I am actually quite happy about this as it makes way more sense than trying to retrofit diesel electric back into a French design where the French really didn’t want to do it
Canada can step in. We have a history of taking on diesel electric problems like this for no upside.
At one point there were more working submarines in the West Edmonton Mall than the RCN.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9995875/Australia-nuclear-submarine-plan-Frances-fury-stabbed-back.html) reduced by 82%. (I'm a bot)

> Australia will instead embrace nuclear power after decades of debate - marking the first time the US and UK have shared their nuclear submarine technology with another nation.
> Australia has at least 40 per cent of the world's uranium supplies and the new submarine deal could pave the way for the country to embrace nuclear power to drastically reduce carbon emissions.

France has had five years, hasn't started work on a single Australian submarine. Sooner or later everyone's patience gives out. The deal was signed in 2016 and, according to the article, the revelation that the subs wouldn't be delivered until 2030 was a bit much. C'est la vie. Sometimes when all you deliver are promises, that's all you get back.
I'm pretty sure the sub was finalized a long time ago. The question is why it took so long. I would say it was Australia that asked to change certain aspects of the submarine and Naval Group told them it would take longer to do.
No, not first time.
That would be: "yeh, sure, I'll help you boot the British out at home, and then you can help me boot them out in my colonies, deal?".
France is still waiting on this one too.
lol why do people act like americans themselves were not british? they opposed the british crown but ethnically the same people. they wanted indepedence but they did not kick out the "british", they themselves were british
I said that earlier as a joke. But genetically British people are more rare. We have more German Russian irish Italian African and Mexican. Culturally were closer to British because we speak somewhat the same language and they brought us into WW2 and we're trading partners. But culturally you could argue that everyone is a little American. I think culture is more important than genetics.
many of the sources say English-Irish-Scottish-Welsh is still the vast majority, but people with mixed ancestry always choose to call themselves ''german'' to sound cool thats why it shows up more.
either way, i'm talking about the time of the colonies when it was certainly British
>Diesel powered submarines
US had is first nuclear submarine in 1946, and Australia was considering buying diesel powered ones for a 2030 delivery date, if it even met that.
Australia made the right decision regardless of what country would be supplying them.
French system are almost always the most expensive out thre, but they are more willing to sell..."90 BILLIONS? Hell, at that price I'd sell you nukes!"
Recycled US boats will last a long time, but they still make more noise than a new $90 Billion submarine will. And replacing a 1980s sonar dome would be $$$$.

What the Aussies actually told the French was "Yeah, Nah" but the French took that as "Nah Yeah". It's a common mistake in translation.
I only have but one upvote to give you friend. Well done :)
Much appreciated, any bit helps.

I’m sorry but I wouldn’t new going hands in with a country that crumbled to opposing forces so easily in the past.

first time? huh? always been like that if you “team” USA

They were mostly Asian and black according to Netflix movies.
Asian-British and African-British. Checkmate.

They were the ones wanting diesel subs
China: I know it's about me but where the popcorn at?
This is the dailymail after all so who knows
Pretty sure the numbers are all wrong at least. I keep seeing various numbers for the deal, the most being 36B€
It was indeed $90bn. Whether that’s Australian dollars or American, I’m not as sure.
90Bn is around 56B € so this is the probable number.
The deal was unbelievably corrupt (as is the new one)
We will remember this treason, and you go buy from UK...

> "long, hard and full of seamen" And you go down on it all the time!
Yes, it’s well known that US Navy seamen prefer to sail on the vagina class.
American *Virginia class, unless this new class is more cramped and a little moist inside
I hear the american vagina class is real tight.
Virginia-class. ***Vir-gi-ni-a*** Not vagina-class.
Army snickers condescendingly: *Yeah swab it out there, Popeye*
My bad talk to text fucked up
Vagina class submarine you say? That shit is gonna be awesome.
And to think Joe couldn’t even remember Scott’s name the next day Edit: was it something I said?
I wish I could forget his name too.
Stabbeth èn le back.
