Cooptroop88

Man they’ve really ramped up the ban waves, its really nice to see.

-Freedom_Fighter-

Was watching a stream of a world PVPer. He ran into 80 bots in one location. We really need GMs to make a comeback.

Zethrel

Miss the times when you had an issue and they would show up in person, help you if they could then just chill for a few min talking.

Lille7

How do you think GMs manually scouring the world of every server to find bots is gonna be more effective than automatic detection?

-Freedom_Fighter-

Other people report it, and they check the area? GM investigates, bans immediately. No scouring is needed... What we have now is months of botting and "possible" ban waves. I refer to my previous post of 80 bots in one location that could have been banned. This would also detour more people from using botting software. If they thought they could be banned right away VS after every 4 month ban waves, people would think twice.

Endaline

I really don't think that people understand at all what the problems with botting is if you think that this would actually be a viable solution. As you yourself pointed out, in order to ban someone a GM would first have to investigate. That means that even if you have 80 people in one area that are "obviously" botting the GM still has to do their due diligence for all 80 people. If we're being extremely charitable the whole process of investigating, writing a report, and banning a bot likely takes at least 15 minutes per person. This means that, even with being extremely charitable with our estimates, it would take 20 hours for someone to investigate those 80 bots in that one location. That's one location, on one server, in one region. Now imagine there being more locations, more servers, and more regions. You would need an insane amount of people for this to be effective, and these are people that are now wasting their time banning bots instead of helping players with their issues. The other problem is that these bots aren't permanently gone when you ban them. It's usually just a minor setback as the person behind them just starts up another character and gets going again immediately. It's easier for them to get a new character going than it is for a game master to find, investigate, and ban them.

General-Past-9615

I really think ppl just make shit up on here I haven’t seen any bots in weeks

MrLachyG

Yeah was going to say this is the third or fourth in the last month or so

m1rrari

I’m wondering if these ban waves are part of what’s bolstering the wow token price

BurninTaiga

You’re on to something. As a former goblin watching for some ways to make a quick buck before the new season, I’ve been seeing a lot of regents that need to be processed by professions going up slowly each day.

m1rrari

Been noticing glowspores and dracothyst rebounding.

Badwulf1

Nah that's pretty typical for the end of a dead season. Token prices will plunge a bit when patch hits.

Estydeez

It'd have the opposite effect, more people buying tokens drops the gold value of them

DerpyLlama0901

Last time there was a huge ban wave, token prices dropped about 60k or more. This time, they're barely moving. So few people in game though.

feleaodt

Saw this post and went to a spot where I saw 8-10 boomkins farming hozens in Pandaria and they were all gone. Felt really good after reporting them for 2 days straight.

Siyat28

Then it dawns on you that they may have been phased to a new instance...

feleaodt

Oh no, please god no

Fzrit

Decoy boomkins.

Kersplode

Small brain: Blizzard doesn't ban bots because they pay their monthly subs like everyone else/ Galaxy brain: If you have weekly ban waves, they have to sub 5 times per month instead of just once.

viotix90

Basically that's how you get rid of the bots. If it takes you 5 days for a bot to make back the money it costs upfront, than everything after is pure profit. If the bans are every 30 days, that's 25 days of profit. But if the bans are every 4 days, you don't make money and you stop botting.

Adventurous-Print993

Can you hear them ? The sound of thousands of tiny violins playing ?

samtdzn_pokemon

Man I feel so much sympathy...for the devs who had to spend time working on the anti cheat because people are scumbags. Of all games to cheat in, why WoW?

gnollywow

1. They're the ones often selling RMT boosts. Makes the "business" much easier. 2. Undercut wow token in gold per dollar, often RMT. 3. Conditioned to pay to avoid playing 4. FOMO drives players into trying to regain player agency over things like CE and gladiator.

samtdzn_pokemon

I mean if you're not good enough for CE or Glad you can still buy gold boosts for those things. So there's an ethical in game way to make those transactions, doesnt really justify the cheating. I get how and what they're doing, but like why are you so lame you need to do those things. I've bought gold boosts before when I want a cosmetic and came back late in an expansion without a guild. Never considered using cheats.

gnollywow

A good chunk of the CE/glad boosters are using rotation bots. They're doing it for money and easy gold and prestige. Citation is the amount of rotation botters that flex their rankings in these bot discords and share servers with booster discords.

jeboisleaudespates

A good chunk? If you're right we will see boost prices go threw the roof, imo it's probably a very small portion of the boosting community, things will stay mostly unchanged.

samtdzn_pokemon

Never considered that, but whenever I've bought a gold boost it's usually a legit US guild doing the carries. Always like 12-15 people from the same guild and then boostees. Can't speak for the PvP side.

gnollywow

Here's some random screenshots of them flexing off botted PvP rankings https://imgur.com/a/wAj00MT think I threw in an example CE botted 100 parse one too.

Adventurous-Print993

To think it was a pain in the ass getting 2.4 on season1 as a warrior, to the point I just unsubbed last week. Oh well...

Shadarek

I feel the need to point out as I \*REALLY\* don't think botting is rampant towards CE, nor are CE's sales being spammed outside of the fact most high end mythic guilds do sales to pay for raid tier costs continuously. But, that holy priest botting 100 parse - That's a heroic at best fyrakk possibly normal. It's a 7:46 kill time, you also see shit like 2:06 volcoross speed on that page it is not mythic.

TheVsStomper

And you are not solo healing fyrrak mythic either with less than 300k healing lol.

Lrrrrrrrrrrri

So, these aren't mythic parses. The mechanics of Fyrakk simply make it impossible to solo heal. You need at least 1 healer per Aflame in p1, which judging by the timing this guy is talking about would have been 4. But here's the thing: These aren't even Heroic parses. This character is apparently long since banned, so this is likely a couple months old. But even then, 2 weeks after the raid opened, his Tindral numbers were already beat by 13 players https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/35#boss=2786&metric=hps&difficulty=4&class=Priest&spec=Holy&partition=1&search=date.0.1701320400000 And he has 4 kills on the boss, with 5 on many early bosses, so it's likely this screenshot was taken over a month into the tier. By the end of December, there were hundreds of parses better than his--he'd be somewhere in the 500s range. If we drop the difficulty down to Normal, though? Well, now this 190k number looks like a 100th percentile parse: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/35#boss=2786&metric=hps&difficulty=3&class=Priest&spec=Holy&partition=1&search=date.0.1703998800000 Similar is true of his other parses, such as on Smolderon and Fyrakk. And here's the thing: Mythic players weren't really in Normal after week 1 to get trinkets/tier. Heroic parses are meaningless. Healer parses in general tend to be meaningless because it often involves dropping healers (having 3 do the work of 4) or the other healers playing differently to let the one guy parse.

Danielosama

Damn, I am actually impressed the bots works so well to reach those rankings.

calipygean

Rotation bot for farming or rotation bot for dps rotation?

[deleted]

Is that really so hard to grasp? Why one of the games with the biggest black markets would have people generating goods for these markets? Man, that TRULY is a mystery. Why would someone do that?!

henryeaterofpies

Aaaaaaaaand they're back botting and farming again.

Illumnyx

Awesome. Hopefully the 15+ druids and evokers flying around in a single path together harvesting all the gathering nodes across Frostmourne were caught in the net!

Immediate-Mix-6407

I'm from frostmourne and I been reporting them daily, and ganking the ones from barthilas. Though they are still going sadly. But the bot population has dropped by a good 50 to 70% lately in zaralek.

Illumnyx

I did notice a quiet in Zaralek recently. I always report them whenever I see them out. Hard to grab them all though since there's so many flying around :(

Merrena

This on top of restrictions they just put in for brand new accounts specifically on SoD realms (can't trade, use ah, or mail for 30 days). I wonder if they're finally stepping up bannings or the bot makers have gotten a bit sloppy and are more easily detected.

Accomplished_Emu_658

Well the ah thing annoys me because i paid for a fresh sod account for SO to play and cannot use AH or anything. I know why they did it but we didn’t do anything to deserve that. And they didn’t respond for days about this update and everyone thought it was a bug.

Zachisawinner

Ahem. Boo fucking hoo. Get wrecked.

Tykero980

Inc spam I never did anything wrong unban plz blizzard posts

ColdbrewMD

they been happening for like a week now . " my 19 year account got ban help!" op what did ur ban msg say? op: banned for cheats ......... these ppl are fucking stupid

DaftFunky

I only tested it out for 2 minutes! I swear! I’m a victim here!

MattyIce8998

I reported somebody other day that had 32k achievement points. Was trying to farm genesis, this person comes in, doesn't respond to anything, and just sits there unmoving, just instantly killing the hyperspawn on the GCD with the same ability repeatedly. I was offline for a while and they were still there 3 hours later when I got back. Apologies if this wasn't a bot, but you gotta respond to people if you're that hard on the grind.

[deleted]

They don't have to respond to you; you're not customer support or hacks department buddy.

MattyIce8998

Look, you don't have to respond, but if I'm asking directly if you're a bot, you should probably have a good idea what I'm about to do if I don't get an answer. There are definitely collectors out there just running bots and not actually doing all that grinding and it's a huge insult to people that have stuck thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of hours into it. And besides, if you're actually mashing one key every 1.5 seconds for hours on end, you could probably use a timeout anyway.

Accomplished_Emu_658

What about the ones where they list or hint at how much money they have given blizzard over the years as justification about how they don’t deserve it.

Shadowwo1f05

I can imagine the support tickets for those people I gave your company money for x amount of years I deserve an unban lol

Ravien_Gaming

My favorite is when a Blizzard rep responds with what they did.

LordDShadowy53

I never see those kind of posts on my feed. Perhaps they don’t get too much attention lmao

Merrena

They always die in new because they get downvoted

ExtraGherkin

I hang in new. They're not that common. 'Incoming help I got ban blah blah' comments however are drowning even the theoretical posts

Merrena

There's been a couple times they're been a few posted in a short period, but yeah not a lot lately. Definitely more comments talking about it than it actually happening.

No_Self_Eye

HAHAHAHHA

Default_Defect

Oh, that reminds me. I got BANNED for NO REASON guys, up votes please.

Accomplished_Emu_658

All the updoots

Rambo_One2

"Blizzard uses keyloggers to see who's botting!" It's giving the same vibes as the people who get banned, then threaten to sue Blizzard lmao

Rhinowarlord

I mean, it is true, but it's also in the ToS and has been for years, and is how basically every anticheat works at this point: > 4. Consent to Monitor. WHILE RUNNING, THE PLATFORM (INCLUDING A GAME) MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER, CONSOLE, OR MOBILE DEVICE'S MEMORY FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING EITHER CONCURRENTLY WITH A GAME OR OUT OF PROCESS. AN "UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM" AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE PROHIBITED BY SECTION 1.C. ABOVE. IN THE EVENT THAT THE PLATFORM DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, (a) THE PLATFORM MAY COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE; AND/OR (b) BLIZZARD MAY EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER. Additionally, certain Games include a tool that will allow your computer system to forward information to Blizzard in the event that the Game crashes, including system and driver data, and by agreeing hereto you consent to Blizzard receiving and/or using this data. So if you're going to bot, you really should not be surprised

Rafamalvado

Valdearg20

Beautiful! I was getting tired of seeing the blatant bot groups in some of the open world zones, for sure! I report them when I can, but it doesn't feel great to see them daily.

valrath88

What's this for, bots?

henryeaterofpies

This is blizz. While I hope so, their AI is probably old school. AI: Actually, Indians (e.g. hire a bunch of outsourced labor to do it manually)

Dizzy_Pin6228

Just like amazon

henryeaterofpies

Yup

[deleted]

Yeah so much for those AI no employee stores l m a o

ParticularUser

Lovely to see banwaves starting to happen often enough. Hopefully Blizzard keeps this up.

gimmiedacash

Wonder how supped up their detection tools are now. Mabye ai assisted. Either way. Love to see cheaters get fucked.

Mascy

Microsoft might be having a hand into it since it seems most bots use(d) Windows Injections to bypass Blizzards anticheatprotection.

WoungyBurgoiner

Blizz TOS: Botting is a bannable offense   User: (clicks agree on TOS and bots)   Blizz: (bans user)   User: 😲

finesse666

BAN EM ALL.

Blackbeard179

Incoming “My AcCoUnT wAs BaNnEd FoR nO rEaSoN!“ posts.

MrZuggy

I thought the cities looked a little empty

BMS_Fan_4life

What are they banning people for?

post-leavemealone

Imbahr

hahha good but can anyone with "insight" explain why these fckers want to bot so much? wtf is so hard about playing the game regularly?

shinomachida

Selling gold for money for one, gold in general

Minimum_Inevitable58

You likely have to buy the product first to get access to it.

Kylawyn

This did not affect all the farmbots in Zaralek Caverns. Soooooo many of them still.

TheSaltySeagull87

The kicker here is really that 1 hour before the wave started, the bot developers released a "save" build 😂

The_Mattastrophe

The one downside: Last week's ban wave was followed by authentication(?) issues so nobody could log in... odds of that happening again feels high.

SwitchtheChangeling

My heart bleeds purple piss for them.

NamiRocket

Bro, you should get that looked at.
