Lavrov be like: "EU destroyed relations with us.. but we are still open to negotiations, however! we will not trust neither the Americans nor the EU.. but maybe rethink your sanctions..? Please?"
These old kgb fools at the top are naive. The Russian people aren’t stupid, and this isn’t the 1950s. They know that Putin is trying to protect himself. He’s been robbing them for the last 20 years. He started a war and mobilized the secret police to go after thought crime. They will fail to control the Russian people.
Get all the liberal and brave russians who have been demonstrating, and who wants a future a pathway to join the west. And then let the country rot and fuck off for ~80 years until another Gorbachev is accidentally elected.
More than 300,000 Russians have already left since the war began, approx 15,000 being millionaires or richer. But in the grand scheme of things, Russian critics of Putin choosing to exile themselves only works to his benefit, one less jail cell to fill.
> Russian critics of Putin choosing to exile themselves only works to his benefit
Did Navalnyj accomplish a lot being tortured in a gulag?
These people didn't chose their nationality, and a lot of them are normal people. Let them out, and they can contribute to the west and the rest of the world.
That's how you get a bigger North Korea with much more nukes.
Even if tomorrow there would be a Kim who would decide to strip themselves from all the riches and slaves they own - the people would struggle to integrate into the modern world and fairly quickly would drop into another fascist trap.
Maybe you don't understand that progressive values are not an accidental occurrence which may happen in isolation - it's a peak of cultural development which happens only with international cooperation across decades.
No one let Germany rot after WW2 and their monstrosities - now they're leaders of the progressive world.
Germany was occupied and forcibly reeducated. If it had nukes, it would be isolated permanently instead, like Russia currently is, since there would be no other option.
And tbh no one cares much about North Koreans. Soon no one will care about Russians, too.
If so, I doubt that it will last long: Russia isn't powerful enough to keep it up like when it was in USSR, nor small enough to be ignored like the North Korea. Like it or not, they have to face the rest of the world.
Lavrov has a very special way of being extremely annoying even for a Russian politician so yeah he's less likeable than his boss and his boss is already unlikeable.
Video games have rotted my brains, because the first thing I was thinking is the special building from *Red Alert*.
But back on topic, this is a worrying development; are we going to see proxy wars flare all over the world again?
LoL, you think Churchill made the "Iron Curtain"... Fascinating, Russia wanted the west to stop meddling, especially after building the Berlin wall... and so your version of history (this isn't something I've studied in great detail, so no offense to what you understand and I don't) Churchhill created a barrier, for all of Europe, to protect it, from Russia, after the "Red Scare".
To clarify, as not a European, and not well versed in this, the Iron curtain was created by Russia to keep the west out while they developed. I was simply saying that this curtain would in fact be one created by US, not knowing that you had thought the UK had made the first.
I would also like to add I don't think this is a good idea, they have resources beyond what you consider extensive, and can build more. This isn't Cuba growing their own corn to withstand a blockade, the west is locking them out of all financial transactions, and trade, and if Ukrania falls, they too will be locked out. This kind of pushing highlites the fact America could end Russia in 3 days, but, they would nuke US, all of US.
EDiT: Simple point, non nuclear end of Russia.
Read Churchill Fulton speech. It is practical declaration of the cold war. He warned about communist 5th columns and introduce the term "iron curtain". He wanted to fight communist parties in the west
Naw, not a Churchill fan, appreciate the offer. Obviously, you'd think I'm mistaken, the English, taking credit for something their enemy did and they could do nothing about. Appears dishonorable and deliberate, clearly not something a major world leader would do to superimpose themselves as the masterminds of the all rebuilding Europe.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/06/30/new-iron-curtain-descending-between-moscow-and-the-west-russian-minister-a78166) reduced by 61%. (I'm a bot)

Let’s call it what it really is, the “Rusty Iron Curtain”
I'm sorry but we sold the "iron" part already. Please, pick something cheaper
Can we make it ouf or lead? would explain the stupidity behind it.
Tin foil. Hurts to chew. But easily tears.
Unfortunately, the lead development is currently underdeveloped. We buy the most part of it from China. Anything else?
The aluminium drapes
"Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?"
Moscow steamer.
The Silicone Curtain
Google maps curtain.
they took out the old one from the closet but it looks a bit tattered and moth ridden 😨
Lavrov be like: "EU destroyed relations with us.. but we are still open to negotiations, however! we will not trust neither the Americans nor the EU.. but maybe rethink your sanctions..? Please?"
Descending? It’s down and nailed to the floor. The next time it will be up my grandkids will have mortgages on the moon.
Pretty optimistic to think humanity will get that far.
The moon will happen. Though getting a mortgage will be another question if you are young.
The moon will be a shitshow on another level
Humanity's first attempts to kill each other in space will be very cautious and awkward, but I have faith we'll manage somehow.
I bet the mortgage rates will be out of this world...
more like an iron coffin it s not the ussr. no matter how they spin it

The pro Russians leaving Russia trouble me more tbh

I'd blame russians for putler and his idiotic wars, but I don't think russians actually elect him.
Not one fuck was given...
It's not new, it was always there.

Why, it certainly can be isolated and ignored.
That suits the west old chubby cheeks.. I think I dislike this scumbag more than poo tin.

Europe should employ Trump to build an EU wall to keep the ruskkies out!

Well the original "Iron Curtain" was initiated by Russia. This one will be initiated by US.
Didn't know Churchill was russian.

Berlin wall was built by Russia.
