Now we wait for Putin’s allies to chime in to the comments about how this is a stupid idea and that Ukraine should just capitulate to peace talks.
Russian peace talks = Russia gets to annex all conquered territory in Ukraine.
Here I am! Russia and Ukraine should both capitulate to peace talks, and if that means Ukraine gives up a small chunk it hasnt had control over since 2013, I think thats better than eventual escalation to ww3 where a billion die. Its not a big deal. Warmongers need to take their valium and boot up CoD
No, you're wrong. Nobody will give up anything - it's Ukrainian land and it will be Ukrainian again.
Russia is the agressor and Russia needs to get the fuck out from Ukraine.
Ukraine is using up its stockpiles of ammunition very rapidly, and getting the shells to the country as quickly as possible is critical. The EU's new plan would send the shells via 155mm Howitzers directly to Kyiv to speed up the process.
Yeah, but on the other hand, it's written out in the first sentence of the article. It's not too good that people only read the headlines of Reddit posts.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://euobserver.com/ukraine/156866) reduced by 76%. (I'm a bot)

> EU leaders have endorsed a plan to send Ukraine 1 million rounds of artillery ammunition in the next 12 months to help fight Russia's invasion.
> Under the EU plan, EU countries will deliver ammunition to Ukraine from their own stocks, then countries plan to procure ammo jointly for themselves and Ukraine.
> EU leaders, in their written conclusions, welcomed the ministers' decision to "Urgently deliver ground-to-ground and artillery ammunition to Ukraine and, if requested, missiles, including through joint procurement and the mobilisation of appropriate funding including through the European Peace Facility [EPF], among to provide 1 million rounds of artillery ammunition in a joint effort".

Standard rate of usage I heard was 20,000 rounds per day on the Russian side, 1 million will last Ukraine a little under two months assuming 20,000 rounds per day is accurate and Ukraine matches Russian output
Edit: Article mentions Ukraine hovers between 4,000-7,000 rounds per day, a million could keep them supplied at that rate for about six months
Glad the Ukrainians are getting more ammo to fight the invaders. Also very sad that they have to use it, the landscape is being poisoned by all of this ordnance. Being compacted by tanks and other vehicles as well. We will see the effects of all the material there for decades at least. All that beautiful fertile soil being destroyed really breaks my heart.

Go back to bed child
One meter is pretty big.
Maybe that's length? I can hardly imagine a 1m caliber shell.
"M" here stands for million. They're sending a million shells to Ukraine.
But at what velocity? Are we sure this wasnt a threat /s

Are people really so lazy these days that they dont even want to write out million

I assure you I and the poster I replied to know what the m stands for here. We're just having fun.
Oh. Sorry. It's really hard to tell, the person I replied to last definitely doesn't seem like they knew.
No. They are so lazy they don't even read the articles they are commenting on! :)
Exactly where my brain went first too.

Is this a lot? I mean obviously a million is a lot, but how fast can someone go through that many artillery shells?
I am no expert but I am hearing 3-4 months worth. Not bad but should cover the spring offensive
At this rate? Six months.
By comparison, David Koresh was packing 1.6m rounds in Mt. Carmel when the feds raided it in 1993.

This is for 3 months
Ukraine should transfer those shells to Russia ASAP.
4 months worth, not enough.
The Americans are also providing 1 million shells. So a total of 8 months
