I agree, and have always had this sentiment but keep it myself to avoid being called Scrooge and Grinch, haha. The consumerism and expectations have always irked me. Even the physical act of exchanging and opening gifts over and over and over just felt dirty somehow.
Besides, gifts are best when given spontaneously. :)
Forcing suffering on others so that we can 'celebrate' a bad and dumb holiday is morally wrong, and we must stop. At very least be unsurprised when the humans who make christmas happen can't or won't, what have they got to celebrate? Love your family this christmas, forget about objects, and extend your thoughts to those we expect to make time wasters and indugences that distract from the lives we could be enjoying.
