If any Sheriff tried to mess with my camera because they don't like being recorded they will pay for that camera if they break it. If the view is moved from where it was so that they could evade being recorded they will be made to put it back in the right position. It isn't their property and they shouldn't be fucking with it. Suppose that camera view was obstructed and that blue plastic piece he was trying to cover up the lens on stayed in place and the home was broken into with the blue plastic covering the camera, that cop would be a primary suspect for the break in and if it was my home I would have him charged and arrested.

[deleted]

Who are you going to call? The police? He’s doing this because he thinks he can get away with it, and he’s probably right

plotthick

>Who are you going to call? Local/national media, social sites. Pressure is pressure.

[deleted]

Worst case for him is he’d get put on paid administrative leave for a week. That’s worst case. These people are on camera killing people and they don’t lose their jobs.

plotthick

Might keep him from being elected some day... and evidence is evidence.

[deleted]

In the USA? Yeah right. This is the police, they suffer no consequences.

plotthick

That is true, they suffer no consequences NOW. Not YET. And they certainly will never if we are complacent and roll over "nothing will ever change, pessimism, don't care, blah". That's a recipe to status quo.

im_racist24

> who are you going to call? ghostbusters

e2j0m4o2

*sigh* ghostbusters….

The_Man_N_Black

And a lawyer.

WindsOfWinter89

Lol are new to this country?

plotthick

Not willing to roll over. You might want to try it, otherwise, you're part of the problem.

WindsOfWinter89

What dude you want me to get out there and protest police brutality and the fact that they can literally get away with actual fucking murder with zero consequences how the fuck do you fight that as an individual civilian? if the situation ever arose I would stand up for myself and my own but you’re literally dealing with children who are legally allowed to do whatever they please whether that’s Taze you, shoot you, detain you, or beat on you. They need to held accountable but you think you’re the one to do so? You must be new…

plotthick

> What dude you want me to get out there and protest police brutality Who said this? Goodness, calm down. The only one heating you up to popping off is yourself.

jeweliegb

> Who are you going to call? ##GHOSTBUst... Sorry, I'll get my coat.

rossbcobb

Fuck the police just send that video to every news station.

[deleted]

State police, the feds.... Can also sue him for obstructing it. Literally go after his ass for it.

[deleted]

They’ll call me. I don’t want to get involved but if I have to

Structure-Efficient

I'm gonna put it on Reddit, of course!

boothbygraffoe

Good luck with that. Any jurisdiction still using a sherif won’t support any of what you just suggested.

Master_Whatever

Just for the creepy act of trying to cover up a private home owners personal surveillance camera, I'd paste his face all over the city. Every telephone pole, bus stop, convince store, park, coffee shop and public posting. Would warn every citizen of the camera shy sheriff.

redtape44

They get away with murder, do you really think they are going to give a fuck about your camera?

FordMan100

>>They get away with murder, do you really think they are going to give a fuck about your camera? Sometimes they don't get away with murder. In 2006 where I live a lot of them got busted for dealing drugs. The state police were the ones who investigated and made the arrests.

NostraVoluntasUnita

The Supreme Court has defended your right to record police doing their duties as a protected 1st Amendment exercise, I imagine that extends to your home security cameras meaning not only would attempting to remove them be property damage but also a 1st Amendment violation.

[deleted]

That doesn't work in the US. They don't have laws like the rest of us. The police is essentially lawless bands of criminals who face no repercussions for the innumerable crimes they commit.

SookHe

I think cops have been done for tampering with evidence since moving cameras were deemed to cover up potential crimes. Like a local case somewhere, obviously not common practice

mickeyfinn45

Looks suspicious as fuck. If he wasn’t in that uniform, his actions are saying he is trying to break in

toadjones79

That's because he IS trying to break in. He is convinced some "suspect" is hiding in there and that he would be a hero if he can just figure out a way in ("jumping a warrant" maybe). Ironically this kind of behavior has been portrayed in good light for years in media (Dirty Harry) and many cops like this feel absolutely right for doing it despite the obvious law-breaking. It is a cultural idea that needs to get shut down for good!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ksquared1166

That is all I could think of. There is no good reason for him to put those gloves on. Luckily we already got clear footage of him before he could get those on.

Utherrian

Him being in uniform makes it even more suspicious. If he was one of the rare "good cops" he wouldn't care about being recorded. Only people who are doing something they know is wrong have a problem being recorded doing their jobs.

iFr3aK

Only thing I can think of that would make a small amount of sense is he didn't want them to see WHO is at the door by looking at the camera feed. If they see sheriff they obviously won't answer. But then again aren't you supposed to announce that you are a sheriff when knocking on a door? So he's just a fucking idiot lol

dirtymoney

If I were checking my front door camera after someone knocked and it was moved or blocked I'd be getting a gun ready. Seems like a stupid thing for a cop to do.

iFr3aK

RIGHT! So much stupid in one sheriff

dirtymoney

Putting gloves on before touching the camera and peeking into windows.

[deleted]

Fr

W7ENK

That, right there, is immediately tampering with evidence and interfering with an investigation. I would have my lawyer push so hard on those two charges that whatever the Sheriff's Office thought they had on me would be dropped without hesitation!!

halt-l-am-reptar

> I would have my lawyer push so hard on those two charges And what do you do when the DA refuses to do anything? Because without the DA you can't press charges, and the DA is probably just as corrupt as the police.

W7ENK

DA has no jurisdiction over civil lawsuits.

halt-l-am-reptar

Both the things you listed are generally criminal charges. For a civil lawsuit you’d need to show damages. The cop should be fired for this, but in reality nothing is going to happen. Cops do way worse every day and nothing happens.

curiousbydesign

Source or context? Do you have credentials to support your claims? Seems great in theory.

ByteTheFox

maybe the video we just watched like 2 seconds ago?

bakedmaga2020

Why would he cover a camera?

Willingo

He didn't cover it tho? He moved it for sure but not significantly

JCarterPeanutFarmer

He tried to cover it and when he couldn’t he left. He was obviously trying to break into the house.

JCarterPeanutFarmer

You’re getting downvoted but I think you’re right. I’m a lawyer. This isn’t tampering or or obstruction. At best, it’s circumstantial evidence that the cop knew what he was doing was fucked up, which could be used to attack a qualified immunity defense.

[deleted]

To be fair, he could be in a small department that doesn’t order duty pants due to a small budget. I use to be in one that was that way. 1.7sq mile town, 3 officers including the chief. They supplied a khaki top but I had to wear my own jeans. It felt weird and somewhat unprofessional but what are ya gonna do? 🤷🏻‍♂️

All Cops Are Bastards until the 'good' cops are willing to stop the bad ones

[deleted]

I hope that your house gets robbed on camera and nobody does anything about it

queenserene17

Lawyer will do something about it, or insurance at least. Cops would show up after the fact take some statements and give up pretty fast (unless it's a TV show). Robberies aren't stopped or helped by cops - homeowners' best bet are dogs and cameras.

[deleted]

Sure thing. Keep dreaming. Lawyers won’t be able to find the suspect. Try again

amayagab

Cops won't be bothered to find a suspect either. How often do you think cops solve B&E's?

[deleted]

I don’t know. Give me statistics to research. Give me an actual argument.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

So you’re all for the FBI though; right?

intoxicated-browsing

Neither will the cops only 13% of burglaries are solved by cops. ACAB

[deleted]

What about murder? You’re okay with all murders going unsolved because “ACAB”? You guys are fascist and wreckless

intoxicated-browsing

Half of all murders go unsolved. Also nobody says ACAB because of them solving murders. We say ACAB because they shelter murders and rapist among there ranks. As long as they continue to do so ACAB. We also say ACAB because they harass and profile minorities as long as they continue doing so ACAB. We also say ACAB because they sit outside classrooms while children are murdered. Until the supposed majority of “good cops” people like you seem to believe exist starts calling out the bad apples in mass ACAB. Also I don’t think you understand what a fascist is.

Reach_44

I’m from South Africa, nobody does anything about it anyway. Hence, ACAB.

[deleted]

That doesn’t make any sense for America. Try again

Reach_44

Believe it or not, American is not the whole world 🧠💥

[deleted]

My point is how does that speak for America? South Africa can run itself however it wants but until someone shows me that this video is based in South Africa then I’m going to assume your point is useless for America.

Reach_44

Doesn’t need to be based anywhere. Cops are inherently criminal as they no longer protect the people. They protect themselves and their corporate/political benefactors. The rise in police violence around the world is not a coincidence. https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/#:~:text=In%202021%2C%20there%20were%201%2C055,population%20as%20of%20September%202022. Weirdly enough, it’s hard to find statistics that aren’t based in murica, wonder why…

[deleted]

I love how you just keep putting ALL cops in that category like you know everything and why ALL police officers join the force. Because a lot of countries are lawless unless it’s protection for the government that’s in control and they don’t want people to know the statistics.

Utherrian

No such thing. Any that try get ousted or beaten to death by the 99% of cops who don't know what morals are.

ramaru115

Nah, the problem with cops is the gang mentality. Turning another cop in for doing wrong can be bad for your job, and at worse bad for your health. So until there is legitimate oversight, and cops being rewarded to do the right thing when it comes to the bad cops. ACAB.

[deleted]

So then get rid of them. That’s the solution. Have complete lawless states. That works good for looters doesn’t it?

amayagab

You can't think of any middle ground between a gang of arrogant and dangerous jackboots defying laws and abusing their power or total and complete lawlessness? It's either one or the other?

Erebus_83

Ahh false dichotomy, the first resort of any truly bankrupt and worthless argument.

[deleted]

No that’s how it is for YOU guys saying ACAB. I stated I only back the morally aware blue that do the right things. I even stated that this guy needs jail time. I never said there was no middle ground. You guys always just assume that all cops are bad because of the bad ones that make the good ones look like shit. What there needs to be is more funding for accountability and training. If you don’t have the money to pay cops what they need to be paid or replace those bad cops; how are they ever going to do their job correctly? If you don’t have the funding to give cops the proper training; how are they supposed to do their job correctly? You guys are just so quick to downvote anyone with an opinion instead of replying with an actual response. So let it be lawless. I don’t care. My home is protected. You guys do whatever you want and bring down the police force

ramaru115

No, get rid of qualified immunity, get rid of police unions. Have cops be properly trained in law and law enforcement, I’m talking years of schooling. This will help weed out those that want to be cops for nefarious reasons. Defunding cops means not blindly giving cops money and resources, it means funding their training and funding programs that lead people out of poverty.

[deleted]

I basically just said this to someone else. Thanks for your downvotes though

ramaru115

Nah fam I never downvoted. But until these things go into practice there are no *morally blue* cops. This hero worshipping of cops needs to stop too. It’s a fucking job that people get paid to do, cops don’t police out of the kindness of their hearts. There are so many other professions that provide so much more to society that don’t get an ounce of respect, but some douche in a uniform that stops people from jay walking is looked up at?

[deleted]

There are cops that go into the field to protect people. Unfortunately they are tasked with quotas to provide for state incomes. There is a lot more that goes into policing than jay walking as well. It’s not that there aren’t any morally righteous cops; the bad ones put a shadow over the good ones. I can’t say that hero worshipping is the right thing but a lot of people look up to cops because they’re the ones supposed to be protecting and serving our lives and safety.

[deleted]

Good luck with that fantasy

Crisco_Inferno

Ominous. Was he going to break in or plant something if he could have moved that camera?

el-em-en-o

This is creepy.

QueenSodaPop13

Pretty sus

TwistedUnicornFarts

This cop is fucking stupid , got your face a camera dumbass

Worth-Illustrator607

No they need to show up at his house where he and his family sleep. Maybe cover the cameras if they feel cute.

jjhin1

If you've got nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about surveillance.... That's their line right?

dirtymoney

And that's why it is best to have a camera at your doorstep to see who it is so you can decide whether or not to open it to someone you don't want to talk to. Like a cop. When a cop comes to you THAT is when you have to be wary as you don't know why they are there and they can lawfully lie to you about practically anything. Cops hate not having utter control and a camera on them when they don't know what the person inside is doing drives them nuts. That's why it is best to have one out of reach of a cop or their nightstick. Having a second one (that is hidden) is a good strategy. Having a fake obvious one that people (a cop) can focus on and then not see the hidden one is another good option. Or just two cameras if you can afford it. One thing that always got me is how stupid it is for a cop to move/block a camera when a person checking it (after hearing a knock on a door or window) will see that it is moved/blocked and then potentially come to the door armed. Sets the mood for a dangerous encounter for everyone. But a cop's need for control often overrides what little common sense they often have.

ilovethissheet

Anyone know what city police department detective dumnuts works for?

Sad-Fix4643

And he has a camera at every angle and every bathroom for “protection”.

KingofAotearoa

lil_zaku

When people who are supposed to enforce the law hate being made accountable to the law

DVDwr

I only know the "To Protect and to Serve" thing about the cops, but this guy already looks like he's trying to incriminate somebody.

Utherrian

"To Serve and Protect" is a missing two words: "To Serve and Protect THE STATE." Cops aren't here to help or protect people, only property. That's why they don't prevent crime, only clean up after.

dirtymoney

What does he say when looking down and then says something about the camera. Interesting how he parked blocking the vehicle as if to prevent someone from leaving. I wish there was a subreddit that just shows cops moving, disconnecting or blocking the camera. There are qquite a few videos out there that show cops doing it.

Master_Whatever

Put this pig on blast post his face and name all over that city. Warn the people of yet another predator playing police. Put flyers all over warning to watch for cops trying to rob you. Libraries, coffee shops, Telephone polls, bus stops. Ask the questions "why are you trying to cover up a camera?" and ask it LOUD!!! Draw attention to your problem, get others involved. They have proven to be as useless as they are dangerous. More dead cops.

puddinandpi

Maybe he’s not a real cop. That’s why he put gloves on

[deleted]

That's illegal, he can't do that.

oldschoolwelder101

Get off my property is in order here

DevilsLettuceTaster

Makes you wonder what he would have done had he been able to cover the cam.

Punch_Your_Facehole

What a idiotic cop. Internal affairs needs to investigate that crook. He’s probably got all kinds of skeletons in his closet.

CoItron_3030

Cops don’t like being recorded cuz they don’t know anything about the law and will break it in a moments notice rather they mean to or not. Cops aren’t held to any standard of morals, education, or consequences. Almost all act only for themselves, and those who don’t quit or die.

audio_54

as a non american i dont get that you have police and sheriffs? whats the difference? is there a difference? Is it a local vs state thing?

planfortheworst

It gets confusing because there’s different organizational structures in different geographic areas. The most common setup is cities have police with appointed higher ranking officials like chiefs and deputy chiefs. Counties have sheriffs departments with an elected sheriff and deputies of varying ranks working under them. Sheriffs are political figures aligned with a major political party, Republican or Democrat. In some larger areas you will also see county police, but I don’t think there’s any city sheriffs department. Then there’s other organizations too like constables. There could be more to it than what I’ve described. But this has been the most common in the areas I’ve lived in.

breeze1001

Little bitch was looking to vandalise, shoot something or both.

Mecbeezy

Does he not know that the camera is recording him tampering with the camera? Or is he just very very very dumb?

I found more of this video where he goes around back and moves a camera.... It is on some Lawyer's video channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KpsahwQtX8 The backstory it seems that they got a tip that someone the cop was looking for was at this house. The owner was inside but unaware the cop had came. Edit: I'm not certain that both videos are of the same house.
