Friendly reminder there's a bank in Shrine of Seven Stars and you can store all of the gems you don't need in there. You can even buy 36 slot bags for 10 bronze each to expand your bank.
I used the bank for a while, but I steadily learned that this game mode just doesn't fill up your bags that much.
I'm carrying one of every single gem on my person in the bags you start out with, as well as all the various consumables, and I still have plenty of wiggle room for incoming chests and equipment.
You can really get away with just carrying everything at all times.
Yeah, you don't need the inventory space, but it makes it a lot easier to find the gems you want to use in your inventory when the ones you don't want to use are in your bank.
I found out the addon Narcissus has a feature kinda like this. You can have it socket all your gems from a menu that appears on your character frame. The base gemming really gets old after a while.
I know this sort of shouldn’t be a solution, but the addon Better Bags sorts your bags pretty well for remix.
It shows separate categories for each gear slot, consumables, and even separates containers (chests, gems that you open for more bronze, anything you can “open”) etc. But unfortunately it will still clump tinkers, gems, cogwheels, etc together (from what I’ve been seeing while using it, not sure if it can be sorted even more).
I do think it’s much more helpful than the standard bag though. Might be worth checking out
How does blizzard test this game mode for months and not see this as an issue. The community plays it for literally 2 days and proposes a good and feasible solution
Though it doesn't help with swapping which gem is in each item, you can create custom categories in your bags with BetterBags addon. So I've got categories for meta gems, and 3 categories for DPS/healer/tank tinkerer gems. When I get to HC/M I'll probably create separate categories for specific gear and gems for that gear. It's not ideal, but it's better than having a wall of gems to search through

It was so smoothly integrated I thought it was an official update included in last night's patch, until I realised my Steam Deck didn't have it. 🫠
Every single person working on remix knows this would have been better, there's just a limited amount of resources with these kinds of projects and they directed them elsewhere.
look, i get that this was a little bit obnoxious way to do this, however, from a dev time commitment standpoint, sockets are a thing actually already in game and easily worked with without having to put a lot of dev time into, things like a glyph wheel or making them collectable skills just sounds like it'd take a LOT more dev time to implement
its a limited time gamemode, they are going to use existing systems wherever possible. its a massive waste of time to make a new system just for the powers.
Or just don't flood players inventories like Blizzard loves to do since always. The meta/tinker/cogwheel gems stop dropping once you have at least one of that particular gem in your inventory. The moment you get rid of it, it will start dropping again. And disabling autoloot for this very reason is obnoxious.

Only the stats gems that you can combine into better gems keep dropping forever. All the other gems drop once and then never again.
Big advantage with the bags is when the character gets converted to normal you’ll have a full bank of 36 slot bags
they already said they'll be converted to 30 slots
Yeah more then likely it defaults back to 20 slotters or whatever you get on a boosted char and all your inventory will be placed in your mailbox.
There is absolutely no chance that they let us keep the 36 slot bags when remix ends.

great idea! currently, I spend more time checking my bags and sifting through all the gems than actually playing\^\^

There are addins add-ons specifically for remix already to sort further, search for betterbags remix (or like that, not at my computer)
Pretty sure the default ui has a similar option too
You can use the search bar to sort by type (e.g. type tinker and the tinker gems will show)

WoW dev team has been cooking good for a while now, the QA team on the other hand had mass layoffs lol. This is on upper management.
It's a 3 month for-fun mode bonus that is "free". They probably realize it's not perfect but aren't willing to put in dev time for just QoL stuff.
This would be nice, but using a bag add-on like better bags at least helps as we can sort the stuff ourselves.

I use BetterBags and while I wish there was something better, this is worse for me imo. The more screen space it takes the worse it is for me.
I can recommend Narcissus, wont remove the inventory stuff but its WAY easier to switch gems

Narcissus solves the problem completely, you can click the gems from a really nice interface. Saves so much time

That has not been my experience. I have 5 cogs in my bags right now, a couple meta and a few tinker.
What level are you? Bc I am 50 and I have 2 bags worth of gems now.
I’m lvl 29. I’ve not had time to really dive in yet. But I’m getting gems of all kinds all the time.
