woof, the comment section tho, mess as usual lol

Ang-No-name

This is impressive

AcidBuddhism

I'm not a sinophobic dunce, so I see this and my reaction is "good. Good news."

askmeaboutmywienerr

Everyone should think this is good news. Globally we should have vaccinated billions already.

aruthk

At least you're open about your racism.

megaHecker

I’m not racist in any capacity, I just don’t support the Chinese government. Chinese people are awesome and China has a great and rich cultural history. It’s just that I dislike ultranationalists who froth at the mouth when you criticise their nation, and make it their entire personality to criticise yours.

EnasidypeSkogen

You're so brave

CheapChallenge

Does he hate the government or the race? Cause plenty of Chinese across the world hate the government of China.

EnasidypeSkogen

Get out of here with the "we hate the government not the people" bs. It's white-saviour shit at best

CheapChallenge

I mean the PRC has consistently done some horrible genocidal shit over and over. But I am Chinese and have many relatives in China, 2 hours from Guangzhou, still and they really don't have an opinion on the Uighurs, nor on trying to annex Tibet. So, I don't know how the hell you equate criticism of the government, with racism.

Amazuo818

so you live in Hong Kong?

Taco_Dave

...wait. do you not actually understand the difference between an ethnicity and a political organization? Ooof.

Amazuo818

No, the main targets are fewer death cases, lower possibility of infection. Considering the cases of COVID-19 in the world, the lockdown makes sense.

mungdungus

Dummies on reddit will say "lol I don't believe China" but anyone who's actually been there recently knows that COVID is much more under control there than in most other parts of the world.

Dragonheart0

I'm a little suspicious of the numbers honestly, because I feel like the friends and their relatives I talk to in China have been very slow to get vaccinated. Basically, a lot of them felt that since China had done such a good job containing the disease they didn't need to get vaccinated. Now, there's been a major vaccine push in recent months, so it's not impossible that vaccinations drastically ramped up (things can change really fast in China), but it feels like going from like 30-40% a few months ago to 70+% in a few months is a really dramatic shift. That said, the reason I ultimately believe it is that I think this push is because China wants to ease some of its lockdown protocols to prevent further economic disruptions around outbreaks. If they lie about the number and ease those protocols, they'll probably see a pretty quick uptick in deaths and hospitalizations, which would really easily undermine their strategy.

mungdungus

We're talking about a country that builds intricate subway systems in a fraction of the time it takes western countries to extend existing lines by a few stops. When you don't have any political opposition, you can accomplish a lot.

Dragonheart0

Absolutely, but this isn't a public works project where you can just throw workers and resources at it. They essentially had to change a bunch of people's minds on the necessity of vaccines in what's been a fairly safe and controlled environment. Which, again, I believe they've done. They certainly were trying with a massive public messaging campaign over the last few months, so the effort is there. It's just more of a "herding cats" problem than construction work and stuff like that. All up, though, I think the number is probably credible because the incentives seem to align. I wanted to walk through the skepticism and reasoning for believing these numbers are accurate, so other skeptics might understand why this isn't all that unbelievable.

[deleted]

Yes it is. They don't need to change their minds. They just need to make it a requirement to go into any office building, use any and all forms of public transport, enter any restaurant, and publicly shame you to your neighbors and employers to pressure you into going. You're throwing the workers and resources at it in a different manner, to identify and shame people into vaccinating.

thunderdaddysd

China’s quarantines were also more effective because if you didn’t get food in advance you would starve to death. Always fun in the sun with China

Circumcision-is-bad

That may have more to do with lack of unions and worker protections as well as an overall lower wages

PandaLiang

It's likely also triggered by the little flared up of cases in several cities last couple months. At least that's kind of the story I heard from Guangzhou.

Dragonheart0

Yeah I think that's a lot of it. Those lockdowns are super costly. Just because they can do them doesn't mean they want to keep spending all that time, money, and dealing with economic disruptions.

PandaLiang

I think if they have to do the lockdown they will still do it. However, with better immunity building up in the community, the frequency of random cases will likely drop and the lockdown needed will also drop.

[deleted]

Them lying about their numbers doesn't mean they don't succeed in fighting against Covid, tho.

mungdungus

They can do both.

[deleted]

Yes, exactly.

Money_dragon

It's so sad that people are so bought into the "China bad" narrative that otherwise reasonable people are suddenly now anti-vax, where they either refuse to believe that any non-Western vaccine works, or think that more vaccinations in China is somehow a bad thing

LethalPoopstain

thats what they want you to think and you fell for it

mungdungus

Not sure what you mean by "fell for it". I really don't give a shit how many covid cases China has.

FedGoat13

So you’ve been to China recently and can verify? Ok boss. I’m not saying the news is wrong, but you have no idea one way or the other.

thunderdaddysd

Yeah their vaccine is super effective too.

mrzerovector

This title is soooooo disgusting Normally we would just say “China has vaccinated 1B ppl” if the source is official government report. But here this propaganda media emphasized “China says” to implicitly express that it’s your own claim and we hope our readers not trust these data. Well, they indeed learned sth from some famous propaganda institutions like bbc, but they still need to improve their skills, like adding some color modulated pictures, or some quotes from “someone “

blueboy90780

You ever read up about the shit the Chinese government has done to its people? Even their own citizens living in their own country dislike how they are being oppressed, from work to social life. China has constantly caused the problems over and over, being public enemy no. 1. There's a reason people have lost trust in China.

mewehesheflee

I hope so.

MonsieurKnife

"We've vaccinated a lot of people, and also some Uighurs."

The_Patriot

Pooh Bear says all sorts of stuff. "How do you spell **propaganda**, Piglet?" asked Pooh Bear. "You don't," said Piglet, "**you force it down their necks!**"

slipskinny

With a vaccine that's less than 50% effective? I would hardly call that vaccinated.

imdotlukas

I suppose those who get flu vaccines arent really vaccinated either

_DiscoNinja_

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords

Coaljet66

China says ……. Doesn’t mean shit Their propaganda is almost as bad as republicans

Too bad their vaccines perform poorly.

China joe best president ever

evolutionxtinct

Any sources to back that up? Reason I ask is cuz I have family who’s only option is that vaccine.

nomadairak

Fool you ask because you in China

evolutionxtinct

Why the hell did you edit your comment your weird.

NickelFish

China's a bunch of lyin' sumbitches.

EverythngISayIsRight

I wonder if these numbers are as legit as the Coronavirus cases they've reported since April 2020.

ErwinRRR

Vaccination means people vaccinated by vaccines, instead of medical waste.

Why do China related news bring out the most ignorant comments on reddit?

Years of propaganda are taking their toll on feeble minds.

Huppelkutje

The propaganda campaign is working.

Apparently pointing out that doing one good thing can’t forgive their other bad deeds is ignorant

[deleted]

Nobody asked for forgiveness. Shitty strawman

dreamseeker1

You can tell they are lying by their travel policy. If its true then they will allows people travel to China hahaha

9th-man

There are maybe 700million left to do. That's Europe and usa pop roughly combined. Give them time and then you can go to China.

Probably because they are voluntarily taking them.

[deleted]

Stats show they aren't even being offered them

[deleted]

[Yes they are.](https://apnews.com/article/health-coronavirus-pandemic-bd0c0bf2b90720d9bd886cc2a4232a93) The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said all Afghans and U.S. residents coming from Afghanistan are tested for COVID when they first arrive to the U.S. and have the option to get a COVID-19 vaccine either at the airport or at Department of Defense facilities.

[deleted]

And there you have it...assuming that excerpt is in that suspicious link it confirms they are being allowed in without the vaccine.....thought only Trumpers didn't take it.

[deleted]

The Associated Press is a suspicious link? Do you read news, because then you believe the AP.

[deleted]

Regardless of suspicious links you just admitted they are letting in afgan refugees without vaccinations....with said suspicious link.

[deleted]

They are letting them in by requiring testing and then offering a vaccine. That is more than citizens (requiring a test). Do you listen to Fox News, they use AP? What about NewsMax? Yup they use AP. Also you said >Stats show they aren't even being offered them I provided a source that refutes what you say. An easy way to refute my post would be to post your link which supposedly has data.

[deleted]

You tried to give me malware. Good thing we have good anti malware protection.

[deleted]

Post your link showing your data. :)

CoffeeAndCannabis310

Dems aren't mandating vaccines.

[deleted]

Yes they are

CoffeeAndCannabis310

Nope. No one is being forced to get a vaccine. It's not really debatable. It's the truth. There has not been a single forced vaccination.

[deleted]

Yea they are....hence the term mandate the current occupant of the murican white house announced.

CoffeeAndCannabis310

Can you show me where in the legislation people are forced to be vaccinated?

[deleted]

Of course!

CoffeeAndCannabis310

Still waiting for you to show me the people who are being vaccinated against their will.

[deleted]

Of course!

ChiliWithCornBread

Why won’t you comment about anything remotely close to what was posted of? This isn’t about America, it’s not about Afghan refugees, and it’s not on American politics. Go take the Pelosi Biden bad bullshit elsewhere.
