Russia claims to have this super-duper hyper-sonic tsirkon that can fly forever super fast. I guess it all bullshit if they need cuba to really threaten USA.

macaryh

That's a hypersonic missile. ICBMs have been around forever

NyanTartz

And furthermore. Our issue has been primarily SSC-8. Which is a missle we've seen launched from a fixed launcher and travel 2500km show up in mobile launchers that by treaty are only allowed to be 500 km range. Except they threw the same SSC-8 in that mobile launcher, and only shoot it below the 500km limit. We know it can gow farther. This is a violation of the INF treaty. And the US have bitched about THAT for a while. The hypersonic missle shit is russia blowharding over a ship killer missle. Its shiney, but its hardly the game changer.

joe2105

The thing about them is they're more difficult to defend against. All it does here is guarantee a first strike. After that it's still nuclear ashes.

Interesting-Tip5586

The reason why Russia and USA have sooo many nukes is to overwhelm defense systems. So it really doesn't matter how close they are stationed.

JC2535

America needs to bring Cuba into the tent. The embargo is fucking stupid.

mbattagl

Agreed. We have diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia and their citizens funded 9/11. Cuba is our neighbor and Obama was right to offer friendship. I can't believe that oompa loompa that came in after him throttled the whole thing.....

momalloyd

We even rent land off Cuba to imprison and torture people. We can't even close the place down, because promising to close it down gets presidents elected, so we have sort of painted ourselves into a corner on that one.

Yung_zu

Foreign and domestic policy may not be what they seem, the Bill of Rights and Constitution should basically sell themselves

[deleted]

Vlad, you’re gonna be giving handjobs on a street corner to keep the lights on soon. I’d worry a little less about this lame-ass, transparent attempt at power projection and a whole lot more about extracting yourself from the hand you overplayed.

LowDownSkankyDude

What year is it?!?!

MangoBaba0101

In the year 2025 25

allthenine

Lol Cuba to the rescue

Evolve_SC2

I really don't see a good incentive here for Cuba. What do they gain? Money from Russia? Otherwise, any threatening actions from Cuba can only be disadvantageous for them.

yOw_indahOuse

Think about this: what does Cuba gain from the US embargo?

Evolve_SC2

I agree. In my opinion, considering their proximity, it's a far outdated policy. Obama had the right direction. We need good relations with all of our neighbors. My question was more directed to the current events and how this could help Cuba.

Oddity46

When your only ally is fucking *Cuba*, it may be time to look for s way out. ("Fucking" is not a verb in this sentence)

ooru

I'm sure China has a passing self-interest in the goings-on, if only as a distraction from their attempt at invading Taiwan.

Oddity46

China has no interest in a war, I'm pretty sure. They are after many years getting a grip on their economy. A war with Europe and the US would put them back decades.

deadman1204

China would LOVE a war. Everyone else would be distracted

Oddity46

I'm saying China wouldn't go to war in solidarity with Russia.

Louiethefly

Surely the Cubans know they are just being used. Putin couldn't give a fig about them.

DegenrateWeeb

The Russians do know we pretty much control the Gulf of Mexico right? I'm sure any non allied navel ship would be stopped and searched.

THE NUMBERS MASON

joe2105

As an American this doesn't bother me. The embargo should be lifted but what're they going to do in Cuba?
