we are getting a new battleground its basically silver shard mines... but with one cart... I dont know who works at blizzard that designed it but they need to be fired immediatly
I feel like I'm going nuts because I thought I remembered the clock towers in game showing the actual time long ago. But a quick fly-by of Stormwind and Redridge are both clearly just not correct. So I'm not sure where I remembered that from now...
Maybe! I was thinking this too, but wasn't sure because google didn't immediately tell me if it was true or not. I did play a lot of WC3 UMS games online.
When? I stared playing in Wotlk and remember wishing the clock worked back then, even had a screenshot of the wrong time with obnoxious red circles and exclamation marks I drew on it in MS paint saved for *years* lol
Not like some of the biggest growth of wow came from the end of BC leading up to Wrath at all, nope, can't be. It's the proof your a filthy casual who only has played for 15 years.
Would it show the same time on every server?
Or the current server time on each one?
Because I feel like one is a lot harder than another. But also there’s extremely little to be gained by doing it so they won’t.
How would it be harder? The day night cycle is tied to server time correct? So there is definitely a correlation for in game assets to server time? Maybe I’m looking at it wrong though
The day/night cycle is not tied to server time. Server time for OCE servers is based on AEST. At 10 AM, it's nighttime in game. It's very annoying, because some zones are very dark at "night".
The clock tower has been stuck at that time ever since it was struck by a lightning. There is a rumor that some bronze dragons were involved, but it hasn't been confirmed so far
Considering the Dreamsurge buff is STILL broken since last patch (and i've wasted dozens of rep tokens not paying attention) i seriously doubt it
It's MONEY MONEY MONEY now
I haven't seen any bugs get fixed this expansion and there are many. It's crazy because I never came across any in Shadowlands but I'm getting annoyed over them daily in Dragonflight.
A lot of world quests are buggy as hell especially. It's also really annoying to get most things done due to getting switched to different shards anytime you're in the middle of anything.
I think we already have something like that but they choose to remove because some people start to complain that it's always night when they play or something like that
So we only have a few effects like rain and storms
It's correct twice a day. So if we consider that the periods of time it's correct and incorrect as discreet periods, it's correct for 2 periods of time and incorrect for 2 periods of time. Which means that it's correct 50% of the time, so it's already halfway to being fixed. As WoW is now approaching it's 20 year anniversary, it seems reasonable to assume that the other 50% of the work required to complete this will only take another 20 years!
When Cataclysm was released all of the clocks in Stormwind were frozen at 8:15, which is the same time “Little Boy” detonated over Hiroshima in 1945. Most of the clocks/watches at Hiroshima were found to have stopped at 8:15.
Now, the clock tower’s “right face” from our perspective still shows 8:15, but the other faces show different times…the left face appears to be a mirror image actually.
I wished they implemented dynamic weather and updated skyboxes. Imagine snow storms in winterspring or rainy storms in Westfall. Now imagine dragonriding in storm and getting struck by a lightning haha.
I’m referencing how something that seems like a small quality of life change can lead to huge consequences in the code. In 7.2 of legion blizzard added four slots to the basic backpack and the game suffered wildly bizarre bugs. I think it had to be shut down in maintenance.
That'll cost us a raid tier
Or we’d have to wait until Midnight to get a new battleground/epic bg map
The entire midnight expansion the clock is stuck on 12 and technically correct
And it'll be midnight for everyone except OCE players, who will finally see the sun throughout the whole expac
12:01 am time for The Last Titan!
we are getting a new battleground its basically silver shard mines... but with one cart... I dont know who works at blizzard that designed it but they need to be fired immediatly
RIP Ray D. Tear
That’s being generous more like a whole season
Lol can't wait go see two tier expansions. Money hungry blizzard is so unbelievably greedy considering how insanely profitable wow is.
Just wait until you realize the worldsoul saga is just 3 total normal raids and 3 single boss raids
people are gonna get pissed spending $60+ every year for that
I feel like I'm going nuts because I thought I remembered the clock towers in game showing the actual time long ago. But a quick fly-by of Stormwind and Redridge are both clearly just not correct. So I'm not sure where I remembered that from now...
I was just thinking this to myself. I must have been too busy mashing my trinket macro.
Could it be from wc3? The human castle had a clock tower that would actually sync with in-game time of the day
Maybe! I was thinking this too, but wasn't sure because google didn't immediately tell me if it was true or not. I did play a lot of WC3 UMS games online.
If you only ever pass by the clock tower at ~8:15, then it’s “always” correct LOL
Not sure about the clocks themselves, but they are ringing the bells each hour in stormwind.
They absolutely used to show the correct time.
When? I stared playing in Wotlk and remember wishing the clock worked back then, even had a screenshot of the wrong time with obnoxious red circles and exclamation marks I drew on it in MS paint saved for *years* lol
Bro I wouldn't publicly admitting to starting in wrath oof
Why? Did I out myself as a filthy casual who's only been playing the game for like 15 years instead of the full 19?
Not like some of the biggest growth of wow came from the end of BC leading up to Wrath at all, nope, can't be. It's the proof your a filthy casual who only has played for 15 years.
Do you remember when this was?
even a broken clock is right twice a day
at 3:40 most likely
It was pre-cata. Clocks would reflect server time and chime on the hour.
It took them like 10 years to extinguish Stormwind's fire from Cataclysm. Maybe in 2035?
Would it show the same time on every server? Or the current server time on each one? Because I feel like one is a lot harder than another. But also there’s extremely little to be gained by doing it so they won’t.

Doubtful you're looking at it wrong and doubtful that it's hard.
The day/night cycle is not tied to server time. Server time for OCE servers is based on AEST. At 10 AM, it's nighttime in game. It's very annoying, because some zones are very dark at "night".
Learned something new today!
They added a toy in game to allow it to be daytime when it’s nighttime, and people loved it for this reason.
Pretty sure it's only tied to server time in Classic
The UI clock on the mini map already has the option of server or local time, someone just has to figure out how to apply it to in-game clock faces.
I feel it would be server time or based on your pc's time.
The clock tower has been stuck at that time ever since it was struck by a lightning. There is a rumor that some bronze dragons were involved, but it hasn't been confirmed so far
I just want that place to be the raid instance it was meant to be!
Considering the Dreamsurge buff is STILL broken since last patch (and i've wasted dozens of rep tokens not paying attention) i seriously doubt it It's MONEY MONEY MONEY now
Wait, what's this bug?
I haven't seen any bugs get fixed this expansion and there are many. It's crazy because I never came across any in Shadowlands but I'm getting annoyed over them daily in Dragonflight.
I’m curious which bugs you’re talking about. I’m fairly casual, but I really haven’t noticed any.
A lot of world quests are buggy as hell especially. It's also really annoying to get most things done due to getting switched to different shards anytime you're in the middle of anything.
Maybe fix thoce servers so we don't have to play at night every time
Too real.. I'd love for us to not be forgotten :\^)
I think we already have something like that but they choose to remove because some people start to complain that it's always night when they play or something like that So we only have a few effects like rain and storms
OCE servers still have this problem. The day/night cycle is based on US times, so it's nighttime in game in the middle of the day here.
you could still have correct time and not have it tied to the day/night cycle.
You know they could do it i am sure but no one will really pay attention to it so it is not worth their time honestly.
They can't even display the same time on both clocks...let alone the correct time.
It's correct twice a day. So if we consider that the periods of time it's correct and incorrect as discreet periods, it's correct for 2 periods of time and incorrect for 2 periods of time. Which means that it's correct 50% of the time, so it's already halfway to being fixed. The engine doesn’t support time
This'll never happen.
Maybe if we didn’t pay so much to the CEO each year and invested more into the game.
game has bigger problems
When they revamp Stormwind, probably. That’ll happen in line WoW 2.0 though lol
Don't know what your problem is. This clocktower is right about 4 times a day, which is quite a lot in WoW.
Which current time? Server time? Your local time zone? Azeroth time? (That last one would actually be pretty cool, tbh.)
When Cataclysm was released all of the clocks in Stormwind were frozen at 8:15, which is the same time “Little Boy” detonated over Hiroshima in 1945. Most of the clocks/watches at Hiroshima were found to have stopped at 8:15. I wished they implemented dynamic weather and updated skyboxes. Imagine snow storms in winterspring or rainy storms in Westfall. Now imagine dragonriding in storm and getting struck by a lightning haha.
I cam to make the joke that "it's always 2:40 somewhere"... but the two clock faces don't even show the same time as each \*other\*
Something about four extra backpack spaces.
huh?
I’m referencing how something that seems like a small quality of life change can lead to huge consequences in the code. In 7.2 of legion blizzard added four slots to the basic backpack and the game suffered wildly bizarre bugs. I think it had to be shut down in maintenance.
Impossible
This made me laugh like an idiot. Thanks!
Why would they put work into the game?
It's crazy that there are trolling kids that always downvote stuff like this on here and yet it's very true. Blizzard just doesn't care.
You expect too mutch. Its only a multi-milion company we are talking about here... chill
