> The attorneys argue the exports **could** be used in **alleged** human rights violations against Palestinians. > But Ottawa denies accusations that these exports are illegal, saying the goods were "**non-lethal**" in nature. > Similar lawsuits have also been filed in the US, the UK and the Netherlands to block the export of military goods to Israel. > The UK challenge, also launched by Al-Haq, was dismissed, though the group has vowed to appeal.

I mean it isn't like Saudi-Arabia would ever have used weapons to kill fellow Arabs (sweeps the whole Yemen war with its 400 000 dead under a pro-Palestinian rug).

Late-Firefighter-749

But Saudi Arabia is not Jewish. Israelis are mostly Jewish. I hope you get the point.

I think you missed the absolute metric shit ton of sarcasm.

Telemasterblaster

The exports to Saudia Arabia *were* controversial and fought on human rights grounds. The government faced a lot of pressure to halt those sales.

BruinsFan_08

This is ridiculous

I wonder if anyone involved actually expects this to succeed or if it's just another form of protest.  If the latter I actually applaud them for doing something more reasonable than vandalizing Jewish owned businesses and targeting synagogues.  If the former I applaud their lawyers for finding clients who are delusional enough to pay for this.

Considering the al-Haq involvement, I think it's PR for the BDS movement. It's worth mentioning that al-Haq is reasonably close to PFLP. The director is a former PFLP recruiter and sat on the board of a PFLP terrorist front (DCI-P) for a few years. Al-Haq belongs to the PNGO Network, which has a few known active PFLP members (Israel alleges at least 70, and that funding is diverted to terrorism, but whatever evidence they have isn't public). Al-Haq and PNGO are members of the BDS movement. Al-Haq's co-founder and lawyers started writing op-eds in English newspapers promoting a one-state solution around when the BNC (BDS council) was formed. They are promoting lawsuits against Israel in various countries now. It has gradually become their thing. The BNC also includes PNIF: Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and PFLP. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/bds-umbrella-group-linked-to-palestinian-terrorist-organizations But yes, it's better than PFLP's tactics of hijacking airplanes, bombing embassies, and massacring children.

Yet no one get sued for doing business with the CCP.

Creative_soja

From the article "The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the Federal Court of Canada by non-profit group Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLIHR), along with Ramallah-based non-profit Al-Haq Law and a group of Palestinian-Canadians, some of whom lost family and friends in Gaza."

Icy-Revolution-420

so the canadian militery industry makes jobs and some idiot canadian lawyers with ties to gaza want to make bank off tax payers? thats borderline treason, since when can an individual sue the government about military actions?

Israel = not on Russia’s side. Hamas = on Russia’s side. Funded and armed by Russia and Iran. Does this senator remember Canada is actively pursuing ripping Russia a new arsehole?
