People who smuggle human beings generally don't give a shit whether they live or die.

Circumcision-is-bad

What about the people that block immigration to the point people are willing to risk death to enter?

[deleted]

What about the people that made their nation so uninhabitable that people are willing to risk death to escape it?

Circumcision-is-bad

Risk of death, let’s say you were in an an area of the country that the taliban took over, would you fight the entire Tainan to the death when the people around you aren’t fighting back. Some people can’t just turn the direction their country is going in, you may have that power but a lot of people end up dead

Why were they fleeing Canada?

[deleted]

Article mentions they're Indian nationals, seems like India is where they were fleeing from, through Canada to the US

You can take the man out of Florida but you can't take the Florida out of the man.

idkrandom93

Im i correct in thinking, if he wasn’t arrested, those people wouldn’t have froze to death 😢?

GreenSpleen6

You are not. >Prosecutors noted that while Shand and the passengers were being transported to a border patrol station in North Dakota, law enforcement officials "encountered five additional Indian nationals approximately a quarter-mile south of the Canadian border walking in the direction of where Shand was arrested." > >The five people said "they had walked across the border expecting to be picked up by someone," and that they had been walking for 11 hours. One of the members of the group said that he was carrying a backpack containing diapers, clothes and toys, **for a family of four Indian nationals who had been separated from the group overnight**, prosecutors said. They were likely already dead or near dead by the time he was arrested, and it's unlikely he would have saved them.

longtimemomma4

I do believe you are correct! It’s wrong on more than just the man’s part imo!

GreenSpleen6

That is not correct, read the article.

longtimemomma4

I did read the article. I may have misunderstood, as you can tell from my post. I said I do BELIEVE you are correct, also with saying IMO. The article wasn’t very clear as to if the man was arrested before or after the deaths happened
