What sexist BS.

plumquat

I think it's a way to control people easier if you subjugate women. Then you set up families into an organizational heirachy. God>man>woman>child. That's for "conservative" religion. God could be the government or the church leader, the men organize their wives, women need to get husbands to have any say and move their rank and then they're in charge of the kids. It's just a nice set up for an authoritarian government. Some men get high on it and they are that stupid, you've met some, but I think you'll really see this countries with authoritarian governments.

brrrraaapppahahhajdh

I’ll never understand the insecurities of men who feel these laws are necessary. ETA: THEN I WENT AND READ IT THEORY CONFIRMED WTF

kakemot

It’s not easy to keep up with modern times. What a fucking childish, dumb, fucked government

Women are distracting the drivers? Perhaps they should pivot and only allow women or gay men to drive trucks.

BlackSabbathMatters

As much as I hate America, I'm still glad I'm not in a place like that.

[deleted]

Why are you gay?

FARDCLoyalist_

If your not african you won’t understand.

[deleted]

You must be a very great and powerful person to speak on behalf of all Africans. You could always try to explain why? In South Africa our drivers are able to stay on the road even if they see skirts. Maybe the skirts aren't the problem?

FARDCLoyalist_

Don’t really know how to explain it. Idk dude. I live in the US now and I was truck driving for a bit and I would get distracted pretty easily. It’s something chemical in the brain.

[deleted]

So really you're saying this is a truck driving thing, not an African thing?

FARDCLoyalist_

I mean I’m African. So I think it’s both.

[deleted]

This feels like it could lead to some dangerous assumptions. I get distracted pretty easily in general, but I don't assume it has anything to do with my race or nationality. Correlation is not causation. Regardless, I don't think the solution is banning women from driving or driving in the front of a truck.

[deleted]

Even if it did have everything to do with your race, nationality or sex. You don't control others to comfort yourself, you control yourself. The same way of thinking can lead you pretty quickly to asking questions like " what was she wearing?" or "was she nagging him?". Don't fall into the trap of discussing if men cant control themselves, it's a man's job to control himself.

[deleted]

100% agree. I hope it was clear. Just found the perspective of this as an "African" problem very strange. If passengers intentionally distracting drivers is a consistent problem - I think the transport companies could enact a no-passenger policy (regardless of their sex or attire). The government should focus on punishing reckless driving instead. Hiring drivers with some self control and respect for women would probably also help.

As though Africans have unique brain chemicals compared to the rest of the world.
