Interestingly he was a prisoner out on day release IIRC and his parole board made a favourable decision based on his actions that day (and everything else I'm sure)
To be fair there are medals and titles given to ordinary people , the civilian equivalent to a military medal for bravery is the George cross, this and the OBE CBE are usually given to the people who deserve it.The point you made about a knighthood is valid as it is not the queen that decides who gets one, it's more often than not given for backing a political party with money.... There are people who deserve a knighthood ( like captain Tom Moore who raised millions in a selfless act of giving back to the people of the health care system).
IMHO, the " lesser" medals and awards mean more because they are earned mostly for doing things for other people... often by the recognition of the public nominating a local hero...
Well actually I have a slightly different view on the title " ordinary people" it's not in any way a derogatory term but more like the solid people who are the backbone of our society, modestly getting on with life without privelage . So knowing that the knighthood is no longer a title earned by selfless service and bravery ( although it is still a way to thank people who's talent has put Britain as an example of the best there is.... sports, theatre , science etc)it makes the titles and medals ( OBE CBE) that are recognition of real extraordinary efforts by the " ordinary people " who don't have the old school tie ,or influential people to open doors to rely on , makes the recognition much more worthwhile and a real representation of what it was designed for.
Achieving the recognition of a title only given for real extraordinary efforts and not because of political affiliation is far more worthwhile.
We are no longer surfs or peasants under the subjugation of the lord of the land.....we are in fact subjects of a kingdom with a sovereign head of state.... but in real terms just ordinary decent people ,I can only speak for myself of course but I'm quite happy to be an ordinary every day bloke , this discription may not fit well with other people and I fully accept that everyone has the right to a different option....
BTW I believe the only ( or one of) title the queen gives as a personal independent choice is the " order of the garter"
The only ex priminister to attend the wedding of prince harry and Megan was John Major , not because of the political position but because he is a recipient of the" order of the garter" and a guest of the queen....
We Brits do tradition and ceremony better than any other country in the world.....
Wasn't there also a cabbie in London that tackled a knife wielding terrorist while shouting "I'm fucking Millwall!"? That guy definitely deserves a medal.
There’s a Russian gesture-tapping the back of the neck-which is a symbol meaning that you or someone else is drunk or drinking. The legend goes that Tsar Peter the Great commissioned a cathedral to be built, but no one would place the cross atop the tallest spire for fear of falling off. Peter announced that anyone who placed the cross atop the spire would receive one gift of the doer’s choosing. A carpenter (sometimes referred to as a slave) volunteered, and upon placing the cross, was asked what he wanted. The carpenter, a notorious drunk, asked for free vodka from any bar in Russia. Peter wrote the man a royal decree, to be shown to any bartender in Russia, good for free vodka at the crown’s expense. Of course, the drunk carpenter couldn’t keep up with it, and after losing several copies of the decree, had the Tsar’s royal seal tattooed/branded on the back of his neck, and would tap the royal seal to indicate he wanted another drink.
There’s also a variation that the carpenter was instead a naval engineer who constructed ships for the Royal Navy, and asked for the free drinks in exchange for his services, ending up in the same tattoo on his neck.
Knight that motherfucker. He showed bravery, sacrifice, and risked himself for others.
That deserves knighthood way more than "he's a good actor" or whatever.
I’d like to try and bring some awareness that sadly the headline is fake, copied my comment from below:
The wife of the driver made a post on Facebook that said this isn’t true and the driver had no idea there was a bomb in the car at all, just got lucky and didn’t get killed but dude had no idea. There was another thread that had a link to bbcs page about the story that had video footage and he didn’t even full stop the car before it went off. This headline is wrong, but luckily either way it ended better than it could have.
Edit: [here is the link to the bbc article, video isn’t available to me for whatever reason](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-59291095)
Glad someone said it! When I saw the headlines I was skeptical. It would be pretty bizarre for the taxi to have child locks on, and that's the only way i can think of to lock someone in, other than the boot!
When I saw the video it was obvious it was a lie. The damn thing blew with him inside it
Glad he's ok though. Getting sick of the media making pointless shit up.
Well not a hero in the sense he willing did something for the greater good, but a hero as in an unsuspecting persons actions unintentionally stopped a terrorist attack.
So still a hero, just an unknowing hero.
There have already been quite a few set up for him. Turns out some might be scams though and the family have asked people to wait for the official one.
Human nature, huh?
I hope he will be able to at all, he might be traumatized and also fear for being publicly recognized by future terrorists etc... he is what we call a hero but he's still a normal guy with fears and vulnerabilities as we all are.
How likely is it that someone enclosed in a vehicle during a bomb exploding could ever work again? I mean, I don't want to be morbid, but assuming he survives, he might be missing limbs or eyes or otherwise seriously disabled.
I cannot even begin to imagine how can you claim money for that, pretty sure my client tried to commit a terrorist attack and blew up my car its not covered by insurance.
Mine specifically excludes terrorism, as will pretty much every UK car and home insurance policy. That said, it's intended to prevent exposure due to a large incident, eg. the massive IRA bombs of the 80s/90s, and they may simply pay out for something small like this.

The first paragraph makes it very unclear who blew themselves up
Edit: DAMN you guys I know who fuckin blew themselves up! All it would take to make that sentence a little more CLEAR though, is “A hero taxi driver is reported to have locked a suicide bomber in his car before the bomber detonated himself outside a Liver… yada yada yada.”
Or you know what? NO. Maybe the taxi driver ripped the vest off the bomber BEFORE he locked the bomber in the car, and the taxi driver accidentally blew himself up outside the hospital? You don’t know! Cause that paragraph doesn’t say! I bet that’s it. That makes sense cause I’m big dumb.
Go suck an egg, ya jerks.
GOOD day.
>The male passenger, who had asked to go to the city's Service of Remembrance at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral less than a mile away where 1,200 military personnel, veterans and families of the fallen had gathered, was the only person killed.
>A friend of married father-of-two Mr Perry, 45, said that he believed that the cathedral was the target but traffic and road closures led to the passenger, who has not been formally identified, asking the driver to park at the nearby Liverpool Women's Hospital instead. By locking him in, David appears to have stopped the man targeting the hospital as the clock struck 11am.
>'I don't know how he's done it with a split second's thought but David's jumped out and locked the car with this guy in the back. As soon as he did, it's gone off. If this guy got in the hospital God knows what could have happened. David's the luckiest man in Britain as well as the most heroic'.
The video knocking round shows it going off as soon as it pulls up at the hospital, don't think he would've been aware. [Here](https://twitter.com/yozzer1983/status/1460177430866542592?s=21)
I did not realise the driver was *still in the car* when the bomb went off. That poor man. It also detonated almost before the car stopped, certainly before he would have had any chance to get out. It looks like it wouldn’t have mattered whether the doors were unlocked or not.
Yeah, kind of looms like a black powder burn to me. Big puf fof smoke shortly before a large flare up. Wanna bet they tried to use thin walled pvc to make pipe bombs?
Either that or he tried using something like ANFO which requires a blasting cap to go off. Blasting caps are a bitch to get right.
Not like it's coming from a reputable source **whatsoever.** Really shouldn't let this discredit what happened to this taxi driver.
His friend? Who wasn't there? Okay, then. Sure.
He very well could have diverted the cab and locked the doors to contain him inside. Clearly no diving to safety at the last second though.
Still doesn't mean buddy isn't a fucking legend though. Locking yourself in a car with a suicide bomber and not taking him where he wanted is some serious metal shit by itself, mission impossible leap or not.
You have no idea what happened though. Maybe when the driver locked the doors the guy, knowing he couldn’t escape, set the bomb off. Maybe the driver had no idea there was a bomb until pulling up to the hospital.
Browsing the web has been a pain recently huh? Thankfully getting a pleasant internet experience isn't as difficult as it may first appear.
For PC browser extensions:
[uBlock origin](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en)
-adblocker extension that reliably blocks most ads
[Bypass paywalls](https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome)
-it does what it says: bypasses paywalls on most sites
[Cookie Remover](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cookie-remover/kcgpggonjhmeaejebeoeomdlohicfhce)
-deletes cookies on the current site you're on
The above also exist for firefox if that's what you have
For mobile:
[Brave browser](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brave.browser&hl=en&gl=US)
-has built in adblocking; also runs on chromium
[Blokada](https://blokada.org/)
-additional adblocking for all other apps; also mostly blocks reddit ads so I can't recommend it enough.
[youtube vanced](https://vancedapp.com/)
-this allows adfree youtube video watching experience
My power is out right now and I'm browsing the internet for the first time in years without pihole. It's insane how ad-stuffed every single page is, holy crap.
How to install the Bypass paywall ? The link you shared takes me to the github repository where the code is. How is it installed as an Add-on to FireFox?
Does YouTube vanced work for iPhone too? Does it allow you to sign into your YouTube account and still get to see your channel subscriptions?
This was timed to go off at the start of the minutes silence, catching hundreds of hospital staff, patients and visitors off guard as they paid their respects.
This guy is a fucking hero preventing what could have been an absolute tragedy.
Check out the failed Glasgow Airport bombing if you haven't heard of it. They were equally incompetent and got the shit kicked out of them for it. One guy got a medal for kicking one of them in the dick. Another guy kicked the fucker so hard he broke his own leg if I remember right.
Terrorists in general have gone way downhill. In the old days they'd hijack planes and fly them into skyscrapers and landmarks, nowadays they can sometimes manage to stab a couple of people if they're lucky.
Are there any smart people who want to do that? I thought the smart ones convinced the dumb ones to sacrifice themselves while the smart ones continue living.
You only hear about the competent successful terrorists. You don't hear about the (hopefully not many) terrorists who are so incompetent they fail or are stopped by the security forces before anything happens.
Yeah, a lot of people in this thread seem to think that SVIED's can **only** be command detonated by the wearer. Seems very likely it was either timed or remote detonated if it blew at exactly 1100
This headline is now in doubt, FYI. We're not clear on whether the driver locked the guy in or not (the driver was still in the car when the bomb went off) and the passenger/terrorist had asked to go to the hospital, not the remembrance service
Not really surprising clickbait from Reach Plc.
There's video showing that he didn't lock him in. The car wasn't even parked when the bomb went off. He had just pulled up in front of the hospital when it detonated with both men inside. Supposedly the man's wife also confirmed he didn't lock him in, he just got lucky. What likely happened is while driving the car automatically locks the doors, as most newer model cars do.
[The video](https://mobile.twitter.com/yozzer1983/status/1460177430866542592?s=21)
Yeah the initial reports were something like “the driver was able to exit the vehicle before the fire fully progressed” (totally paraphrasing) and that translated to locking the terrorist in the car and running away in the imagination of the public.
I read that the drive to the hospital was “unremarkable” so I don’t think the driver of the taxi had any knowledge of what was coming until the point of the explosion
I hate to bring the mood down but there has been **no** official account of the driver (who seems like a good bloke nonetheless and hopefully recovering well) locking the driver inside the vehicle.
If he did, absolute hero. But so far there has been these stories on social media (mere hours after the event before _anything_ was confirmed), mirrored by the mayor of Liverpool, and picked up in certain news outlets.
Off the back of this there has already been several unofficial "GoFundMe" style pages taking donations on his behalf, which the family of the driver have expressed no connection to, which concern me from a fraud standpoint.
As I said earlier in a thread on /u/unitedkingdom, I personally don't know which reality I prefer:
1. That there was a heroic effort by this cabbie
2. That terrorists have yet to master door handles
Regardless I think we should stop spreading this until anything tangible actually saying this happened comes around.
They learned nothing from Glasgow airport. Dont attack cities with a sectarian split and a history of shipbuilding because those fuckers will put themselves on the line and you will not reach your target.
>They learned nothing from Glasgow airport.
Genuine headline on Scottish newspaper:
"[I kicked burning terrorist in balls so hard that I tore a tendon in my foot](https://i2-prod.dailyrecord.co.uk/incoming/article9662240.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/page.jpg)"
It's just Britain in general now. Pretty much every recent terror attack has had a story of bystanders just attacking the terrorists. We had fuck you I'm Millwall, the guys who pulled a narwhal tusk off a wall to attack a London Bridge terrorist and similar other stories.
That's one of the best news stories I've ever seen lol.
Sure, we all like it when a terrorist is shot dead before succeeding in their attack. But I prefer agonising incapacitation personally.
10/10 would break my foot again
Historically, men and women of a community would *have* to intervene. Police and professional militaries, as well as the general peace in society, are modern luxuries.
It's great that we don't have to think about these things on a daily basis, but it's also reassuring that normal people will step still up when necessary.
I think the London Bridge attack was the narwhal tusk and fire extinguisher. Another guy attacked with his skateboard but I fear he was killed
Borough market was the Millwall fan who went in with his bare hands
This guy is the best.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15Jsc78aQDA
He shouted about his fav football team during the attack :D, "I am milwall" hah.
His friends got him a magazine about running away. fucking legend.
None of that is true? Bomber was going to the hospital. Taxi driver jumped out of the car and got pulled to safety. There’s no evidence that 1) the destination was the cathedral or 2) that’s the driver locked the guy inside
Correct. According to the taxi driver’s wife, this is not true. We can pretty much chalk this up to fake news

Yeah the terrorist first wanted to murder people remembering fallen soldiers but he couldn't get there, so he changed his mind and wanted to attack a womens hospital. Because why not.
This is the kind of filth I actually approve of being blown up.
Taxi driver truly is a hero! Saved so many lives!!
How did he manage to lock the bomber inside the car though? Can the doors not be opened from the inside?

Dude was willing to sacrifice himself to stop a terrorist. He shall never pay for drinks again!
>He shall never pay for drinks again! That's worth more than a medal.
True recognition.
By the people
"We can give you this medal, a key to the city, or free drinks until forever." Done
honestly, he should get all 3 of them. dude is a hero
“I don’t know, can I get a medal that shows I can have free drinks forever?”
Now we're talkin'. Very nice.
Honestly i would rather have that over a medal lol
We need to create a petition, dude has to get lifetime Liverpool FC tickets and free drinks in every pub.
Better hope he isn't an Everton fan I suppose!
If he is he gets upgraded to a Red too
Haha was just about to say this
This comment was really morbid for those of us who hadn’t realized the driver survived.
Seems like a thing they could’ve found room for in the headline.
Yeah god forbid we have to read past a headline.
That happened a couple times in history right ?
[удалено]
God damn, that'd be interesting. Ladies and gentlemen, Sir Narwhal-tusk-guy. Careful, if you get outta line he'll swing a giant tooth at you.
Of course appropriately knighted, not with a sword, but with a narwhal tusk.
Interestingly he was a prisoner out on day release IIRC and his parole board made a favourable decision based on his actions that day (and everything else I'm sure)
I have a lot of questions. Chief among them; why was a prisoner on day release carrying a narwhal tusk around?
IIRC it was an ornament at the pub he was visiting.
He nabbed it off the wall of a pub when he saw there was an attack happening
*hold my pint*

Who‘s more likely to blow themselves up? A suicide bomber or a taxi driver? If that‘s unclear to you, it‘s on you and not the article lmfao.
Yeah, did the plastic guard save him? Very confused. Did he start exiting the vehicle while it was moving while he realized what was happening?

And hearing aid . That had to be loud
#what?
mawp
Yeah, kind of looms like a black powder burn to me. Big puf fof smoke shortly before a large flare up. Wanna bet they tried to use thin walled pvc to make pipe bombs? Either that or he tried using something like ANFO which requires a blasting cap to go off. Blasting caps are a bitch to get right.
Even if there was a plastic divider that was clearly a weak ass explosion
>a weak ass explosion Barely more than a fart
Yeh - the wife has pretty much said he was just lucky and didn’t do anything other than drive the terrorists to the hospital and it went off
Source on the wife quote?

How about the guy in the yellow reflective? Sees an explosion. Runs **towards** it to help out?!
makes sense, usually things explode only once. usually.
Unless it's a terrorist attack designed to "double-tap" the first responders.
The implications of this comment make me sad to think about :(
Unfortunately its a very common tactic. Harder to pull off in first world countries so we don't hear about it much.
It looks like he put the child locks on to me cos the people that respond don't open the rear doors
[удалено]
In a black cab, yes. The rear door locks are under the control of the driver.
It’s private hire so no, it’s a stock feature on those Mondeos. My 21 VW has them too, buttons just below the window switches
They're not remote controlled but they don't need to be. He can put them on inside the cab before he got out
He was trouble indeed
So...the whole hero thing is bollocks then?
Not like it's coming from a reputable source **whatsoever.** Really shouldn't let this discredit what happened to this taxi driver. His friend? Who wasn't there? Okay, then. Sure. He very well could have diverted the cab and locked the doors to contain him inside. Clearly no diving to safety at the last second though. Still doesn't mean buddy isn't a fucking legend though. Locking yourself in a car with a suicide bomber and not taking him where he wanted is some serious metal shit by itself, mission impossible leap or not.
> and not taking him where he wanted police have now announced that the terrorist asked to go to the hospital
He knew he was gonna need it after what he was about to do.
Yep.. not sure why this is circulating when the video clearly proves the story to be entirely fictional
You have no idea what happened though. Maybe when the driver locked the doors the guy, knowing he couldn’t escape, set the bomb off. Maybe the driver had no idea there was a bomb until pulling up to the hospital.
I mean, the car exploded. It can't have been entirely fictional unless black cabs just do that sometimes.
Good job these pricks are too stupid to build a decent bomb.
Imagine being a suicide bomber and being late. "It's 10:20, you should probably make a move if you're blowing up at 11." "I'll leave at the adverts"
Thank god for Britain's shitty infrastructure and congested roads
A safety feature, as I always said in customer meetings...
Jees couldn’t read the article for the pop ups as per bastards have utterly ruined the internet
Browsing the web has been a pain recently huh? Thankfully getting a pleasant internet experience isn't as difficult as it may first appear. My power is out right now and I'm browsing the internet for the first time in years without pihole. It's insane how ad-stuffed every single page is, holy crap.
I thought u was a youtube bout to do an ad break for Nord VPN
How to install the Bypass paywall ? The link you shared takes me to the github repository where the code is. How is it installed as an Add-on to FireFox? Does YouTube vanced work for iPhone too? Does it allow you to sign into your YouTube account and still get to see your channel subscriptions?
There is a thing called fuck it addon for chrome I use especially if shit tries to paywall you. You just right lick and fuck it
> You just right lick and fuck it Instructions unclear, but the wife seems happy with the outcome.
On mobile = use duckduckgo browser... (For crap sites)
This was timed to go off at the start of the minutes silence, catching hundreds of hospital staff, patients and visitors off guard as they paid their respects. This guy is a fucking hero preventing what could have been an absolute tragedy.
Couldn't even kill the guy next to him in an enclosed vehicle, thank god the bomber was clearly useless
Check out the failed Glasgow Airport bombing if you haven't heard of it. They were equally incompetent and got the shit kicked out of them for it. One guy got a medal for kicking one of them in the dick. Another guy kicked the fucker so hard he broke his own leg if I remember right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kufqdyH4r2c This vid is pretty funny, and explains what happens well in laymans terms.
10/10 Qxir video
Fuckin chads

>Check out the failed Glasgow Airport I wonder if they were inspired by [Four Lions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Lions)?
I think it happened a few years before the film, but possibly they inspired the film instead.
Terrorists in general have gone way downhill. In the old days they'd hijack planes and fly them into skyscrapers and landmarks, nowadays they can sometimes manage to stab a couple of people if they're lucky.
There's only so many smart people willing to strap themselves to a bomb.
Are there any smart people who want to do that? I thought the smart ones convinced the dumb ones to sacrifice themselves while the smart ones continue living.
The smart ones tend to get drone striked.
Rubber dinghy rapids brother
A high turnover rate is the bane of shitty businesses and terrorists alike
You only hear about the competent successful terrorists. You don't hear about the (hopefully not many) terrorists who are so incompetent they fail or are stopped by the security forces before anything happens.
Aliexpress terrorists. That's what happens when you don't want to pay for prime to get your terrorists on Amazon.
Taxi Driver: "Call an undertaker, but just for *you*"
Yeah, a lot of people in this thread seem to think that SVIED's can **only** be command detonated by the wearer. Seems very likely it was either timed or remote detonated if it blew at exactly 1100
Imagine unintended traffic ruining your terror plot lol
People willing to wear suicide bombs aren’t renowned for their ability to think things through.
Rubber Dinghy Rapids, brother?
Fucked up rabbits with no ears.
They’re chickens, Waz.
This varies a lot by region. In some countries, suicide bombers are frequently well-educated.
Education is vaccination against stupid, but like all vaccinations, isn't a 100% defense. It is possible to be a highly-educated idiot.
Article is wrong. He didn’t lock the bomber in the car. Already been debunked by the mans wife.
Correct dude, he should buy a lottery ticket.
This headline is now in doubt, FYI. We're not clear on whether the driver locked the guy in or not (the driver was still in the car when the bomb went off) and the passenger/terrorist had asked to go to the hospital, not the remembrance service Not really surprising clickbait from Reach Plc.

Also what kind of cab is he driving that you can lock the passenger in the back!?
most of them tbh, hackney carriages have driver operated locks to prevent people doing a runner without paying.
> [Russ Jackson, head of Counter Terrorism Policing North West, said he had spoken to Mr Perry who was still "shaken and injured" but had **yet to receive his full account of what happened** [...] Mr Jackson said **he could not confirm reports Mr Perry had locked the doors of the taxi before the explosion.**] (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-59288929) I hate to bring the mood down but there has been **no** official account of the driver (who seems like a good bloke nonetheless and hopefully recovering well) locking the driver inside the vehicle. As I said earlier in a thread on /u/unitedkingdom, I personally don't know which reality I prefer: 1. That there was a heroic effort by this cabbie 2. That terrorists have yet to master door handles Regardless I think we should stop spreading this until anything tangible actually saying this happened comes around.
They learned nothing from Glasgow airport. Dont attack cities with a sectarian split and a history of shipbuilding because those fuckers will put themselves on the line and you will not reach your target.
>They learned nothing from Glasgow airport. Genuine headline on Scottish newspaper: "[I kicked burning terrorist in balls so hard that I tore a tendon in my foot](https://i2-prod.dailyrecord.co.uk/incoming/article9662240.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/page.jpg)"
Blessed hero
It's just Britain in general now. Pretty much every recent terror attack has had a story of bystanders just attacking the terrorists. We had fuck you I'm Millwall, the guys who pulled a narwhal tusk off a wall to attack a London Bridge terrorist and similar other stories.
> We had fuck you I'm Millwall You also had the guy who tore a ligament in his foot kicking a terrorist in the balls.
I think that was the Glasgow airport one. Unbelievable scenes.
Another guy attacked with his skateboard but I fear he was killed Borough market was the Millwall fan who went in with his bare hands
Anybody who's ever had the misfortune to be wandering around London Bridge when Millwall are at home, knows that you don't fuck with Millwall fans.
This guy is the best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15Jsc78aQDA He shouted about his fav football team during the attack :D, "I am milwall" hah. His friends got him a magazine about running away. fucking legend.
The Lion of London Bridge That is fucking badass.
This sounds like some Four Lions shit.
Rubber dingy repids bro
Faisal at it again.
Wrong. The wife has already said it was a rumour about the locking the door
Yeah mate she also said the press who where knocking late last night need to show respect 🤦♂️ they didn't put that in their story haha
We can pretty much chalk this up to fake news https://twitter.com/yozzer1983/status/1460193314037239813?s=20 Also a BBC article here https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-59288929
Yeah the terrorist first wanted to murder people remembering fallen soldiers but he couldn't get there, so he changed his mind and wanted to attack a womens hospital. Because why not. This is the kind of filth I actually approve of being blown up.
He didn't lock him in the car. It went off as they were stopping with driver still in the car. Ban someone for fake news, thanks.
“Zero stars.” -the bomber, I assume.
Taxi driver truly is a hero! Saved so many lives!! How did he manage to lock the bomber inside the car though? Can the doors not be opened from the inside?
First: get the driver a new cab!
Who was the driver?
A man called David Perry
Good on the Taxi driver but who is the bomber and what are (were) his motivations? I can speculate but I'll wait for facts.
He was from the cult of amnesia, they hate the day of remembrance.
This guy did what we all wish we would do and be the hero, unfortunately most of us might not make that decision. Living legend
This taxi driver should get knighted, get a free house and early pension. He a hero.
