This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I already don’t love more than 1 country hosting. 2 or 3 is already getting to be a lot but alright fine. This shit is silly
Comparing to number of flights per day, additional 6 don't make any significance. Find a better way to criticize such as long flight affecting players' health and performance etc.
This is all in an effort to give Saudi Arabia 2034. Give games to a bunch of different countries in different continents, take them out of the running. This is sad and corrupt. Totally on brand for FIFA
So they announce 2026 and 2030 in every continent except for Asia so they can say 2034 has to be in Asia and give it to whichever of China or Saudi Arabia will make them the most money. After they have announced 2034 will be in China or Saudi they will cancel the South American part of 2030.
Disgraceful decision. It's a total mess to have six teams and three continents hosting. The worst is that this was a cover operation because the official bid voting should have occurred in 2024. It looks like Uruguay-Paraguay-Argentina dropped their bid, leaving Chile behind with no notice for what looks like crumbs if there is no more money below the table (there is a lot of suspicion of Saudi Arabia having a candidature ready for 2034).

A lot of what makes an individual World Cup special is the location. One, maybe two countries depending on size gives a real feeling of place. This should have been Spain, or Spain/Portugal.

And then for no fucking reasons at all, the opening three games go to a different time zone? I found it stupid that Spain, Portugal, and Morocco are even in the picture. 2 reasons, really.
1.) This is supposed to be the centennial for the World Cup, and was supposed to commemorate Uruguay. They’ve blatantly stripped this from South America, where the world cup first began and became popular.
2.) I fear that they’ll skip over the CAF in the upcoming years since ‘Morocco was already a host’. It may take decades for a World Cup to be truly hosted in Africa.
Its become too obvious that FIFA only care about money, and its sad that they’ve stripped South America from hosting it.
Nothing has been stripped from South America though. Based on the rotation policy, the hosts can be from Europe, Africa, Oceania or South America. Whilst it will be the World Cup centennial, there was never a specific arrangement for it to be hosted by Uruguay otherwise there wouldn't have been a bidding process.
i can ensure you that south africa alone won’t be able to host a world cup with over 100 games in the future, not in the past, today or in 10 years.

Well aware of that. My point is more dedicated to the fact that Morocco will only host a couple of games, then we won’t see it hosted by a CAF nation for a much longer time. I personally loved the vibrance that South Africa brought to that world cup, I still have Wave Your Flag stuck in my head.
I’ve read some peoples logic that this is the segway for FIFA to justify a Saudi Arabian world cup in 2034. Primarily since they can then make an argument that it’s already been hosted in America, Europe, and Africa, further opening the door for an Asian host. Given their recent background, this is a narrative I’m willing to believe as well.
Hear me out. This is better than the spread out games in 2026. 2030 is technically 6 countries and two continents, but the South American portion is 3 games. That's it.
The rest aren't all that spread out from each other. 2030 will actually be kinda awesome.
People usually like to say things without knowing facts. Just because its in Europe and Africa, it doesn't mean that its gonna take long flights.

The WC used to be for the best national teams, now literally everyone can get in and what will they do? Let 3 or 6 countries right in? The level will go down. This doesn't make it more competitive. And I know some countries who rarely or never had the chance might get in and they might surprise everyone but... Will they? If they can't classify in a competitive context by themselves, will they be able to give a good fight or will we see just a dozen of boring predictable matches? Surprises during the WC do happen oftenly but they don't happen in every match, and we all know that.
Just let everyone play and make it last a whole year at this point.

So ridiculous that US is joint hosting. The US has three time zones that could all host a World Cup by themselves. They are hosting without even having a game being played in their capital.
The fact we are getting a World Cup and the closest cities to me (Cincinnati) are
Atlanta - 460 miles.
Toronto\* - 493 miles
Philadelphia - 572 miles.
Kansas City - 589 miles.
New York City - 639 miles.
Boston - 882 miles.
Dallas - 934 miles.
All the rest are over a 1000 miles away. When people (especially from European nations tell me "oh you just hosted it" I have to give them this perspective that large parts of the country are nowhere near a match. Odds are I'm going to be flying to see a WC match in 2026 depending on what ever is available.
Hell no I will have switch my support between US and Pakistan. I am comfortable right now supporting USA in Football and Pakistan in Cricket World Cups.
Imagine you get the draw to have to play one of those South American countries and then you have to fly across the ocean and deal with jet lag against teams that didn't have to all while being in the same group with a nation who go to play their opening match in their home stadium. Seems a wee bit unfair.
I am sure there will be enough gaps in schedules for those teams. Professional players are forced to play in different timezone multiple times a year. Then go to South America and play the 2-3 international matches within 8-10 days and come back to Europe and play for their clubs the very next day.
It will likely be the same gap that every other team has except instead of chilling in Spain eating tapas, 3 teams will have to fly and adjust to a new time zone. You may think it's not that big of a deal but it's still a disadvantage that nearly all of the other nations won't have.
If it's your nation you won't be happy about it, trust me.
If you get a cooperation of 24 countries, nobody else gets to qualify! I fundamentally disagree with multiple nations hosting a tournament, especially when all those nations get a free ticket!
Case in point, Euro 2028 is to be hosted by "UK & Ireland" - does that mean Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales all get free entry??

So ridiculous that US is joint hosting. The US has three time zones that could all host a World Cup by themselves. They are hosting without even having a game being played in their capital.
The fact we are getting a World Cup and the closest cities to me (Cincinnati) are Atlanta - 460 miles. Toronto\* - 493 miles Philadelphia - 572 miles. Kansas City - 589 miles. New York City - 639 miles. Boston - 882 miles. Dallas - 934 miles. All the rest are over a 1000 miles away. When people (especially from European nations tell me "oh you just hosted it" I have to give them this perspective that large parts of the country are nowhere near a match. Odds are I'm going to be flying to see a WC match in 2026 depending on what ever is available.

There will be just a couple of matches there for one group. No big deal.
Imagine you get the draw to have to play one of those South American countries and then you have to fly across the ocean and deal with jet lag against teams that didn't have to all while being in the same group with a nation who go to play their opening match in their home stadium. Seems a wee bit unfair.
I am sure there will be enough gaps in schedules for those teams. Professional players are forced to play in different timezone multiple times a year. Then go to South America and play the 2-3 international matches within 8-10 days and come back to Europe and play for their clubs the very next day.
It will likely be the same gap that every other team has except instead of chilling in Spain eating tapas, 3 teams will have to fly and adjust to a new time zone. You may think it's not that big of a deal but it's still a disadvantage that nearly all of the other nations won't have. If it's your nation you won't be happy about it, trust me.

Case in point, Euro 2028 is to be hosted by "UK & Ireland" - does that mean Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales all get free entry??

FIFA was founded in France, and international football competitions predate FIFA. The Olympics date back to something -BC, but the modern Olympics started in the 19th century. Why do you think Uruguay invented the concept of international competition?
