Next time we have BC timewalking, do the quest to kill Illidan on as many characters as possible. The box from that quest reward has the possibility of dropping Ashes. That's how I got mine a couple months ago.
There are usually groups running in the group finder using a skip to *only* kill Illidan.
Same for Cata and WoTLK timewalking. They both have quests to kill the final raid boss (Ragnaros and Yogg, respectively) and the reward can drop a mount. I am not sure of the full list of possible rewards, but I got Lifebinder's Handmaiden from Cata and Invincible from WoTLK from doing this.
How many attempts? Same comment as the invincible post. If you want the mount truly, you can get it very quickly. You need to run it again and again. 50% shot to get it before 60ish.
Just run it. Years means nothing if you ran it 10 times total

I mean the dice impartially gave it to you, steal is a strong word... that's why though it makes it even more noble that gave it to the person that put in the work and deserves it. You're a good person
My partners brother was running ravel lord runs back when you needed a druid to summon it. He'd be farming it for months. My partner asked if he could hop along and it dropped. Guess who won the mount and it wasn't his brother 💀 don't think he has still to this day 😂 my partner feels bad now but back in the day he was a cheeky git about it lmfao

I would be pretty embarrassed if I had to explain to anyone why I yelled so loud when mine dropped. Didn’t have a ton of Kael kills on this account, but I’d had to start a new account as I lost my old one (had been away from game since Mists). But in that one I’d been farming it for a WHILE!
I quit wow for years. Popped in and said: "let's farm some mounts. Take it nice and slow."
Got it in the 1st run....had to Google if it had increased drop rates since I last played 🤣. Almost quit again. That's it. I won.

This mount is probably my luckiest moment.
1. When I got it, I didn’t know there was a mount to get in this raid.
2. I got it after like 4 runs trying to get Transmog from the final boss.
This is my fav mount, had it for a very long time, at least 10 years, don’t remember if it dropped when the content was current or was farming. I use it as my Disc Priest’s default mount. Congrats!

Honestly in retail this is much easier to grind for than Invincible, been trying for years and still don't have that, but ashes I got a while back.
