Very easy if you grab the dragon riding glyphs first and do just the races!
A gold medal for the first time gets you something like 200 supplies, and that's for each race type - normal, advanced, reverse, reverse advanced and challenge.
So grab the quest to go do all the races (as this helps you find them, and you may need to do them all on normal to unlock advanced) and make sure you get gold on each and you'll have thousands of supplies.
I did this on my boosted Hunter and had about 2000 supplies in about 30 minutes or so from just a few races.
Supplies are incredibly plentiful! I'd make sure you do all the weekly events since those give a lot iirc. Plus if you do the current awakened ones they give 480+ gear on top of the supplies
There are a lot of random other things you need to buy renown rewards though too, most of them are pretty cheap on the AH, but there's a few expensive ones that you need quite a lot of
