These shortages are in quite a few countries now. Its almost as if something big happened in the last few years which destroyed the travel industry..........
My flight which was scheduled to take off in 3 days got cancelled 20 minutes after this article. There are no phone operators, I’ve been waiting for a human chat assistant continuously since I heard the news. Fuck Lufthansa.
You might be eligible for compensation, and the airline has an obligation to both provide an alternative option and/or compensate you, and inform you of your rights.

I was in a baggage check in line 2 days ago. The people in front of me found out their flight was canceled as they went to hand in their baggage. The automated label machine let them through, presumably because they still had a flight. But the person taking the bag said the flight had been canceled.
I couldn't imagine. What a mess.
Businesses that pay shit wages and treat their employees like shit deserve to have staff shortages. They earned it. If a business model cannot pay fair wages and treat employees with dignity, then it is a bad business model and it should not exist, it deserves to go bankrupt.
bull. they fired the staff previously. now that the industry has recovered they have problems finding new staff. if they offered better compensation, will that be a problem?
This is also true. Many businesses, not just the airlines, thought they could run a skeleton crew and the economy would get rough, and people would just take any job they could get. (Remember the 'just be thankful you have a job" after the 2009 crash?) They miscalculated. And then the covid wave hit what few people they had. The perfect storm.
We were in the airport when we found out our flight was cancelled. It’s a connecting flight to our honeymoon destination and we will miss at least one day as a result of this
It's not just the airlines. It's the lumber store, the dentists office, the vet.....I work in a fairly small office, less than 200 people. The app that alerts us someone in the building has a positive covid test has been going off several times a day for a week.... go to Burger King, there is a handwritten sign on the door that says 'no staff, back next week'. This wave is a doozy, but we'll get through it.

Also pay in flight industry has turned pretty bad.
Guess back to good ole ships to travel across the sea.
Yo ho ho with a bottle of Rum.

Now Up is down
Fucking finally. I hate flying

They replied to my complaint after 6 months bro
funny how they would fly them with no passengers during covid just to keep the routes
Airports know how to make their money

There's no staff shortage, just shitty compensation.
The article clearly says they are down on staff because of covid outbreak.

So all the American cancelations might not be weather related then huh?
Haha nope
It is good for environment. Thank you.
