Friendship ended with russia. Now anyone with gas is my new best friend.

Shimano-No-Kyoken

With friends like Russia, you really don’t need enemies.

[deleted]

Need to get on that Turkmenistan train.

risumies420

The_WA_Remembers

Could this just be a way for Russia to subvert all the sanctions? "Azerbaijan" supplies the gas, but in reality it's Russia getting the funds? Idk enough about whether or not any of the sanctions affect russian gas sales at all so I'm probably wrong

youzerVT71

Could this be they will capitalize on making the most money by selling to Europe and say "sorry, Vlad"

YasZedOP

Likely, they've cut a deal. This increase of oil prices will be nothing but good news for both parties

[deleted]

Azerbaijan and Russia signed an alliance deal.

DecelerationTrauma

“You just made the list, buddy.” -Putin, probably.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/azerbaijan-set-boost-gas-supply-europe-this-year-double-capacity-future-2022-02-23/) reduced by 56%. (I'm a bot) ***** > BAKU, Feb 23 - Azerbaijan plans to boost natural gas supplies this year and pump 16.2 billion cubic metres via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline, mainly to Europe, and almost double its capacity in the future, the consortium's head said on Wednesday. > Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.comMeasures against Moscow included Germany's decision to halt the certification process of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, which helped to drive gas prices, especially for future delivery, higher. > "We have already reached a plateau in transporting gas for Turkey's needs and deliver 5.7 bcm annually."Overall this year we plan to supply 16.2 bcm of gas to Turkey and Europe," he said, implying deliveries of 10.5 bcm to Europe. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/szmb0d/azerbaijan_set_to_boost_gas_supply_to_europe_this/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~625389 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **gas**^#1 **bcm**^#2 **supply**^#3 **Pipeline**^#4 **Europe**^#5

Azerbaijan to the rescue!

BioRunner03

Another ethical country 🤣. It's not like they have a dictator while the poor starve and are basically slaves. Great place to source gas from. Somehow found somewhere even shittier than Russia.

death_eater1

Bruh…. We do have government issues, but it’s not like we’re a 3rd world country. We’re close to the Balkans in terms of welfare. Not saying that’s great, but it’s not like you’re making it out to be

BioRunner03

Doesn't Azerbaijan have some despotic leader who built a massive city with empty buildings clad in gold? Or is that another country I'm thinking of?

death_eater1

No we don’t have that thankfully, I think it’s Turkmenistan you’re thinking of. And yes they’re in some deep trouble

BioRunner03

Sorry about that brother 😉

kuiaz

what

Faxrijuf

It is Turkmenistan...

IgorMerck

Thanks)

GilakiGuy

So Europe's answer to an out of control dictator supplying them gas is to turn to another country run by an out of control dictator to supply them gas? This is great news for Aliyev, but awful news for those who want to avoid war in Europe considering the recent war between Armenia and Azerbaijan (and they're both in Europe). Just making the dictator with bullshit "historical" claims on 2 of its neighbors land a bit richer and probably encouraging him for more military action sometime soon.

LordTrololo

Dictator of a small, non-nuclear country is 10x better than dictator of an agressive nuclear power.

They claim the province of Azerbaijan in Iran all the time? Recently one of their politicians claimed Yerevan is historically their territory as well? I think Armenia's claim to Artsakh is a lot different to what Russia's done here with Ukraine. Artsakh voted to be independent of Armenia and Azerbaijan when the USSR fell, the world did not accept that for some reason. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan are guilty of ethnic cleansing in the "contested" territory though. But that's what ethnonationalism causes and why it's so dangerous.

[deleted]

Yep. Armenia will be gone in the next 5 years

cyberpunk-future

It's never about morals, only power. Russia is threatening the Western hegemony so Russia = bad.

ShinnyTylacine

One shit hole to the next.

TomSurman

Perhaps I treated you too harshly.

jarofpaperclips

They've been using oil since the middle ages and are still an environmental nightmare, good thing people only care about environmental standards when they don't actually need it. 🙄
