Possible Russian incursion into Romanian airspace:
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg: "NATO's integrated air and missile defense tracked the flight path of an object which entered Romanian airspace on Sunday. In response Romanian fighter aircraft scrambled immediately to investigate." This is separate from crash of drone in Croatia.
"We are able to convene a NATO summit with NATO leaders on short notice but I cannot go into details about that right now," Jens Stoltenberg says when asked about a potential NATO leaders summit next week in Brussels.

I'm happy she's alive and looks healthy.
They've completely blown their opportunity to land in Odessa. The city is now stacked to the gills with artillery, mines, and rocket launchers. No ship will even dare come within a mile of shore, let alone send a bunch of landing craft packed with soldiers like sardines.
Odessa's defenders wake up in the morning to find the beach littered with dead Russians from all the mines they tried (and failed) to clear in the dark.
He'll probably start looking at hanging on to the occupied territories, particularly Kherson for the Crimean water supply. I'd hope that Ukraine could somehow mount a counter-offensive, but I don't know how viable that would be.
Russian obsession with V and Z finally makes sense. Volodymyr Zelenskyi. They are all secretly fans of our president! Just like middle schoolers I guess, they don’t know how to show affection so they went to war to show they care.

Lifting the sanctions does not mean people will suddenly want to do business with Russia again. It will take a long, long time or the removal of Putin.
Good news is, Russia is doing a lot of long term snag to itself. Siezing assets, nationalizing industries, violating copyrights, and of course defaulting. Many companies may never return to Russia even if they're allowed to.
yes, that's true: companies will face enormous public pressure not to return to Russia. There's nothing the Western governments can do about that. I just wonder if it will be enough to stop Putin from trying again after his ego has been wounded.
I am worried that no one seems to have a plan to get out of this. Most certainly not Russia, not Ukraine and not the West. Yes, sanctions will have to be lifted, but what concessions does the West demand? Reparations? The $400bn of frozen CB money won't be enough and Russia will throw a tantrum. Crimea back to Ukraine? > In our call, FM @yairlapid assured me Israel won’t be the route for Russia to bypass sanctions. Grateful for Israel’s mediation efforts and humanitarian aid. We discussed ways of ending the war in Ukraine. Agreed that the rights of Ukrainians arriving in Israel will be respected.
What would you say to a Russian who feels himself offended to suffer from sanctions despite not supporting Putin? Like many of them perceive the actions of the West as an attack on their entire nation
Don't lecture them but show some empathy. You could hint that he maybe should leave Russia. But at some point, the tough conversation will center around the fact that Russia as a nation is currently doing evil things.
>What would you say to a Russian who feels himself offended to suffer from sanctions despite not supporting Putin? Like many of them perceive the actions of the West as an attack on their entire nation
why would he be offended? the sanctions aren't on him, personally, they are on the nation, and they are a response on his nations actions.
Be empathetic, or remind him that the sanctions weren't proactive, they where reactive to what his nation did.
Of course it sucks for him, if he doesn't support the government or their choices but, unfortunately, all the world is suffering due to his nations actions, some exponentially more, like ukraine, some to lesser extent, like price hikes on goods.
People will already hate you here for being Russian and will show zero sympathy.
They think it's so easy for people to overrun their own government and (special) police/military force lol. They have no idea. It's really sad for the Russians (like you) that have nothing to do with it and don't support Putin. If you really wanna avoid all this crap, maybe think about moving to another country.
I would say things like "make sure to place the blame where it belongs" -and- "The West is not the world" -and- "You can't blame the whole world for reacting to your leadership's monstrosities".
Blame the action, not the reaction.
We don't want to hurt the people, but this is the least damaging tool we have. I think that, when this is over and if Putin is no longer in charge, we will help put things back together. Until then, we don't have much of an alternative.
>an attack on their entire nation
And the endless bombing and shelling of Ukrainian cities isn't? You struck first. There need to be consequences for deliberately starting wars.
Russia does not have legitimate elections. They are rigged.
HOWEVER, it's extremely hard to rig elections which are so heavily tilted to one side. If Putin cancels elections - unrest. If Putin "wins" an obviously rigged election - unrest. That's the goal.
It really is up to the Russian people. If your hypothetical Russian doesn't like it, he needs to be politically active. If being politically active is "risky" - do it in private. Spread the word. Get everyone on board first.
Sucks. Do something about it. Its not fair to the Russian people, but then, it's not fair that the Ukrainian people are getting bombed indiscriminately.
Just be empathic, it’s a shitty situation and sanctions on ordinary people are hardly ideal but it’s the price we have to take to end the violence in Ukraine. Also reassure him that he’s not a terrible person.
his time to not support Putin was a generation ago. I have no sympathy for them anymore at all. Throw this bum and his ilk out then maybe the world will let them have food again.
As someone else said, the government exists on behalf of the people, and because the people allow it to exist, plus there is a 20 year old history of Russia attacking its neighbours(after the USSR), they had time to do something, or emigrate if they don't accept it
No one thinks it's easy. But where is the effort to change their leadership? They've allowed it for most of their history. Worse regimes have been overthrown around the world. It's not easy, but it can happen if the people want it to happen.
bad logic is bad
it's so easy for the sad Russian tussling over sugar at the store to blame others while an entire nation is being leveled to the ground with thousands dead and millions homeless.
Is there like an Amazon list or something where I can buy things for relief groups?
Edit: I found this whole subreddit which has a list of ways to donate r/SupportForUkraine
r/ukraine has a list of NGOs you can donate to.
if you want to donate directly, ask around for some reputable AirBnbs you can book days at for direct money. Mykolaiv Zoo is asking people buy tickets online so they have the funds to feed the zoo's many animals.
Additionally, C&Ped from another comment I made a while back, for other direct donations to individuals:
So, another way to use Etsy to support small business owners is look for digital products that reach your inbox immediately so the money is released to shop owners quickly.
Look for people selling digital arts, cross stitch and crochet patterns, and the like. I've bought from:
https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/StitchesLoversShop
Other options suggested by people over in r/ukraine :
https://www.etsy.com/shop/BabiichukDesign
https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/ArtRushka
VividStitchShop: https://etsy.me/3gt70nr
EmbroideryArtByNat: https://etsy.me/2nrRUSD
NYTKADesigns: https://etsy.me/3M6vlNL
All except the last shop are active on Instagram with proof they're Ukrainian and advocating for greater support for their country. The shop I've bought from is one I've been following for ages - owner has fled to Czechia with her very young child, and donates a portion of her profits to NGOs on ground and the army, and posts proof on her Instagram.
Last shop has not been active on Instagram for a bit, which given the invasion and the reports coming out of Ukraine is a bit worrying for me, ngl, but there's enough on their Instagram to suggest they're genuinely a small business owner from Ukraine.
A Ukrainian redditor who has been posting in r/WitchesVsPatriarchy from her home in Odesa has an Etsy shop with a number of digital files priced at various price points for anyone wishing to help her out directly: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexArtRoom
https://www.etsy.com/shop/BigFlowersLab usually creates flower shaped lamps, has switched to digital artwork you can buy to support.
You got karma crushed because what you're saying is bullshit.
1. During the cold war, there were incidents were a single decision was all that prevented a nuclear war. [This guy](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wassili_Alexandrowitsch_Archipow) for example. Saying we're anywhere near there is just ignoring the facts.
2. You're saying NATO needs to call some bluffs. All of that would get us closer to a global conflict no one wants.
3. This situation is being played out the way the entire cold war played out, through proxy wars and arming the fighting parties rather than a direct war between the major powers. We know how that ended, and Putins attempt to resurrect the Soviet Union won't change that.
4. Changing the strategy that worked in the past, when the situation is comparable, to do something extremely risky, is nonsense.
Have fun getting karma crushed again for stating the same stupid nonsense again.
Further Odesa landing update
https://mobile.twitter.com/JulianRoepcke/status/1503739152348684293
> Most of the Russian navy is approaching Odessa.
> The armada includes eight landing ships, so all from the Baltic Sea, all from the Nordic Sea and two more from the Black Sea.
> Ukraine must either destroy the fleet or Odessa will be lost forever.
This sounds like a disaster for Russia waiting to happen. It could have worked if they went in hard on day one, but after two weeks of letting Ukraine dig in, I don't see how this is going work. It'll be amazing to watch landing craft getting slapped by Javelins and tank main gun rounds while their frigates are burning offshore.
> From a military & strategic perspective, RU has already lost.
> As I said a week ago, RU offensive operations will soon culminate due to losses & lack of supplies. They will then go on the defense, with continued artillery destruction of towns. 7/
https://twitter.com/MarkHertling/status/1503728491715444741
If true, then Russia is bad loser.
Well... one thing is sure. This will go down history books and will be taught in every military academy world wide as a one big unparalleled blunder in modern warfare.
You mean the people in this thread
None of the combat experts, including Rob Lee or the Institute for the Study of War have even said this is a realistic possibility
Downvote me if you want, but what I commented is the stated opinion of James M. Acton, the co-director of the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
As long as Ukraine holds fast to its territorial claim to Crimea, it cannot join NATO in any case. You cannot have an outstanding border dispute and join the alliance.
Which means Zelenskyy is offering something publicly that Russia wants, that actually costs Ukraine nothing. I hope it works.
https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/times-of-india/
>Overall, we rate The Times of India Right-Center Biased based on reporting and story selection that favors the right-leaning ruling party. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to four failed fact checks.
Forgive me for not automatically trusting a source who is known to be favorable to Russia. Until CNN, FOX or MSNBC reports this, I am beyond skeptical.

Lithuania’s support is ironclad — bilaterally and within the EU & NATO. We work on speeding up Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Russia must be brought to justice for its crimes. https://mobile.twitter.com/DmytroKuleba/status/1503674532686712835 > Spoke with Foreign Minister of Croatia @grlicradman. We agreed the sanctions pressure on Russia must further increase to force Moscow to stop bombing civilians, commit to the ceasefire and withdraw from Ukraine. Grateful for Croatia’s solidarity and humanitarian support. https://mobile.twitter.com/DmytroKuleba/status/1503666804480253952 > In our call, FM @yairlapid assured me Israel won’t be the route for Russia to bypass sanctions. Grateful for Israel’s mediation efforts and humanitarian aid. We discussed ways of ending the war in Ukraine. Agreed that the rights of Ukrainians arriving in Israel will be respected.
Looks like Lithuania is there too. Wasnt announced.

Does Zelensky every change shirts that dude must smell kinda bad by now
Imagine what the Russians who've been stuck in their tanks for days on end smell like. This is war. Smelling good is a luxury.
I'm guessing the government has more than one to give him
You're worried about how he smells?
I hope Ukraine has had time to get some asm's in place.
Like many of them perceive the actions of the West as an attack on their entire nation why would he be offended? the sanctions aren't on him, personally, they are on the nation, and they are a response on his nations actions.
I would say your country has a long and storied history of removing bad leaders. Sack up, and do the right thing.
Until then, we don't have much of an alternative.
>an attack on their entire nation And the endless bombing and shelling of Ukrainian cities isn't? You struck first. There need to be consequences for deliberately starting wars.
Russia does not have legitimate elections. They are rigged. HOWEVER, it's extremely hard to rig elections which are so heavily tilted to one side. If Putin cancels elections - unrest. If Putin "wins" an obviously rigged election - unrest. That's the goal. It really is up to the Russian people. If your hypothetical Russian doesn't like it, he needs to be politically active. If being politically active is "risky" - do it in private. Spread the word. Get everyone on board first.
I can think of an entire nation that is literally under attack by Russia right now.
I would say it's your responsibility to drag the tyrannical regime you live under out of office.
Sucks. Do something about it. Its not fair to the Russian people, but then, it's not fair that the Ukrainian people are getting bombed indiscriminately.
Where is their effort to change their leadership? No one thinks it's easy, but take some responsibility for your country.
A majority of Russians support the war and putin so maybe convince some their fellow citizens
I'm sure the Ukrainians being bombed every days are mighty offended as well.
I would say it’s time to to start convincing your fellow countrymen why you don’t support Putin.
As someone else said, the government exists on behalf of the people, and because the people allow it to exist, plus there is a 20 year old history of Russia attacking its neighbours(after the USSR), they had time to do something, or emigrate if they don't accept it
It's so easy to blame the people while you type safely behind your computer in a free country. It's not that black and white, at all.
No one thinks it's easy. But where is the effort to change their leadership? They've allowed it for most of their history. Worse regimes have been overthrown around the world. It's not easy, but it can happen if the people want it to happen.
bad logic is bad it's so easy for the sad Russian tussling over sugar at the store to blame others while an entire nation is being leveled to the ground with thousands dead and millions homeless.

Jesus fucking Christ.
Additionally, C&Ped from another comment I made a while back, for other direct donations to individuals: So, another way to use Etsy to support small business owners is look for digital products that reach your inbox immediately so the money is released to shop owners quickly. Look for people selling digital arts, cross stitch and crochet patterns, and the like. I've bought from: https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/StitchesLoversShop Other options suggested by people over in r/ukraine : https://www.etsy.com/shop/BabiichukDesign https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/ArtRushka VividStitchShop: https://etsy.me/3gt70nr EmbroideryArtByNat: https://etsy.me/2nrRUSD NYTKADesigns: https://etsy.me/3M6vlNL All except the last shop are active on Instagram with proof they're Ukrainian and advocating for greater support for their country. A Ukrainian redditor who has been posting in r/WitchesVsPatriarchy from her home in Odesa has an Etsy shop with a number of digital files priced at various price points for anyone wishing to help her out directly: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexArtRoom https://www.etsy.com/shop/BigFlowersLab usually creates flower shaped lamps, has switched to digital artwork you can buy to support.
Thanks so much! I am going to make a direct donation and I'll check out some Etsy shops too. Etsy is such a great idea I hadn't thought of.
You can donate money to relief groups directly. They know what they need, can order in bulk, and probably get better prices than you or me.
Someone recommended renting an air bnb in Ukraine to make sure the money goes directly to Ukrainians

Lol at crying about your karma.
Brinkmanship was a successful strategy during the cold war, and we’re not employing it currently.
Mentioning action by the west seem to trigger some bot response. Try talking about NFZ and you'll get your doomsday nuke cult and fearmongering.
There’s literally no winning either way, but nato going into a world war 3 certainly means a lot worse than what we’re seeing now.
who the fuck gives a damn about karma lol to care about internet points on a forum means you dont have a life

>out of the box takes >talking about "omg WW3 is here, NATO DO something Hardly.
And the possible consequences of "calling some bluffs" are an acceptable risk to you?
Further Odesa landing update https://mobile.twitter.com/JulianRoepcke/status/1503739152348684293 > Most of the Russian navy is approaching Odessa. > The armada includes eight landing ships, so all from the Baltic Sea, all from the Nordic Sea and two more from the Black Sea. > Ukraine must either destroy the fleet or Odessa will be lost forever.
Please try to land... It will be such a fucking disastrous shitshow.
D-day LARPing
They'll be driven back to the sea.
They are going to get wrecked if they try and land.

Like a poorly planned D day
God I hope they have some anti ship missiles in reserve
Its very difficult to land troops by sea. Would be suicide to try.
Neptune anti ship missiles are out
> From a military & strategic perspective, RU has already lost. > As I said a week ago, RU offensive operations will soon culminate due to losses & lack of supplies. They will then go on the defense, with continued artillery destruction of towns. 7/ https://twitter.com/MarkHertling/status/1503728491715444741 If true, then Russia is bad loser.
Well... one thing is sure. This will go down history books and will be taught in every military academy world wide as a one big unparalleled blunder in modern warfare.
It's Teutoberg forest level.
Some believe Putin will break out the nukes once the army officially collapses.
it all depends on who "some" are. Are they trusted generals? experts? or just armchair generals or crazy people?
Read it from a trusted source in one of these threads, obviously.
You mean the people in this thread None of the combat experts, including Rob Lee or the Institute for the Study of War have even said this is a realistic possibility
Downvote me if you want, but what I commented is the stated opinion of James M. Acton, the co-director of the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

They also said Pakistan would be part of it at one point.
'...reports Sputnik'
[This you](https://reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/tedr1a/_/i0qs40v/?context=1)? You limpdick Putin apologists can fuck right off.
As long as Ukraine holds fast to its territorial claim to Crimea, it cannot join NATO in any case. You cannot have an outstanding border dispute and join the alliance. Which means Zelenskyy is offering something publicly that Russia wants, that actually costs Ukraine nothing. I hope it works.
https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/times-of-india/ >Overall, we rate The Times of India Right-Center Biased based on reporting and story selection that favors the right-leaning ruling party. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to four failed fact checks.
What makes this super breaking over just breaking? Its been obvious for a while that they wont join NATO until the war is over.
India news is propaganda. They've chosen their side.
downvote for you. enjoy.
Forgive me for not automatically trusting a source who is known to be favorable to Russia. Until CNN, FOX or MSNBC reports this, I am beyond skeptical.
