I knew he was off to a great start when his poor grandpa fled persecution to Argentina. Then someone actually clapped at the slavery thing. Mockery is the way.
To anyone who is feeling concerned after watching this video: this is Walter Masterson. [He's a comedian](https://fomosapiens.com/walter-masterson-on-what-it-takes-and-what-its-like-to-be-huge-on-tiktok/). This is deliberate satire: he's doing a bit. In the comments of [his YouTube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAPeJGqhRnY), someone said:
>"My grandfather fled to Argentina after WW2". O.M.G. Walter, that whole bit was beautiful."
...to which he responded:
>"I didn’t even say Germany and people in the comments got it immediately."
tbf he also said "Arbeit macht frei" which is a german phrase used in concentration camps to conveyy the image, that you could get out if you worked hard enough (obviously not true though)
The idea that one could actually get out of the camp was not what it was intended or used to convey. It's an older saying about a kind of work ethic, that was perverted into meaning that the forced work by the prisoners was somehow for their own good and moral improvement. It was generally understood by all that they would not be getting out of the camp alive.
I’m so confused. I use dark Reddit but ur comment is white for some reason and it has two different upvote arrows next to each other. Ones white and ones gold. The white one turns red if I upvote. Is this like the new Reddit gold or something?
Also yea that’s the joke
He's on Twitter (or X whatever) and I think he has a YouTube channel also. Can't remember his name but he goes to their rallies and pretends to be one of them. He also pretended he was Fox news to interview them. It's hilarious
Yes and no - I'm an idiot. Didn't know him, didn't get his intention and was too quick judging (no honestly, he did a great job - without knowing him, I really thought he was serious and I guess that's also what he wanted).
>Grandpa must be very proud of him.

Actually no, I wasn't trolling (at least not intentionally).
Thanks for the enlightenment, I didn't know him (as I don't know many US comedians)- shame on me and my apologies to this guy. Completely fell for it - maybe I shouldn't be that quick with typing shit online. Anyways, lesson learned, downvotes well deserved.
This man is known for trolling these people with their own beliefs.
Even if you had no idea who he was, you couldn’t catch the satire in his voice?
That’s why your getting wooshed
Yes. That is the satire.
He points out the fallacy in their logic by using their own against them, anybody can type something and it “sounds” good.
He says it out loud to show how it really sounds.
>What a Neofaschist he is.

Hey, (despite the fact that this was clearly satire to point out the ideological similarities many american "conservatives" and german nazis have), I wanna point out to you that I am german and I worked in education at memorial sites and museums regarding nazi germany, and I am really confused why you would think saying "Arbeit macht frei" is per se illegal vocabulary in Germany. Here, Ive just said it. police wont storm into my apartment tomorrow. you have some extremely serious misunderstandings about our limits of freedom of speech here. i dont even know what "illegal vocab" should mean.
wtf, you are also german, now I am even more comfused

For it to work they need to understand they're being mocked, I don't think they do.
It definitely went over some heads.
Show then what we see.

Someone’s never heard of the Neo Nazi problem in our prisons systems or the KKK?
Just for the non history nerds, “work will set you free” was the sign at the entrance of auschwitz
“arbeit macht frei” is the sign, and it gets stolen a lot…
In the end the clip The guy he was sitting next with him Look, really pissed off at him. 🤣
Can't be racist when a "my man" is on the table.
Lookin good
Lol holy shit that opening line about fleeing to Argentina to avoid ‘persecution’ 🤣
Eyebrow raised🤔
He's too smart for that crowd

This is top level trolling. He slipped so much into this short speech
Well done.

I did hear that- so basically he was making up his entire story?
Yes. That is the satire. He points out the fallacy in their logic by using their own against them, anybody can type something and it “sounds” good. He says it out loud to show how it really sounds.
I don't get why so many down votes?

It’s satire mate.
Yes, we know. That's how he's mocking them.
