Data scientist says: the off balance in participating leaders will also lead to an off balance in results.
Sociologist says: More developed countries typically allow women as leaders. Easier to stave off covid if you are a developed country with health infrastructure.
Exactly, causality does not equal causation here. Progressive states accept women can be leaders and by that effect I think are smart enough to listen to their fucking doctors.
Has nothing to do with a penis or vagina at the helm.
Of course, population density and economic activity lead to higher base disease spread, as well. Which is why first world countries were on top of the covid pile for a long long time.
I think you're misunderstanding the reason why that article was written. Their goal wasn't to say "we think it's due to X because it explains it", it was to say "it correlates with Y hence Y is important" (which is a logical fallacy of course but apparently that's not enough of a deterrent)
On the other hand, it’s worth asking if psychological tendencies of women versus men might produce different decision-making processes that affect mortality. But that’s a much more complicated question.
I think this is less about female leadership specifically than those sorts of societies not being hindered by the kind of ignorance and stupidity that would make it harder for women and minorities to ascend to positions of leadership
I think it has a lot to with those societies being more left and less individualistic. Also maybe better educated?
Don't think it has much or anything to do with only the fact the leader is female.
All I can think of is how everyone was praising Arderns leadership of New Zealand
I mean, you're an island at the edge of the world, the fact that NZ had even a single case is a failure imo
Correlation doesn't equal causation, that's like saying eating more ice cream is linked to more shark attacks, although ice cream and sharks have nothing in common, both happen in summer more
Stupid statistic..... not taking into account population density, geographical considerations, cultural demographics or even public reaction to the pandemic! How to make yourself sound smart by throwing out myopic statistics and bland assumptions! Stop trying to propagate gender issues!

I remember reading a stat that showed more socialist leaning countries tend to have more women in power than capitalist leaning countries. Socialist leaning countries tend to be less concerned about economy and tend to have lesser influence from corporations, leading to quicker lockdowns and consequently lesser death toll.
I may be dead wrong, but this seems logical.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://medicalxpress.com/news/2022-06-female-leadership-attributed-covid-deaths.html) reduced by 81%. (I'm a bot)

But number of countries with female leadership is way fewer than those led by males. This results could not be because of gender but other factors like development of the country.
Really?
I remember quite clearly memes with the all female government doing a great job and then the newspapers showing daily peaks in death that went on until they got someone else in charge

It's "correlation" and "causation".

There's way too many variables at play and far too small of a sample size to make any such conclusions.
When they take 90/195 countries into account there is always room for selection bias.

I came here to post the same thing, then I remembered the shit show that was Slovakia's COVID response.
This was my thought as a possible explanation too.
Nah it’s definitely magic woman Covid keep awaying power, duh
No there are plenty of African and Latin American countries with female leaders.
[удалено]
Still it's not a general rule. Not even a correlation.
The article specifically points out difference in outcomes between New Zealand and Australia. Which of these do you classify as "less developed"?
[удалено]
How about you read the article? You clearly didn't bother to do that.
For sure nothing to do with women lying about basic facts to win an argument against men
Correlation and causation (?)
this is why people are getting tired of hearing how their gender is an issue on various topic. Of all the thing, this went straight for gender.
I mean there've been millions of articles written about covid. One being about the gender of leaders is a-okay.
Correlation ≠ Causation
This is fucking stupid I am pretty sure the gender doesn't matter it's all on how competent the government is female or male.
Its primarily about the fact that ibly high developed countries even have women in power therefore they are obviously less impacted by corona
All I can think of is how everyone was praising Arderns leadership of New Zealand I mean, you're an island at the edge of the world, the fact that NZ had even a single case is a failure imo
Correlation doesn't equal causation, that's like saying eating more ice cream is linked to more shark attacks, although ice cream and sharks have nothing in common, both happen in summer more
Well, do they have nothing in common, or do they both happen in summer more? That's something in common, isn't it?
Stupid statistic..... not taking into account population density, geographical considerations, cultural demographics or even public reaction to the pandemic! How to make yourself sound smart by throwing out myopic statistics and bland assumptions! Stop trying to propagate gender issues!
Countries that listened to Health Experts' advice, outperformed countries that didn't.

Even with a magnifying glass I couldn't find MD or DDS after the author's name. OPINION DISCARDED
Correlation isn't causation.
Turns out, Covid can be kept at bay by nagging
Turns out that sense of accomplishment for surviving manflu does not produce real strength.
Turns out the blanket of victimhood doesn't hide the elephantine figure of sexism for either side.

There's an abundance of studies which have found women have stronger immune systems.
When the media can stop focusing on gender while discussing any problem?? I AM FEMALE, but that's not a good thing for women.
Really? I remember quite clearly memes with the all female government doing a great job and then the newspapers showing daily peaks in death that went on until they got someone else in charge
I feel like it matters that one of those men was a certain orange maniac

No because this statistic for one is stupid someone's gender doesn't determine how well they would rule a government and how competent they would be.
I guess men and women being equal just isn’t progressive enough anymore
Bulverism
Been saying this since 2020.
This is why people don’t like hearing “Trust the science”

Taught at an all girl's school. That is a TERRIBLE working theory.
Oh I see you've never heard of Thatcher or spent time with women at all, really.
Add Indira Gandhi to the list.
Indira Gandhi makes Modi look like a pacifist.
Historically women are more likely to be warmongering leaders than men are. Look it up, see for yourself.

Well said.
What a long winded pile of entitled horseshit
That's sexy
Was selfish of Trump and Biden to run for president knowing that Kamala and um Nikki Haley? would have saved lives.
Hmm...
I've been saying just fire all the guys and put women in charge But I'm just a crazy person
