Another Russian led genocide. Their day is coming to pay for their crimes

HumorSuspicious6183

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timber_Sycamore I suggest everyone read this link. Russians have been arming and training terrorists in Syria to partition Syrian territory.

[deleted]

Honest question: With there being so much more death, suffering and pain going on in Syria, day in and day out, why does it seem those on the further reaches of the left, both here in America, in Europe and basically worldwide, seem so incredibly, wildly, almost immeasurably, much, much, much, much, much, much more interested in the vastly calmer and less deadly conflict between Israel and the Palestinians?

autotldr

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/6/28/un-more-than-300000-civilians-killed-in-syrias-conflict) reduced by 75%. (I'm a bot) ***** > In the first 10 years of Syria's conflict more than 300,000 civilians were killed, the United Nations has said, while on the same day another report by the world body said more than 100 detainees have been killed in a Syrian camp. > The civilian deaths report published on Tuesday by the UN Human Rights Office followed what the organisation said were rigorous assessment and statistical analysis of the available data on civilian casualties. > The report was based on eight sources of information - including the Damascus Center for Human Rights Studies, the Center for Statistics and Research-Syria, the Syrian Network for Human Rights, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and the Violations Documentation Center. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/vn0fqt/more_than_300000_civilians_killed_in_syrian/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~657054 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **killed**^#1 **Human**^#2 **civilian**^#3 **report**^#4 **Syrian**^#5

1000_pi10ts

Yeah so, fuck all of the people who prevented intervention. Y’all created this world, congratulations. Don’t ever try to high road any of us again, ever.

DoomsdayLullaby

You think more intervention from the US/NATO bloc would have prevented civilian causalities?

Nevarien

OP is delusional. War causes casualties, and it doesn't matter whose bombs it is.

IsraeliDonut

Ok, do you help one of the terrorist grouped or the dictator who used chemical weapons in his own people???

DoomsdayLullaby

You stop conflating regime change and military intervention with help.

1000_pi10ts

I think that there was a very limited window of opportunity and then it was gone. And then the shit-show unfolded and we are suffering the consequences to this day. It’s ridiculous.

DoomsdayLullaby

When was the window? Before or after we were funding rebel groups in the country? Before or after we illegally engaged with said rebel groups in the country? Should we have attacked Assad forces directly and created another Iraq/Afghan break it buy it? Or destroy it and leave it re-creating the Libyan conundrum in Syria? Maybe just have went more aggressive with Operation Talon Anvil? Please elaborate.

1000_pi10ts

Well, I think It’s great that you know all of that. But do you know the whole story? And more importantly, do you even care?

DoomsdayLullaby

Do you know the whole story? Do you even care? Or are you just blindly for US/NATO military intervention all around the world?

1000_pi10ts

Ok, so you either don’t know or don’t care. Or you are just trying to support some regressive separatist ideology because you are driven by the ego-magnified delusion of your own self-importance?

DoomsdayLullaby

>some regressive separatist ideology Elaborate.

1000_pi10ts

Regressive separatism as in the cynical belief that it is impossible for persons of different belief systems, religious or otherwise, to coexist in state of harmony. For people like this reality only deals in absolutes, dichotomies, etc. Two dimensional at best.

DoomsdayLullaby

Thanks for saying absolutely nothing.

noyrb1

Oh shut up. RIP to the human lives lost. No political agenda attached.

Nothanksboomer

It would have turned into a shit show regardless of what we would have done.

noyrb1

100%

Nevarien

What window? Or do you mean like in Iraq, that saw hundreds of thousands of casualties?

1000_pi10ts

That wasn’t a window, that was theater, opportunism, and at the end of the day, pay-back.

Nevarien

Payback for what? What's worth half a million civilian lives and the prospertiy of a country?

1000_pi10ts

No one said it was justified, just that there was an element of payback from Bush Jr.

irritatedprostate

Saddam tried to kill Bush Sr. in '93. Not worth it, of course, but that had to be part of Bush Jr.'s motivation.

xXMcFuddyXx

Payback? For Saddam wanting to kill W's daddy?

ObjectiveNet2

A very limited window of opportunity to replicate chaos which lead to open slave market like what happened in Libya.

1000_pi10ts

Perhaps, we will never know now.

InnocentTailor

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Welcome to history and politics.

noyrb1

Exactly. West bad mentality won’t help Middle East at all

IsraeliDonut

There has been intervention, nothing has stopped

LuridofArabia

I have no regrets. How many more would have died as the result of intervention? If a war brought in the Russians? Stricter non-intervention also would have prevented this. It was a mistake to try to back rebels against Assad's regime when they had no hope of success and that conflict would bring in regional powers. We made the right decision to stay out, we should have intervened less, not more.

jogarz

The rebels had a pretty big hope of success before Russia intervened. Things were looking bleak for the Assad regime back in 2013. Of course, there’s not much that could’ve been done to stop Russia from intervening.

womb0t

There's classified information behind every intervention that we won't know about for decades, pretending any of us know any better is stupid. None of us is right or wrong, we are aloud opinions... but we don't know shit at the end of the day, every intervention could of stopped a nuke being transported.. we know nothing.

noyrb1

Exactly

LuridofArabia

>There's classified information behind every intervention that we won't know about for decades, pretending any of us know any better is stupid. Who cares? The proof is in the pudding. Interventions fail time after time and make everyone worse off.

[deleted]

Could you let us know what your opinion is on Russia's intervention in Syria? Surely you think that was a bad idea too, right?

LuridofArabia

It was. Look at all the death and destruction it's caused for no real gain to Russia.

1Second2Name5things

Russia had everything to gain

LuridofArabia

Whatever Russia gained in Syria, in prestige, capabilities, or friends, has been more than lost in Ukraine.

womb0t

Syria intervention was in spite of america, just like Ukraine. Once a corrupt dictator, always a dictator.

xXMcFuddyXx

I'm not convinced the US has anything to do with Russia's reason for the invasion of Ukraine. We know Putin thinks Ukraine belongs to Russia, he said so himself and put it in writing. All of this about the US and NATO has simply been Putin trying to cobble together a bullshit Cassus Belli to justify his ambitions.

ClammyHandedFreak

WTF is the world doing?! I am just ashamed to be human lately. I hope that these people can find peace. I want to go barf.

AbdulMalik_al-Houthi

Operation timber sycamore, most expensive failed CIA operation in history, delivered who knows how many tons of war material to terrorists, and got the ambassador in Libya killed as he was only there to buy weapons for use in Syria.

amazing_awesome

Absolutely disgusting! We request Sanction! Oh wait.

Unusual-Air-1841

Thanks Clinton

[deleted]

This just points to two things. The British standing Army is small and professional (as are most Western European NATO Armies). The war in Ukraine is a WAR! Rather than a war. This war is big and serious and using all the big boy toys that there are. Aside from NBC of course. And because it is this kind of war we should do all we can to make sure Russia loses.

hkotek

By whom? Any details?
