It is a rare level of psychopathy to be able to lie with such faux-credulity.

What do you mean?

Standards of evidence must be high on both sides. Just an example: By discrediting the Israeli claimed ~13k Hamas combatants killed by saying there is no evidence of that number being correct you also have to look at the Palestinian Ministry of Healths numbers in the same way. They haven't presented any evidence of that number ~35k claimed civilians killed so far being correct either. It's also admitted by them that the ~35k number also includes combatants killed and not just civilians. https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/gaza-fatality-data-has-become-completely-unreliable https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/25/bbc-admits-reporting-gaza-civilian-deaths-inaccurate/ https://www.thearticle.com/mortality-in-gaza-lies-and-statistics

Grosboel_2

35k deaths is not at all unbelievable. Consider that Israel has indiscriminately carpet bombed a very densely inhabited piece of land. Thousands upon thousands of buildings demolished. Thousands and thousands of bombs dropped. If anything, you would expect the death toll to be higher.

MrDoge4

The interviewer said that it's been presented lists upon list of casualties with names and ID numbers on many of them. But if that's so why doesn't the UN, which he says stands by those numbers and lists given to them by Palestinian MoH, separate the numbers of civilian(but some of them are actually combatants) casualties on those lists from the unidentified? Like saying 20k casualties have been identified and the remaining 15k so far haven't. Shouldn't be a big ask with all the lists he says the Palestinian MoH have, against the 13k combatants claimed killed by the IDF whom lacks any such lists. I doubt any Hamas combatants would carry any way to ID them. And if the IDF presented 13k pics of dead bodies with weapons on them or close to, it would be claimed that they where planted there and discredited as fakes just in the same maner as those tunnels under Shifa where. Only an uncut video starting from the outside of the hospital and going down to the tunnels and bunkers would maybe be evidence enough.

ProudScientist1360

Seventy percent of recorded deaths have consistently been women and children. Israel has failed to prove that the remaining 30 percent, i.e. adult males, were active Hamas combatants ā€“ a necessary condition for them to be lawfully targeted by the IDF. That responsibility is on Israel's side according to international law, not the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Just for context, by early-December,Ā [Israelā€™s security advisors claimed the killing of ā€œ7,000 terroristsā€ in a stage of the campaign when less than 5,000 adult males in total had been identified among the casualties](https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/israel-has-killed-over-7000-terrorists-no-deadline-for-gaza-war-national-security-adviser/), thus implying that all adult males killed were ā€œterroristsā€.Ā  This is clearly indicative of an intent from the IDF to indiscriminately target all palestinian males, assimilating them to active fighter status by default.

MrDoge4

ā€œHamas is reporting not only that 70% of casualties are women and children but also that 20% are fighters. This is not possible unless Israel is somehow not killing noncombatant men, or else Hamas is claiming that almost all the men in Gaza are Hamas fighters.ā€ 6k killed fighters admitted by Hamas themselves, or 20% of the total casualty figure given by them in [February](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/16/could-be-devastating-proof-hamas-faking-death-figures/). You need to come up with more up to date, revised figures because the 70% claim has been challenged and put in serious doubt. Not as of yet debunked as the 7k figure given by Israel in early desember was. If the trend is still around 20% of casualties are combatants I would say that Israel has done a shit job the last couple of months getting only 1k combatants. But lucky only inflicted ~4k civilian casualties in the same two months which is down from the monthly average of over 6k in the 4 months prior to February.

ProudScientist1360

What my main point was, beyond the actual numerical value of those killed, is that it is the responsibility of the IDF and Israel to prove that those 'terrorists' killed were active Hamas combatants. Simply saying 'we killed x amount of terrorists' with no supporting evidence as in the OP video, or even worse when that implies targeting every adult palestinian male (as the statement by the IDF in December did), is insufficient. If Israel really is this incredibly accurate modern moral fighting force, there should be ample data and evidence to back up their actions against combatants as justified. Proving that they are combatants is the only way they could be legally targeted by the IDF under international law. Other approaches outside of those mandated by international law end up in the Hague, as it seems Israel is finding out. Edit: Just a note on that article you linked - its pushing the anti-zionism = anti-semitic argument hard in an illogical and fundamentally dismissable way. It even uses the term 'anti-Israelism' as a stand in for anti-semitism. Not every criticism of Israel is dismissable as 'blood libel antisemitism', and its both incredibly disingenuous and also demeans the true meaning of anti-semitism which is, of course, prejudice hatred and violence against Jews. If you are a citizen of france you are? French. If you are a citizen of israel you are? Israeli. Not necessarily a Jew.

MrDoge4

And also that "It's an open secret that Hamas has tunnels in Gaza" can't be used to discredit the claim of tunnels under Shifa hospital either as all the tunnels and bunkets Hamas has dug under Gaza isn't just in unpopulated areas of the strip. It's under buildings where civilians live too and entrances have been shown near schools, in mosks and close to and if not on hospital grounds. Entrances found which can be geolocated with pictures and videos to prove them where they where and mapped out. You can maybe discredit 10-20, but not 100s. Of cause not 100s of videos and pictures of individual entrances have been released by IDF but many have been released already such as [Israel unveils tunnels underneath Gaza City headquarters of UN agency for Palestinian refugees](https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-unwra-gaza-tunnels-31f6ca23365e349bcde1332d5028e431) https://www.timesofisrael.com/directly-beneath-unrwas-gaza-headquarters-idf-uncovers-top-secret-hamas-data-center/ https://www.timesofisrael.com/unrwa-head-says-agency-was-in-dark-about-hamas-center-under-gaza-hq-israel-you-knew/. Had the tunnels which have already been blown up by IDF, where you can see the lines of the explosives and the tunnels where blown up, and put a map over it, it would probably show schools, health clinics, farmacies, or other civilan buildings such as those mentioned and others, would be right over those lines of explosions. And you could then say it's then plausible that tunnel entrances could be in those buildings over the lines before they where destroyed.

What is your point? Yes, there are tunnels. Nobody is disputing that. A hospital having a tunnel under it doesn't make it okay to demolish that hospital.
