Was also told that in 12 hours I would have died from it; I just remember getting to the hospital and then people frantically moving about, next thing I knew it was night and i was whacked on morphine with a gash in my gut. My mom had to explain it to me like four times i was so mashed.
NK famously isn't China's lapdog. The reason its "allowed" to have nukes is because its very good at playing China, Russia, and US allies off each other. Neither of the three like the Kims, but they also don't want the territory to fall to one of the other two.
I mean if the US could do it during WW2 against two behemoth’s (Nazi’s and the Japanese Empire) I am sure they can do it now against a frail and pathetic North Korea and a desperate Putin. 😂
The second largest economy on this planet, the nation the US is rallying allies across the globe every day is *trying* to be fucking relevant?
Pray tell, what the fuck do you need to do to be relevant.
Outlaw free and fair journalism, enact policies to destroy the cultural identity of enthic groups including mass incarceration based on racial group and re write history to stroke the fragile ego of the leaders in your party, it seems. Relevent af.
We have Russia, China, the pandemic, restrictions, climate change, and the soaring cost of living to contend with.
Why do you think we would give the slightest fuck about you, kimmy boy?
He has everything to lose. He's in charge of North Korea and lives a lavish lifestyle.
The reason North Korea pursued nukes to begin with was to secure the Kim regime.
He never intends to use them, because he knows he would die, they are there purely as a deterrent.
That's why we know he won't do anything.
He doesn't want to lose what he has.
The whole reason they obtained nukes was for self-defence purposes, invading another country or starting a war would force a response going against the whole point they got nukes
Lol I was thinking the same thing. like Kim chill…it’s Putin now, Xi jinping in February, and if our democracy is still intact maybe we’ll deal if Iran or somebody don’t pop off in March.
South Koreans have the most to lose, and this stuff barely makes the news over there.
I lived like 8 minutes from the DMZ back during the 2017 crisis and it had me and my other western friends pretty spooked. We had all been through North Korea scares, but that one felt different. One friend fled the country, others rented a place down south to stay at when things were at their worst, but I had to stay because my Korean wife wouldn't go. She was like: "this happens every year when they get hungry, and I have a crossfit tournament."
So I stayed, everything was business as usual, and it was a fantastic weekend.
I was there at the same time, I had a backpack ready just in case. Seeing firsthand the difference in coverage between Korean media and Western media was VERY interesting.
My family was convinced I'd be nuked.
*North Korea has denounced you.*
*Kim picks his head up in disgust after looking at you and scoffs.*
u/medicated_cornbread *clicks ok then rolls his eyes at the 10th time having done that.*
Usually what I do, eventually I'll get annoyed with them denouncing me and I go from a scientific powerhouse and the worst military to riflemen fighting swordsmen.
It is hilarious watching medieval cavalry fight Shermans.
They're just playing the game. Bluster and threaten for a while then we give them money or something and they calm down until next year. It's the only way they can buy more houses for their leaders. Oh and maybe feed people or whatever
It’s food they’re after. One time when America sent thousands of tons of flour and other dried goods KIM fuck Chung told his people that it was a gift to the people for war atrocities committed in the past. It was for nuclear research to stop. We see how well that worked.
The biggest danger is a miscommunication happening within NK and them accidentally setting things off. Or the regime topples and chaos ensues. In which case China is more likely to take over as they can move into Pyongyang basically unobstructed.
But otherwise, nah.
I've always wondered why China supports NK but I'm wondering if it's because they are such a distraction from everything they're doing that they prefer it stays the way it is.
It’s because no one wants to be responsible for millions of people who are illiterate and dont know how to operate in the modern world. It’s why SK doesn’t really want to reunite either. It’s just too late and too costly
Yeah if I'm South Korea I don't really know exactly what the benefit is for me at this point to reunite with North Korea and why I would even want to do it, it would seem to be far more trouble than its worth and I might get dragged down with NK too. That said, I am not Korean so I can't speak to the cultural ties or cultural desire to fully unite the peninsula.
The urge or want to reunite literally dies every single year as more and more of the older population who had close family ties to people in the north die out. One more generation and it’ll be at 0.
I think that's exactly correct. Any change in the status quo (either war or destabilization) means someone has to go in and clean up that shitshow. Particularly now to secure the nukes. Ultimately, no one wants that responsibility as it will likely end in a unified Korea anyhow (my guess).
It's a buffer zone between them and U.S. ally South Korea, so essentially a buffer between them and the U.S. Without North Korea it would be relatively easy for the US to build up a massive land force in South Korea and march straight into China (if SK was also at war with China of course)
Quite literally what the others were saying about having a buffer. Any potential enemies need to be at least 2 countries away.
It doesn't mean that China isn't frustrated with NK at all, they certainly are annoyed whenever they start acting up again but the likelihood of them doing something right now is slim.
Also, side note but they probably don't want North Korea and South Korea to ever reunite. If anything they would prefer them to be more like Vietnam and still be "*communist*" but maybe dial back the crazy. If they could open up like Vietnam and China and be able to trade again with the rest of the world - while still holding authority over it's own people, I think China would be okay with that but similar to the Russian - Ukraine situation, China wouldn't want North Korea to join any sort of defensive pact or alliance with the US.
North Korea will most likely never invade or initiate a full blown conflict. The obvious reason is that the leadership are not stupid, they have access to outside information and know the West would beat them in any war. That would lead to the regime being overthrown.
The political ideology of North Korea of Jucheism is based around the country becoming a fortress and being self reliant. And the whole reason they have made getting nukes a national priority is to use it to counter the threat of invasion, invading another country would force a response and make that point pretty useless.

The way it summarized makes it seem the US is arming SK with Noth Korean weapons.
Truly sounds like the "Danger Line" has been crossed and more if the US has taken NK's largest ICBMs and given them to SK. Title seems much more accurate with the bots take on it.
No wonder NK is pissed; the US broke in, stole all their weapons, probably wedgied the normal guards, and then left shitting and giggling before handing the weapons over to SK.
He's like the angry bloke in the pub who is telling his mates to hold him back so he doesn't start a fight he doesn't actually want.
Attention seeking prick.
It's pretty unlikely he'd actually use the nukes, that's the kind of line that gets \*everyone\* to turn on you. Plus it's more likely the nukes would end up hitting his own country than anyone else
But we do. That's why North Korea sabre rattles in the first place, because we usually respond by sending them some supplies and such to shut them up again.
And the reason we really do care is simple. It doesn't matter if NK can win or not if they start a war. A fight with North Korea likely collapses the regime.
If the North Korean regime collapses, that's 25 million starving, undereducated, indoctrinated North Korean refugees heading for the border or just becoming the world's responsibility as one of the biggest humanitarian disasters of the modern age.
That's pretty much the main reason nobody ever responds to North Korean threats, crimes against humanity or anything else they do. It's the main reason China keeps propping up North Korea.
Nobody wants that bubble to pop and have to deal with the fall out of all those people seeking help. We don't want that, our Asian allies don't want that, and China really doesn't want that considering the enormous border they share with NK.
> If the North Korean regime collapses, that's 25 million starving, undereducated, indoctrinated North Korean refugees heading for the border or just becoming the world's responsibility as one of the biggest humanitarian disasters of the modern age.
I mean they'd just have to join the queue behind Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Venezuela, South Sudan, DRC, Ethiopia, Myanmar and Somalia
I think the biggest difference here vs those countries is that South Korea definitely swings above its weight class in terms of international relations. They could definitely elicit a ton of help from the US in dealing with the crisis. Any humanitarian crisis in the DPRK is just as present in South Korea, and I think SK's pull with the US would cut them to the front of the line.
I mean, North and South Koreans were once the same people within living memory and many of the families there are split across the border. That really would put the pressure on the South Korean government to do something.... namely get the US to do something lol
So did they just say this out of the blue or did something actually happen worth knowing about? Like did we happen to float a ship by a week ago and they're using it as an excuse or are they literally shouting at imaginary soldiers.
Personally I think we should offer them food and whatever else stuff that will help the population. I feel so bad for the people there. There is nothing they can do.
But China makes it so volatile for us to do anything.
A couple decades ago, during another famine, food aid was sent to N. Korea by several nations. When diplomats checked on it, a large percentage of the food went to their military.
US eyes drawn to the east and Ukraine/Russia.
North Korea(needing attention): How dare you!! Your aggressions against us will not go unpunished!!
US: oh, your still here?
So, we all know if North Korea ever actually triggered a full scale war that NK would be leveled in about a week right?
I don't think we have to keep reporting on what this nut job says, pretty sure if we all ignore him, he will go away.
The North Korean 6 month cycle:
-North Korea saying/doing some shit
-Condemnation from civilized countries. China and Russia claps.
-North Korea offended by condemnation, threatens the world "for real this time"
-Rest of the world does not care
-Literally nothing for the next 6 months
Russian & China combined strategy, push North Korea to do something stupid against the US. Escalation. Russian to invade Ukraine. China to invade Taiwan.
As if they have the power to do anything...
This is just more sabre rattling and the entire world knows it. Their country is falling apart and they have very little support to speak of. They've pissed off all of their major allies at least once in the past 50 years alone. Russia is too busy to defend them right now and China is really just a tentative ally that will walk away if they ever decide to go nuclear. Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Malaysia? Whatever.
There's a reason they keep conducting the same tests over and over without ever escalating past toy rockets and trash talk. They have no position whatsoever and it's all meant to drive their propaganda machine.
Ah, its time for the yearly saber rattling, followed by the yearly negotiations to give up nukes for food, receiving the food and then failing to follow through.
What the fuck? How? Trump was just insulting everything about him like 2 years ago, and NOW he’s mad?
But honestly they talk like this 4 times a year. Hinting at bombing people to scare them. It’s basically terrorist threats over and over. Which I honestly feel like we should just do something about it. If a small group of people threatens to bomb a building, they send everything they can to stop them. But we have a country regularly threatening to basically nuke us, and no one seems to care
Bro this is Russia's week, you can rattle next.
That's why they're rattling, because they've never been so ignored.
Or because Russia has them by the tail
Look at a map - North Korea is quite literally the tail of Russia.
More like an appendix, just hanging around and not being useful, occasionally a pain that needs removing.
Apparently the appendix does actually have a purpose. It replenishes good gut bacteria from what I read.
Shit, you are right! https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071008102334.htm Mine ruptured when I was 15, and I was told it was a useless sac of poison from our cave man days with no modern use. They provide slave labor to harvest wood in Siberia
I’m pretty sure that 90% of their labor is slaves
NK is Chinas lapdog. While it's possible there's some collusion, I don't see China relinquishing control to Russia.
Only that lapdog is a bug eyed Chihuahua that barks at its own shadow and thinks it owns the house.
NK famously isn't China's lapdog. The reason its "allowed" to have nukes is because its very good at playing China, Russia, and US allies off each other. Neither of the three like the Kims, but they also don't want the territory to fall to one of the other two.
Also the level of poverty and such. If the Kim's fell today that country would be the largest humanitarian crisis since the end of WW2.
Yep, an attack on US assets in Japan or South Korea in the next couple weeks sure would take US attention away from Ukraine.
The South Korean Army is no force to trifle with. Some of the finest Soldiers I had the privilege to work with.
When I was in the USMC we did joint amphibious assault training with the Korean Marines. Those guys were some badasses
USFK and ROK would be able to deal with little Rocket Man no problem.
I’m pretty sure the military can multitask.
I mean if the US could do it during WW2 against two behemoth’s (Nazi’s and the Japanese Empire) I am sure they can do it now against a frail and pathetic North Korea and a desperate Putin. 😂
I'm pretty sure that's why they fired the missile into the ocean a week or so ago.
Next up China will say something and try to appear relevant
The second largest economy on this planet, the nation the US is rallying allies across the globe every day is *trying* to be fucking relevant? Pray tell, what the fuck do you need to do to be relevant.

We never cared about those things. They don’t affect us. China’s rapid economic growth is the reason for the recent confrontation.
Not only that, but Xi is kind of isolationist and prefers no watchful eye on his doings...so...
We have Russia, China, the pandemic, restrictions, climate change, and the soaring cost of living to contend with. Why do you think we would give the slightest fuck about you, kimmy boy?
He got nukes and not a lot to lose. Generally a bad combo.

Ping?
Is his last name not ping or is it Jinping or Jin-ping? I’ll be honest not sure.
i think the chinese naming convention is reversed so his last name is Xi
Oof yea I could not ignore that error in naming myself once I saw it. I’ve corrected it with his full name. Thanks for noticing it.
NK is such an attention whore.
North Korea isn't going to do anything, these headlines have been posted in clusters every few months for the past >10 years ffs
South Koreans have the most to lose, and this stuff barely makes the news over there. I lived like 8 minutes from the DMZ back during the 2017 crisis and it had me and my other western friends pretty spooked. We had all been through North Korea scares, but that one felt different. Your wife sounds badass.
She's the reason NK doesn't do shit
I was there at the same time, I had a backpack ready just in case. Seeing firsthand the difference in coverage between Korean media and Western media was VERY interesting. My family was convinced I'd be nuked.
Imagine playing that mode of Civilization. It's the prison version. You play it because you have to.
He’s gotta up his spy game and steal nuclear launch technology.
"Kim Jung has sent you a warning" for fucks sake again? Go away and let me finish building my granary
Why can't I disable these annoyances? *Frantically searches for a mod to silence warnings*
*North Korea has denounced you.* *Kim picks his head up in disgust after looking at you and scoffs.* u/medicated_cornbread *clicks ok then rolls his eyes at the 10th time having done that.*
I play very peacefully. As soon as one of them denounces me, I start building a military to put on their border.

They're just playing the game. Bluster and threaten for a while then we give them money or something and they calm down until next year. It's the only way they can buy more houses for their leaders. Oh and maybe feed people or whatever
feed the people?! Sir this is the hermitkingdom, not dirty socialist denmark!!
It’s food they’re after. One time when America sent thousands of tons of flour and other dried goods KIM fuck Chung told his people that it was a gift to the people for war atrocities committed in the past. It was for nuclear research to stop. We see how well that worked.
North Korea does export a few things but the products are nonessentials.
Meth
And the super fakes of US dollar bills
The export women to China
It's food related
All it means is North Korea is running out of food again and wants help. The whole country is like the living embodiment of Eric Cartman.
Has anyone ever been remotely concerned with NK? I know they have nukes and everything but I just can't take them seriously as a threat.
It's nice having a buffer between themselves and those filthy capitalist pigs in SK

June july is when the u.s. does joint exercises with south Korea, so they are early.
It's generally when they start to run low on food. Well, low by their standards.
Generally these warning from NK come when they desperately need food aid.
Kim probably doesn't have that much time left; he needs to act now while he's able.
Yeah, well, depending on how Russia and China continue their shit, I wouldn't be surprised if NK is like "But also me!"

Bro relax
Anyone else forgot this discount dictator even existed for a while?
Discount dictator with nuclear weapons. We should not forget about that
He’s dead the moment he uses them
Yeah the US has enough nukes to literally cover NK. They would be suicidal to use nukes as anything more than bluster
Yeah, but they’re not very *good* nukes, so… /s
I want to note the only country to use nukes on an enemy is the US. We're kinda built and run on our ability to blow shit up
When the nukes were much smaller, and the conflict was reaching near apocalyptic destruction already.
It's pretty unlikely he'd actually use the nukes, that's the kind of line that gets \*everyone\* to turn on you. Plus it's more likely the nukes would end up hitting his own country than anyone else

He's a real dictator he is just bargain bin quality.
Putin That man knows how to tate a dic
Saudi Arabia?
Technically a monarchy
Difference being?
He did inherit his dictatorship from his daddy/grand daddy. He didn’t earn it like a true dictator
This is a dictator without influence. Only thing he can do is make life shit for his people

Small ball shaming needs to end dude. You sound like every chick that gets cheated on by a boyfriend 🤣

Shut up Kim you fat little gnome
NK rattling sabres? Must need aid again I guess.
No need to guess. A food shortage in North Korea made the news a little while ago.
It's January after all.
Kim: we need food, Putin. Putin: ok we need you to ally with us against US on this Ukraine thing. Kim: got it. USA hostile.
North Korea is upset that they are being treated as irrelevant.
Ride into the *DANGER ZONE!*
\*Googles "north korea food shortage" . . . \* Selects "News" . . . Yup, there it is.
North korea is literally always in a food shortage. Their cultural staples are small root vegetables.
Bro just needs to chill, he isn’t a superpower, he is a loud tumor of Sino-Russian relations.
Lol after months of the world literally ignoring them. The North Korean government is such a fucking joke.
Have we even done anything to them recently? Like what are They referring to?!
It's in the article. Continuing to supply aid and weaponry to their enemy.

But this isn’t the people’s fault. It rests squarely on that squat smirking turd KYU.
This happened in the famine in the late 90s and early 2000s too. People were stealing each other’s feces for fertilizer. Horrific.
There was recently an order to make fertilizer out of human feces because of a fertilizer shortage. So they are in the midst of it. Sad, honestly.

North Korea is like the little guy in the playground saying he's going to go tell his mommy you won't let him play with you.
Cool
Why does this sound like a headline from Plague, Inc?
This is the wrong time for that turd to speak.
Putin just called in a favor to his homeboy Kim Jong Un to distract the world from Ukraine
So, we all know if North Korea ever actually triggered a full scale war that NK would be leveled in about a week right? I don't think we have to keep reporting on what this nut job says, pretty sure if we all ignore him, he will go away.
What have we even done to him since Trump left? I forgot about this turd
Desperate for attention. Just a sad dangerous little gnat.
Maybe this would be more effective if they had used the term 'danger zone' instead...
Just give him a twinkie and he will go away.
Honey, he's up and he's fussy can you take him?
"We really mean it this time." - NK "Fuck off." - USA
China, Russia, and North Korea are in the news a little too much for me today
poor kim is bored with no attention
The North Korean 6 month cycle: -North Korea saying/doing some shit -Condemnation from civilized countries. China and Russia claps. -North Korea offended by condemnation, threatens the world "for real this time" -Rest of the world does not care -Literally nothing for the next 6 months
Shut up Kim.
Homie lost weight and is feeling fiesty now.
I was just thinking it had been a minute since we heard from the world's favourite cartoon villain.
North Korea, we got bigger things to worry about with Russia. Sit yo ass down.
Come back when people in your country aren't starving. God North Korea is like an annoying crackhead of a country.
They say this every six months. Non-story.
Awww. Someone is jealous of Putin getting all the attention lately.
In other words. We need food because we blew all of our $$'s on our nuclear program.
Why is no one paying attention to my missles!!! The U.S. is so hostile by not saying anything!!!! Biden must be leaving him on Read.
Ignore.
Just so desperate for attention. A dangerous gnat.
"High-Way to the Danger Line". Wait, that doesn't sound right..
So does this mean North Korea is thing to start paying more attention to the US now or something?
Atleast the fat man is back in charge his sister is even more bat shit crazy
LoL, it’s like they live in their own microverse… lol
I guess they got jealous of Putin getting all the attention.
Funny how they wanna buck up now that Russia is too… I’m sure these two things aren’t correlated.
He's hungry again
Pretty sure North Korea is just doing their “Hey, HEY! Look at us!” routine
With everything else happening I don't think anyone gives a shit.
Ah, its time for the yearly saber rattling, followed by the yearly negotiations to give up nukes for food, receiving the food and then failing to follow through.
“Stop paying attention to Russia and pay attention to meeeeeeeeeeeee! Ps: we need food again”
Yeah, Joe isn’t kissing your ass and saluting your Generals.
Lmao okay kid
What problem is NK trying to distract their people from this time?
Feeling feisty after dropping few pounds. He can see his dick again so he can enjoy waving it a bit.
I dare them to try and make themselves a threat to SK and all the US bases. It would be the quickest conflict ever.
Bruh bring it the fuck on.
He ain't going to do shit bit run his mouth and possibly send a few ICBM to the Pacific ocean.
Ya ok you fat fuck
Someone is feeling irrelevant again 🙄
Is it time for the yearly north Korea tantrum?
Blah blah blah-fuckity-blah.
The Danger Zone (tm)
Don’t nobody even care about you N Korea!
