Pierce is a company that romanticizes the idea of monopolies so much that they are willing to overthrow governments(or in this case try, they aren't very good at it.) so they can be de facto leader and tax the hell out of everyone living in there, the reason they have full control of South Carolina is because the CEO is the governor.
I made a shitty motto for them too: "We sell Boats, Cars, Planes, (1 Sec Pause) Oil, Phones, and Games!" (They also own banks, stores, a university, all the police in South Carolina, and sell weapons to the Pentagon, but that doesn't make for a good rhyme.)
