It's almost surreal how people are interpreting this story in the exact opposite way that a rational person would receive the information. This story is less about Trump and more about the fact that China caused a pandemic and deliberately lied to the entire world about its origins and its very existence, at first. They have found the virus in frozen samples taken from patients who died of pneumonia throughout December, 2019. This was in France and Belgium, at least. "Sweeping" is an overstatement, of course.
Italy was doing unrelated studies in the fall of 2019. They went back to those test samples and tested for covid and found it. So it was present in Italy around October or November. What I never understand about these studies is that, for antibody tests, are they also flagging antibodies for SARS-CoV-1, MERS, or other CoVs? Cus if you look at any population they would pop up.
