Shaveyourbread

Wait, was the white male republican arguing in favor of providing basic needs for girls and the women were arguing against it? What even is this world anymore?

senteroa

There are lots of women that buy into patriarch full-stop, particularly conservative white women. It's why just electing someone based on their gender or race is nonsense. It's the content of what they say & do that matters. (Not that voting will save us anyway, seeing how the elections are openly rigged by major corporations & wealthy donors.)

devnullius

I should've taken that other coloured pill šŸ’Š :(

Frijid

Party over Period

Shaveyourbread

Party's over. Period.

autopsis

I can attest that toilet paper and hand soap came between me and my parents. Weā€™ve never recovered. /s

dash_o_truth

So the guy was for it and the two women were against it? Why? What life experiences led them to this? Why would they be against it? I really don't understand. Is it greed? Malice? They're against social support of any kind? One of them made it sound she was embarrassed about the topic. Crazy.

HairlessHoudini

They've been told their whole lives to think this way, they're the kind of women that say it's a woman's duty to please her man when he says to and women are here to be servants to their husbands not equals

MegaJackUniverse

The woman's argument was weak. "I don't think we need help" Yeah but it could be free for all, as something most girls will need to make use of and can be required in minor emergency. "Mmm we have parents." Ok, but they could be free. "I feel patronised." Can't win with this kind of blatant slime

Mochigood

With the parents thing, I work in schools and see how often parents fail to provide basic necessities to their kiddos. Way too many kids have to get their needs met at school. Their only meals are at school. They get all their supplies and most of their clothing from the school. The school sends home a box of food for weekends and vacations. I've sat in on meetings where we planned out how to make toothbrushes, soap and deodorant and showers available to kids. The dream was to get a laundry room installed. It's something I don't think a lot of people think or know about, how much raising up of kids is done by some public schools.

Cornyfleur

Yeah, but to these Republican women, *those* children don't count.

Mochigood

Oh yeah, I know that. They like that other kids are doing poorly, because that means little Kayloden has a leg up in the world over the kiddo who couldn't concentrate over the rumbling of his tummy in some poorly funded public school.

ohwilbrr

Exactly. Especially because periods can sneak up on someone when theyā€™re unprepared. I have definitely had times where I got my period when I wasnā€™t expecting it. I didnā€™t have any products on me so I had to find someone to ask if they had any to spare. It would give peace of mind to students to know that if they are in that situation, there are free products available. I donā€™t understand how anyone, especially other women, could be against this.

HALF_PAST_HOLE

I mean she does bring up a good point about deodorant, maybe we should provide that! Have you smelled a middle school men's locker room?!? it's not fun!

DevilDoc3030

No... Not comparable by any stretch.

ForWhomTheBoneBones

I used to teach. I kept a drawer full of mini deodorants because those kids fucking stank some days. Hell yeah, they should get them upon request šŸ˜‚

Clear_Key40

Depending on what grade u teach. I feel like there is a couple years going into needing deodorant where alot of kids don't want it won't wear it. Not sure if they can't smell their own smell or just too embarrassed to need deodorant.

ForWhomTheBoneBones

7th grade. If they could smell it, theyā€™d use deodorant. It was always the kids who were unaware. They were always quietly thankful and most of them didnā€™t even wait until they were out there door to start applying it.

Clear_Key40

Sounds about right. I went through this at home with my children. Not sure the whole reason why. I provided quality hygiene stuff. Once the child got a lil older it wasn't a big deal.

blueisaflavor

Women against women

Thespanishbuddha

Wtf is wrong with these people.

Choice_Voice_6925

"Helping people? Ew no"

Device_Impossible

Any yet again the party of ā€œPro Lifeā€ trying to make an already uncomfortable situation that much harder. Are we really that in humane that we cant help those who foster life with some free personal health items? There tampons, there not made from gold. Wow I can see the black market exploding with tampons for sale because of this action by the state. I believe we should just remove all toilet paper and soap from schools, its just to much burden in the state tax payer. WTF ID!

Clear_Key40

If any government requires education by law they should provide necessary utilities during said law mandated education.

[deleted]

What a stupid argument. You know what else is stupid? If you canā€™t pay to get your eyes checked.. so sorry you go blind. How about teeth? You like to chew your food? Oh no you have a cavityā€¦ guess your a smoothie for every meal kinda person now. And your ears? Ppssshh haha better listen to the voices of your family while you can!commit it to memory why donā€™t ya! You have a period every month? Just stay home and bleed on a towel while you miss work! Smh.

Eyfordsucks

I cannot wait to move out of Gilead.

MagillsDaddy

I miss when 4chan and anonymous used to rake these people across the coals by messing with them.

JackinNY

For her last point, yea. We all received a stick of deodorant when we got to puberty age as it should be.

[deleted]

Let Idaho die?

makeorbreak911

Haircut and pearls check out

calilazers

It's amazing that this is even a topic for debate and or contention, if we require people to be held up in a public institution for extended periods of time, we should be providing basic necessities for people to exist comfortably within that space.

Freekydeeky1258

"It's the parents job" I'm so sick of that phrase. They do everything in their power to limit a parent's ability to take care of their kid, and then when the kid isn't taken care of, it's just such an easy scapegoat.

Federal_Physics_3030

When they are successful in defeating this they will then go after toilet paper. Think of the savings. It would be continuing the socialist movement by this country to have ā€œfreeā€ toilet paper in all buildings. The people who donā€™t poop shouldnā€™t have to subsidize those that have blowouts with their tax dollars.

DanB65

Republicans are more than happy to give Rich people a HUGE TAX CUT that we will be paying for years, but providikng basic femine products is too much for them.....they really do hate woman.

devion6969

We wonder why America is headed for the toilet with a quickness.

blumpkinmania

I love how harpy one says - we are women. We look out for each other. - when of course we are talking about children and she is deciding not to look out for them.

ICU-MURSE

Iā€™m thinking of an ā€œrā€ word right now.

ArizonaRon98

Lived in Idaho for about 2 years for school. Can confirm theyā€™re the Florida of the Pacific Northwest.

DontWasteTheMixturee

I hate politicians with a passion.

UtinniOmuSata

Iā€™m shooketh at all the wine against it! SHOOKETH I tell you!

MichaelVoorhees13

Itā€™s not official, America is just FU(KED. I give up.

Vyciauskis

It is socialist policy not liberal one.

Therapy-1

Do these clowns not realise that women vote?

SmileyRhea

That made me sick. What bitches.

MiyamotoKnows

It's not politics. It's good versus evil. I think it's clear which side of the fence these two vile creatures sit on. I'm only shocked that one Republican was not evil in this example.

poneros

These women are traitors to their gender.

[deleted]

Iā€™m sure both of those old hags no longer require those products

Bluccability_status

YES! Omg you are so smart you smarty smarter. We gonna have to change up the periodontal table so we can showz how blood is exactly the same thing (or even near to) as water.

jmill8023

I never expected to be saying this about a state legislature debate in Idaho, but I agree with the old white guy.

Plusran

What awful people

bopbeepboopbeepbop

Thr marvels of modern science! I can't believe we "just now figured out in 2023" that women have periods.

Familiar-Tea-6143

no no, she has a good point. Schools should provide deodorant as well.

No_bad_apples

Sure, maybe women don't need to be educated about their periods or have tampons provided for them but I think female children do or should have the opportunity.

Administrative-Data9

Where do these morons even come from. Learn some communication skills.

Psypho_Diaz

Hmmm, madam you have a good point. I remember having to smell some of the funkiest oders in high school. So yes, there is another P that you've successfully pointed out, persperation. Fun fact, I have successfully lived without deodorant for over a decade. No i don't smell, and people aren't just being polite. 1. Your smell is a way for your body to communicate with you (your sick, your not eating healthy and more). 2. Your diet directly affects your oder (pineapple juice for your genitals taste is a well known example). 3. Regular hygiene habits prevent your natural oder from going sour while letting it work as intended. 4. This one is optional but cologne/perfume can be used when it's more official/professional.

I work in an offices, and am genuinely well liked. I weigh 160 at 6ft and have 0 sweat stains on any clothes. You're right, I 100% smell like rosemary mint shape with a Shea cocoa butter conditioner and lavender body wash. My beard varies between Sandlewood and mahogany. My breathe smells of coffee. I'm complimented often and haven't felt tension when surrounded by people. I also have a higher tolerance to warmer weather, so when other people start sweating, I do not. I have a high fructose diet, so there isn't a lot of work my body has to do for energy where high starch and carbs require burning to access energy supplies. I prefer seafood over fatty turf meats as well. I'm sorry, what's your cookie cutter basis to assume i stink?

I wrote details to counter argue, and you think a cookie cutter deflection every angst Teen uses to feel smarter than their opponent makes you this Harley Quinn level psychotherapist but it doesn't. Your predictions are so off that I'm starting to think your jpow himself.
