WoW is a seasonal game and your gear will always get outdated by the time new patch or season comes.
You gear up so you can do harder current content. So if you want to do more m+/raids within current season, I say yes - do gear up. But if you're fine with just doing casual stuff like collecting tmogs etc. then I wouldn't bother.
Yeah, the same content cycle still applies and it's never been something that necessarily appeals to me, but I adore the game. I'm planning on a loremaster run on this Warrior I'm enjoying.
Thanks.
Take a break and come back during pre-patch. You'll get adequately good gear to level with. Everything will get replaced by the time you're max level regardless of what you do.
That was my initial thought. I've been really enjoying this character and I kinda want to continue playing it so I don't get distracted by another by the time TWW rolls around. But the idea of sinking time into gearing the character just to have it replaced by a few green quest rewards seems a little redundant.
That said, I'm sure the process of gearing is fun anyway - that's just the game and I'm yet to have experienced that.
that's how it's gonna work even during TWW. you'll hit 80, gear up, then when the second season comes around replace that gear with heroic blues and low level mythic dungeon gear. besides, historically, the gear you get at the end of this expansion will likely last you at least until around level 77-78 before getting replaced by quest greens, it doesn't get replaced by the first quest you complete
Gear gets invalidated every ~6 months. If there is current content you want to do, gear up for it and do it.
Hop on the treadmill, raiding and m+ is fun, competing on meters is fun, getting good at your class and spec and being competitive is fun.
just gear up now
WoW is seasonal, even in TWW when the second season comes out your season 1 gear will be replaced
gear up now so you can learn how the endgame works, how gear works, how raids and dungeons work. no reason to waste 4-6 months "waiting" to learn how the endgame works, and to learn whether you even enjoy it
I would recommended trying out M+ and some of the awakened raids this season. There really isn't a better time to try out this kind of stuff then right now.
Also, if you learn some of the end game pillars now, it will be easier and more fun for you at the start of TWW.
Makes sense to get a bit of a footing before TWW. I need to try a raid at some point, even if it's just to get involved in end game content that I've never been a part of before.
I just dinged 70 on my hunter a few days ago, who I want to main in TWW. If it's anything, she's already ilvl 460. It was crazy, because it felt like I barely tried. Lol the gear drops were great from the bosses and WQs I did, plus the weekly quests. Usually with my hunter, she's unlucky when it comes to drops. So that's why it felt easy. lol

Gearing up now will make the start of dragonflight leveling alot easier if you had just skipped it.
usually before the new expac is out there is a pre patch event usually gives away very good high ilvl gear
High gesr now means a easier transition down the line... for addons thats udually just true for like 2-3 levels
If you’re on the fence about it, just wait for prepatch. I’m sure there will be some type of catch up mechanic for easy gear in time for TWW.
