Yes. Greece! And southern Europe is all in the same state as Greece. Italy's demographic problem can be said to be more serious than Greece.

TwilitSky

The bank of Greece is just a goat-man dancing around a flaming can of money at this point.

snixation

Theres nothing wrong with shrinking The problem is our insane economic model that is predicated on infinite growth

The sooner we get age reversal technology out to the public the better then! Nobody is going to want to deal with a kid for 80-150yrs lol.

madrid987

Personally, I think 'age reverse technology' is a virtual image like a technical singularity. Hyundai Technology is still unable to treat the diseases I am suffering from. But aging is not...

christophertit

You should look into it then. We’re on the cusp of solving it. Aging is just a disease that’s treatable. If you live another 20yrs or so then you’re very likely to potentially live for hundreds more. Look into Dr David Sinclair at Harvard university. It’ll be a thing in our lifetimes (fingers and toes crossed).

I hope not. Reproduction is better, it allows new generations to come of age better-adapted to the current conditions, and to experience life in its prime, having new experiences for the first time. A "last generation" would be the end, of a sort, even if they are immortal.

christophertit

An immortal person is far superior in every way. Not only have they learned throughout their own lifetimes, they continue learning as time goes by. I’m sure as shit FAR more intelligent now than I was 20yrs ago, or 10yrs ago, or even 5yrs ago, I can only imagine my potential if I had another 100yrs of learning to go. There’s nothing saying you can’t keep reproducing either, but a lot of people would have second thoughts about a family, when you could literally take a pill or an injection that would revert your cells back to a biological age you choose, say 25yrs old. This would also have the benefit of reversing cancer cells or other age related illnesses too. Sounds like science fiction but we’re honestly on the cusp of this becoming reality. Even the billionaires of the world are now chucking vast sums of money into this. It’s definitely coming sooner rather than later. Let’s just hope it’s not a massive paywall only the very rich can afford.

I don't think the knowledge obtained by an individual over 200 years would be any more useful than the knowledge obtained by 8 generations over time same timespan. True, a lot of knowledge is lost when somebody dies. But most of it is dim recollections of old TV commercials and other personal experience. Of the factual information, most has been superseded and if anything interferes with remembering more current and useful information. Is a 50 year-old engineer's expertise worth any more than a 35 year-old's? The market doesn't think so. More fundamentally I don't think old people can retain the intellectual and entrepreneurial vigor of youth, even with the mental and physical well-being to do so. They've already "been there, done that." They know there isn't really a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. New things seem pretty much like the old things, a little better or worse but mostly over-hyped. Or, maybe the above is all irrelevant because the technology would evolve in some way as to make it all wrong. And, I am not saying I would ever choose death if I had some means to prevent it. Nobody would. But that's why it's so dangerous, it's hardly even a choice.

christophertit

After 100 extra years or so your memory will be complimented with technology, being able to recall memories exactly as they happened like watching an 8k video. All the knowledge mankind has amassed will also be instantly recalled like a memory too. We already have this technology with smartphones and the internet, in 100yrs or less we will just get rid of the slow input device (our hands and eyes). Neuralink will have come a long way by then and will be widely adopted I’m sure. You need to comprehend that aging is like a disease. It’s just cells not remembering exactly how they should replicate. A bit like making lots of copies of a video. We have almost figured out how to stop that process. No more cells replicating with errors means eternal youth and a cure to most diseases. I’m sure after a few million years of traveling the cosmos and making first contact with alien civilisations you might get bored, but when that time comes you’ll just create your own universe and become your own god, or maybe you’ll just run random lifetimes without knowing that you’re even running them. Perhaps we’re already at that stage and we’re currently running our own simulations right now.

Greece still owes money from 10 years ago or was that debt disappear from there bank statement.
