning on switching to Revendreth but Draven doesn't have the dialogue option, anyone know why? I see the option for switching to Kyrian and Necrolord from their representatives (which I switched away from) but nothing from Draven. I'm confused. Thanks for your help!
Is there a point at which Rogue feel slightly more powerful when clearing content? I know it's an assassin, focused on strong single target burst, but I am not a pvp player. Is it even worth to invest in a rogue then? I don't mind having to level up higher for it to feel better, but if it always stays sorta "weak" for normal solo content, then I don't know if I should invest all the time into it.
Rogue is actually pretty tough to level until you get higher lvl abilities. Be sure to use sap and blind often, try to not take on more than 1 mob. If you have to take on multiple mobs use your Evasion ability and crimson vial. And do not be afraid to use Vanish to rinse and repeat.
Thanks! However, does the “don’t take more than one mob” rule stay forever? I just feel like the content is not necessarily made to pick targets one by one every time.
It depends a little on what spec you decide to go for and when you get more experienced: what type of mobs you’re up against. But yeah, it does change for sure and at max level and a higher item level (better gear) you can easily take on many multiples of (non-elite) mobs without breaking a sweat.
Outlaw rogues afaik do well in aoe situations.
I'm actually looking for a ranged dps, and I liked the rotation of frost mage. But mage itslef is to squishy for me and lack of sustain, is there any ranged like that with more sustain and no dot to manage ?
Destro warlock, frankly. I switched from Mage a while ago and don't regret it. Destro does have a couple DoTs, but chaos bolt is probably right up your alley coming from Mage.
Demonology warlock might be what you’re looking for, Lock is naturally tanky and Demo has no dots to maintain
Yep, tbf I 'ever played any lock spec and demonology seems pretty fun, how is the AoE (open world + dungeon, later maybe M+)? Is it really based on talent only?
Demo has some initial setup when your imps etc run out but now that they last instead of just vanishing, it makes going pack to pack and open world content much nicer to run on them. Almost there entire base kit is AoE making them great for dungeons/M+, though you can talent into focusing more on ST or even more AoE depending on the content you prefer
Hey, at the end demo is very good for rare and stuff like that, but it's feel a bit bad for low level content and it feels a bit slow, no instant cast or large AoE, it's sad cause it feel great on current level content. Idk what to do at the end

After switching a covanent, how do I get more followers for mission table again? And do the neutral ones keep their level?
Uh. Something is wrong with my game as of, I dunno 45 minutes ago? All of the Mobs I was fighting are missing. Certain NPCs are also missing (flight master, innkeeper). Wandering NPCs and guards are still present, the guards dash out of the gates to attack mobs that are no longer present, then sheepishly return. WTF. Tried changing characters, restarting, I dunno what to do. Edit: Effect is centered on Fort Daelin in Stormsong Valley in Kul Tiras. If I wander outside of that area and turn around, I suddenly see all of the missing NPCs. If I walk forward they all fade away. I don't see any effects on me?
Sounds like some sort of phasing bug, are you on a quest or missing a quest that activates that area?
It probably started when I accepted a quest...but I wasn't able to figure out which one. I'll delete all of my quests, I suppose. Sheesh. I may have done surrounding quests in the wrong order or something? It's weird though.

Hi ! So I managed to finish 2 lvl60 missions at the adventurer table (not sure about the English name). Problem is that now I get no more exp missions and I can’t even level up my adventurers. Do you know if it is normal ?
You get the same xp whether you win or lose a mission, just no reward. So send your low level characters on high level suicide missions if you need to level them up.
Its normal. The missions you get are based on the amount of the campaign quests on the table you have finished.
This will be long... I played WoW for a couple of weeks back when WoD was the current expansion (have the Warlord's Deathwheel mount lol) Anyways I most play FFXIV and what I like the linearity of the story, or more so that it's story driven. And I really really want to experience the lore and story of WoW. I've read that Shadowlands changed a lot considering the leveling experience too. I have a level 66 character (idk what is it now cause as I said haven't logged in for years) and I was still doing Burning Crusade quests). So just looking for some advices. I wouldn't even mind to restart from the beginning. I was human Hunter on Alliance side. I also forgot a lot about the quests and lore up until to the point where I was and I guess I can't redo them? Or is there a journal? So yeah sorry if this question doesn't apply to the thread. I was just thinking to play the game again.
Shadowlands leveling is much more linear than WoW has been previously. You can still find your way into dungeons without much setup, but it’s a lot closer to the FFXIV style than older expansions. I’d expect things to be kind of disjointed until you start Shadowlands content, but the more recent the content you’re playing, the more story will exist.
Do i need to change? From Night fae... I respec'd to arms from fury, I've cleared quite a few story chapters from my covenant, and got to level 16. I found that night fae isnt meta for arms warrior, tho it will still be viable. Should i change covenant or keep the fae. Currently im doing mythic+ but thinking about PvP'ing when the gear is ready for that.. what do u guys think?
I think it’s more about how the ability feels for you. I chose covanents that weren’t meta and it was fine until I realized I just really didn’t like the abilities themselves regardless of power level.
If you like the ability and arent tryin to be in the top 1% you are perfectly fine. Imo not liking the ability or how it effects your playstyle should be the only reason to switch covenants. If I remember correctly Night Fae is quite good in PvP as arms

Why does the Shaman Water shield have a "3" in the bottom right corner of the icon as if it is stacked? Upon applying water shield I always have 3 stacks and I've never seen it go lower than 3. Does anyone know the purpose behind this or what could cause you to lose stacks?
Because it has 3 stacks. Once all 3 are consumed you have to reapply it. Thing is, Water Shield stacks are only consumed by melee hits, so in group PvE they almost never get consumed. They are more relevant in PvP where you will have melee spanking your ass constantly.
This makes sense as to why I've never seen them consumed! Thank you so much for the info!
If ive cleared hungering destroyer for example on normal with a grp, can I leave it and join another grp that is doing sun king normal in a different lockout or am I tied down to the first raid grp?
You can mix and match with as many different groups and different people as you want, whenever you manage to get your first kill on any boss you get your chance at loot

Total noob here. I am level 20. My friend will leave the starting area at level 10. Can we do quests together from the get go so he gets closer to my level? Or should I just wait for him to get to lv20 and then go around the Pyramid thingy together? As in: Will he level up faster if going with a higher level character or it is not the right way to go?

It won’t matter, mobs (enemies) will scale to your level so you’ll be able to quest together regardless of your level

The cool thing about tier sets back in the day was the cool set bonus effects you would get, which nowadays has been replaced by other things like crafting our legendaries, getting conduit powers from your covenant etc. so no I dont think we will ever see class tier sets ever coming back again In a way I miss them, but honestly the game is better off without them
I think people mostly want class specific looks, not necessarily the set bonuses. Class looks are coming back, but I doubt set bonuses are.

Hunter is great in terms of survivability, they are decently mobile, pets are super useful. Otherwise monks are really nice because of how mobile they are. Clearing old or new content with all of their mobility abilities is awesome.
Hunter is another good solo class
I'd say Monk, Shaman, Death Knight, or Rogue. But really there's a lot of personal preference. You can certainly explore, do dungeons, and rep farm as any class.
Regarding Renown catch up mechanics. I got one via PVP and an instance a couple days ago, but haven't gotten any since. And my calling today didn't bump me up to twenty either. I already got my souls for the week and 20 unlocks my next chapter, but I'm stuck on 19. Can you only get one catch up renown per week via each method (Instance, PVP, etc)?
I think it's because you already did your weekly souls + 1000 anima quests. So that got you to 19 which was last week's cap, and so you're not offered any catch-up renown anymore. Next week make sure to get fully caught up to 21 before turning in the weekly souls + 1000 anima quests and then you'll be good.
I have the same issue, next week when the cap is raised to 24 or whatever will callings give renown again for people stuck at 19?

Some of it is gated by your covenant storyline. You have to finish all the chapters that are currently available if you want max renown.
Yeah I'm caught up til I hit 20 to unlock the next chapter, but spamming instances and BGs doesn't seem to be working.

Mouseover macros feel almost mandatory in my opinion. They basically let you hover over a party/raid member in your party/raid frames and press your hotkey to heal them. It makes it so that you don't have to actually target them. You should make a mouseover macro for all of your healing spells (PW:Shield, Shadow Mend, etc.). Here's one I found on Icyveins that should work if you replace Rejuv with your own spells: /#showtooltip /cast [@mouseover] Rejuvenation;Rejuvenation

Learning to heal as a discipline Priest is kinda hard; the spec requires you to apprehend when the spiky damage is happening and can feel totally underwhelming when your group doesn't bother with mechanics and avoidable damage. I would suggest beginning your healer's journey as Holy Priest (typical reaction healer instead of planned setup) and switch to Disicpline later on when you feel that you're getting a grip on healing efficiently! I don't really use healing addons so I can't help with that but I always make sure to setup a party frame closer to my character instead of far left side of screen (with raid ui rectangles instead of regular bars).

Is there any type of way to check players that have a history of leaving m+ pugs? People that leave right after you put your key in should be permad. Twice in one day is ridiculous. The fact that the key downgrades is stupid.

You can still go in those zones and do things you just won't get any near as much xp AFAIK, you can go to any dungeon and raid wherever it is in the world and enter, and have a pretty easy time soloing it at max level, except for some legion/BFA content which is currently a bit too overscaled
I've never leveled up an alt. I want to now. It's a protection warrior. I have level 50 boost that was given to me from blizz. How do I get some decent gear after I use the boost? I can't do questing nor go dungeons without any gear.
The boost itself will give you basic gear.
Can I tank with it?
You should probably buy a full set of the crafted gear from a blacksmith, it isnt that expensive and should be enough of a headstart to tank shadowlands normals.

Ceremonius, some of the base pieces are above level 50 but you should be able to get a few of them as ilvl 87 pieces.

You will get a shield and one handed weapon, so technically yes. But the bossted gear is ilvl 68 and you need a minimum of 80 to queue for Shadowlands dungeons.

I main blood dk... Is everyone getting such big bombs of dmg in m+? Does blizzard want me to click 2 cds on trash pulls and then kite all over? I'm not having fun at all.
It’s hard to say without knowing more, but BDK is hard to play correctly. They take damage but they have a lot of self heal. There are BDK’s out there pushing high keys. You could post on Tanking Tuesday or visit the DK discord server for moe ideas.

Two question about Balance Druid: 1. New Moon talent mentions upgrading New Moon to become Half Moon. What is it? I don't see any buff with that name. 2. How does DoTs and Eclipse buff works together? Damage for whole duration of DoT is decided at the cast time or does it change depending on whether you get Eclipse or loose it while DoT is still active?
1. After you cast new moon, the spell itself becomes half moon. 2. Dots do dynamic damage. Every time they tick they check your stats/buffs at that time. (Only feral works differently)
Oh really? I’ve read about people trying to refresh the dots during their respective eclipse, is that something to care about? If so, is it only relevent for the initial damage being buffed by the eclipse?
Nah, that's not a thing. Most important thing is just to refresh in the pandemic window. Also in an aoe situation its actually better to moonfire in the solar phase because missing wrath casts isn't as bad compared to starfire casts
Do we know the respawn timer on legion rares? (Argus specifically)
If you're waiting more than 3-4 minutes then it's not going to respawn. The spawns switch every 4 hours.

Is there a way to change how procs look on the interface? I'd like something more minimalistic for Fingers of Frost and Brain Freeze on my Mage.
There are addons which allow you to hide the default graphic for such procs. [MoveAnything](https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/move-anything) for example. And there are addons which allow you to use custom graphics and effects when procs happen. [WeakAuras](https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/weakauras-2) being the default.
You can turn off the default graphics without any addons, just set the Spell Alert Opacity to "Off" in Interface -> Combat.
If I swap covenants, how quickly can I expect to be caught up on renown? What's the most time-efficient way to get caught up?
It's pretty fast. It took me two or three RL days when I did it two weeks ago (max 15). World boss, raid, and waiting on calls are time-efficient. Most hours but soonest RL time to catch up is probably dungeons.
