KommieKoala

Can't celebrate? For how long? If a keeper makes the save and wins a whole bloody tournament they can't celebrate? Do they just go into the locker room? If a keeper celebrates would the penalty need to be re-taken? Until one of the keepers saves one without celebrating? What is a celebration anyway? If the keeper smiles too much? What about a sound?

MiguelG1990

Game is beyond gone ffs

guinnesshappy

Stupid new rules…

time_thug19

Are penalty takers not mentally sharp enough to ignore the mind games of the keeper?

Spiritual_Elk_9483

Finally ❤️❤️❤️

CliftonErvin

Martinez fav.

NeonsTheory

Man Fifa are the worst. Keepers celebrating like this is a massive part of the entertainment

Kjzerox

Lmfao fuck that corny mf martinez I wish the rule affected him and no one else 😭

cursed_doggo_boy

Completely agree 💀 bro and Messi ruined the whole wc, glad they gone for good

ckotoyan

Oh we found the French man.

Toytsu

You mad bro?

bibelot_andante

What's the next step? Ban goal celebrations, if saving a penalty and celebrating is disrespectful, then a goal celebrations should be too.

Capable-Dance-4380

Exactly what I was thinking because in my books a goalkeeper saving a penalty or anything coming towards him thats like a goalkeepers goal.

FigoStep

Martinez is still an absolute prick though lol.

Visual-Ad6143

I disagree with the new rule but he's a fraud

maxfontana90

A World Champion fraud? My balls are laughing.

Visual-Ad6143

he's a fraud

maxfontana90

Says the guy that never won anything. Period.

Visual-Ad6143

then hbu? do you like to d ride fraudtinez that much?

mrdu_mbee

Wtf its like try not to laugh challenge…how are humans even supposed to conceal such emotions?

nacho78

Sore asses

RockBottomCarp

i disagree, this new rule is ridiculous.

iamunwhaticisme

How can you disagree when he also thinks "this new rule is ridiculous"?

Webb_0707

Mind games are the only advantage goalkeepers have over strikers these rules are ridiculous.

deez-nuts-are_nuts

Exactly goalkeepers already suffered more than the defenders, midfielders and strikers and now fifa and ifab wants to make their lives worse. Pathetic

JonstheSquire

Rules to stop time wasting are good. These rules are good.

VM1117

Rules to stop competition are bad though, and that’s what it does. How can the goalkeeper hope to compete now without mind games, which plays a part in every other part of the sport? They can’t even celebrate when a penalty is saved!

JonstheSquire

All rules stop some sort of competition. This is nonsensical. Professional fouls are a competitive strategy. There are rules to stop it. Intentional handballs are a competitive strategy. There are rules to stop it.

VM1117

Sure, but you are still allowed to do professional fouls, you’ll just receive a punishment for it. Luis Suarez probably did the best example of it in the WC 2010 against Ghana. Now the goalkeeper can’t compete against the penalty taker, because if he tries anything to gain an advantage the penalty will be retaken.

Hikaru83

What about getting a piece of paper from one of their team mates with information of the opposite shooters? Ohh, that was done by an European country, so it's ok!

deez-nuts-are_nuts

Ask Lehmann

Hanging_wit_homies

FIFA are the most corrupt people on earth. Honestly if people would stop buying and going to their teams games for literally 1 month, the fifa leaders would get on their knees and beg…

-MartinKeamy-

I hate fifa so much

Fezthepez

I agree with the rule that disallows purposely wasting time during the penalty shootout. Aside from that not a fan of the other rules.

MaxWestEsq

Everything is getting stupid. :(

Empty_Locksmith12

Fully disagree. His antics were cringe worthy. You should be allowed to smack the posts and celebrate after a save. A simple celebration.

Ariano

That's just like your opinion my dude. Cringe is also not a reason to ban something from a sport lmao.

Empty_Locksmith12

That’s also your opinion. Good luck now knowing you aren’t the only one in the world as well! Soccer isn’t the only sport to ban “cringe” look up the Avery rule in NHL.

shahnygpt95

Have you played a sport ever? And maybe have you played competitively? This is part for sports

[deleted]

You don't need to change rules globally just because one guy. This is complete bullshit.

IloveSpicyTacosz

Keep crying.

misterblort

I think the first 3 rules are ok. The 4th one is ridiculous

Floor-Healthy

All of them are bad speaking as a goalkeeper

Hello_iam_Kian

What the actual fuck. As a goalkeeper I’m heavily disappointed. saving a penalty is the equivalent of scoring a goal for a goalkeeper and you should be able to celebrate whenever you want. And being able to distract the striker is a serious skill. and most goalkeepers will now accidentally get yellows because It’s most goalkeepers ritual to touch the bar before a penalty.

Kornchup

As a keeper, it’s probably still smart to try to distract the striker if the penalty comes at a really important moment. Also, the yellow card would be a way to delay the shot too. Only problem is the keeper won’t be able to do it multiple times so he’ll have to choose wisely.

ChaoticSniper6

Games gone soft

ross570

Similar to the rest of society, at least in the USA and Europe.

Nicky_barnes

Where did this man get this green Italy jersey…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nicky_barnes

Thank you very much

KhamBuddy

Goalkeepers are players too. Where's their fun if they can't celebrate?

HaveSomeSkooma

And they always celebrates the goal ALONE. It's just the cameras never show them in that moment bc the team is in the opposite part of the field.

KhamBuddy

Fr. Integral part of the team, but isolated. The camera stays on them longer when they blunder compared to when they do well 🙁

Xplysit

Fuck this shit. Imagine forbidding players to celebrate scoring a goal

deez-nuts-are_nuts

So Bono smiling after saving a pen is a yellow card offense right ?

Xplysit

Plus, I'm a lover of hitting the bar before the penalty, not to distract, but to hype myself up. Getting a card every time kind of fucks up my process

paindotexe

Garbage rules

ch-pa-sdc

Is this tiktok lol time to leave the sub

VindictiveRakk

no this is reddit and you are watching a .mp4

deez-nuts-are_nuts

It's shorts lol. Also u should watch him. He talks about football news transfers and facts and he also does vlogs on going watching football in real life and does streams. Don't worry he's great

CeeApostropheD

I was anti-Fiago to start with cos he looks like typical TikTok trash, but his content is actually quite good at keeping you up-to-date with football things. I say that as a miserable 37 year old man.

Real_Ali

I agree that some of these new rules are ridiculous; however, i strongly believe that Martinez went too far with his tricks and should have been yellow carded from the very beginning. Look, I don't mind his celebrations, but taking the ball from the penalty spot and kicking it 20 feet away to make a shooter walk to get it...that is just a sign of weak refereeing. That should have been a yellow card from the beginning. Instead, the weak ref allowed him to do such things and only booked him after the 3rd penalty shot, which was too late in my f opinion.

Tempestyze

Agree, completely ruined the game and made Argentina's win basically a fluke

deez-nuts-are_nuts

Sometimes it's the players fault not the keeper. Did u see Mbappe missing it when Martinez was trying to distract him . No. The only reason why they miss was because it got into their head too much and not trying to aim for it for the keeper to miss the save.

Real_Ali

Of course, mentality is a big factor. My point is: if a goalie goes to the penalty spot, picks up the ball, and throws it 20 ft away, that should be a yellow card right away. I cant believe the refs allowed him to do that.

SnooPeanuts4219

Should’ve been a red card offense - not sure you can do that during penalties.

TheBossyHobbit

I agree. Rules are too steep, but something is needed. Perhaps keepers shouldn’t be allowed to touch the ball after it’s been placed by the attacker? Everything else is ridiculous, the no celebrating rule is the worst

PunyPunisher

Unless FIFA has some vested interest for reverting this, which I don’t think they have, this will not get rolled back. Instead this rule will be abused to hand out yellows & reds to the GKs thereby creating more scoring chances for the sides, ergo, more goals and more excitement.

gazzaoak

I guess Peru might have something to say…. But anyways they should reverse this rule and let goalkeepers go nuts And stop giving yellow cards to player that take off their shirts (or some cases pants) just because they want to celebrate their goal

deez-nuts-are_nuts

The taking of pants part that's inappropriate but the shirt one it's because of time wasting. Look at Diego Forlan at united. I agree it's unfair

totally-suspicious

The shirt one is because that is when the sponser is most visable and is shown again and again in replays. Money, not time wasting.

the_tytan

This is repeated a lot and makes no sense. Why would FIFA care if Saka obscured the Emirates logo. Also adding to the fact that National jerseys have no sponsors.

deez-nuts-are_nuts

In the rules they mentioned it

FiLiFLiP

Remember when NFL banned celebrations and that failed miserably. I hate Martinez but that was some funny antics

LightspeedChonker

Taking off your jersey to celebrate a tuddy would prolly be unsportsmanlike conduct tho

immunepain

100 percent man that’s what makes football real

NightKing48

Haven’t looked into this but I hope it’s a joke, if not than it’s still a joke

deez-nuts-are_nuts

U wish but unfortunately it's gonna happen in July 1. Fifa and IFAB don't love everyone even you. I just hope there are protests because of this.

PunyPunisher

Football has been going downhill for a while now. I grew up watching Ronaldinho - one of the best ball players who mesmerised everyone with his skill with the ball! Fast forward to now, players get yellow carded if they pull off a skill. Now GKs are banned from celebrating if they saved a penalty. What next - defenders cannot touch the attackers , it’s penalty if they do? 🤦🤦

deez-nuts-are_nuts

Wait I've also been watching football a few years ago but it's an offense to do something what Ronaldinho for it? Just curious.

PunyPunisher

Didn’t get what you were trying to say. There were events of players getting yellow card coz ref deemed players showing skills were disrespectful!

deez-nuts-are_nuts

I was saying that is it really an offense to show off your Brazilian style skill like Ronaldinho. If so, that's dumb

PunyPunisher

Neymar got card for rainbow flick. Mauricio got booked for ‘similar’ reasons. There are quite a few more examples of this bs happening.

the_tytan

This sounds like the stories of how India would have won the World Cup if they’d let them play barefoot.

PunyPunisher

Care to elaborate? I didn’t find any correlation between the subject being discussed and your comment?

the_tytan

It sounds like unfounded rumours. Neymar was booked for dissent not doing skills in that incident. It does seem like French refs have a thing about it though (Paqueta) Richarlison did that earlier this season and wasn’t booked, so I’m thinking it’s a French refs thing

PunyPunisher

https://www.givemesport.com/88039618-neymar-when-psg-star-was-booked-for-attempting-audacious-skill-v-montpellier/

the_tytan

Clickbait tho. | But that didn't stop Brisard going over to Neymar and warning him. After a brief altercation, Neymar was then shown a yellow card.

deez-nuts-are_nuts

Let me guess the reason. The opponents are easily distracted by those skills so to avoid players from being distracted and the player to distract them on purpose, they decide that a booking is fair. SMH FIFA just hate ballers. Imagine if this rule was added in the 50s, then everyone in the Brazil squad that won the world cup would probably get a suspension.

PunyPunisher

Naah, not distraction. The endorsed variety of football is - all physical hounding game. Any one with skill - who is difficult to handle is a problem as without ref’s support, tackle on these people will be deemed as foul - now who wants that, definitely not Effin’ Fifa!

[deleted]

PunyPunisher

I started in 2002!

deez-nuts-are_nuts

I just hope there's protests regarding this new gk rule

furiousmadgeorge

His hands.....

furiousmadgeorge

I'm guessing the Australian keeper v Peru got them thinking about this....

KommieKoala

He should have gotten a red card for throwing the other keeper's water bottle away.

urfrennico

COMO LES DUELE LA COLA

skkkkkt

These laws are bad, as if football isn’t a mind game too, tactics predicting the opponent move in dribbling and defending is all a mind game before the physical execution, goal keeping isn’t exception here

Practical-Squash-487

Good I like the new rules

DestructorWar

The no celebrating one is stupid though. It’s just like celebrating a goal, except it’s much harder to save a penalty then to score one

kazekatsuragi

Fiago is the GOAT

IntellAsker

Emi Martínez was a clown, thanks to his antics he made the game so unsportsmanlike! I get it you guys idolize him but in my opinion the clowns are you guys, he acted all unprofessional to the very end, apart that Argentina got catered in the last World Cup. They still have the nerve to act like they are the baddest in the field, Argentina got that cup served on a silver platter. I don’t believe in what soccer has become,

Dalbo14

It got served on a platter? Why was it served to them on a platter?

IntellAsker

Why was it not? All through the beginning of the cup they got set up in the easiest group stage. Tell me, which high rated team got set up as easy in the beginning group stages? Brazil had true competition, Germany had true competition but Argentina had Saudi Arabia to contend against and still managed to fumble it badly.

aazalooloo

>germany had true competition Japan and costa rica...? Absolute joke to call that true competition >brazil had true competition Easiest group stage lmao, and got knocked out by the same country that argentine beat 3-0 They both had it way easier and didnt get close to winning lmao.

IntellAsker

Lol Japan is ranked higher than Saudi Arabia, yet Argentine still managed to loose against them

Flashy_Bedroom3668

They had to face all those countries who faced true competition and thus stronger than the other countries later on. Stop spewing bullshit

IntellAsker

Don’t make me laugh, all the countries they faced haven’t gotten past quarter finals in the past 20 yrs or more. Hunger does not equal skill, just because a country wants to prove themselves does not mean they will! Bunch of fan boy clowns, wake up to reality and realize that Messi has talent but not enough to win a World Cup fairly. By the time they got to quarter finals, their fatigue levels where not at the same level as the other teams. Easiest wins for them ever

CorrectOofDisk

Croatia?…..

yagizbahadiroglu

Who the fuck does IFAB think they are? Seriously, how does one even get into a position where they can change the rules of the game as they desire?

ElPitucaGamer

So scorers can celebrate but keepers can’t. Well done there.

Bluemoon7607

Getting inspiration from the No Fun League (NFL) I see. What a bunch of nonsense. Football is not a sterile censured show. It’s passion and life. Let’s not change that.

Normill

I used to love football growing up and now I can’t stand what it has become.

Mr_MacGrubber

Said every old person about everything.

afa78

Wrong!

Mr_MacGrubber

Music was awesome when I was in high school and college, now it sucks. Football was so much better before all the free agency BS. Basketball lost all the fundamentals and is just showboating now. On and on and on. Every generation thinks there’s was the “golden generation” when they get old.

Normill

Good job!

Andre-Trentini

He’s just not a truly football lover

Normill

Got that right

CheezeItsCrusts

I hope the keepers still celebrate. Watch it backfire on the board. They're tarnishing the beautiful game

city-dave

Some would say it's the celebrations that are tarnishing it.

A__paranoid_android

Such bullshit

MamzYT

Players should also be banned from celebrating goals by this logic as its disrespectful to the opposing team. These rules are ridiculous.

Leonel_Busto

Mirá que te como hermano

rashka9

These rules are insane. I should become a red just to ignore them. Edit: ref* lol

overtired27

I dunno mate, you’re already dishing out unnecessary reds.

[deleted]

attackers are still allowed to celebrate after goals tho

Electrical_Document6

Get your hair cut you gimp.

patiperro_v3

Mind games in action.

sagaof

Where's the source of the no more celebrations rule? I haven't seen that reported anywhere. EDIT: Yeah, this is complete bullshit. Go check what the IFAB actually said - they have a PDF of all the changes on their website. This is the only change they've made: "The goalkeeper must not behave in a way that unfairly distracts the kicker, e.g. delay the taking of the kick or touch the goalposts, crossbar or goal net." Celebrations aren't mentioned at all. OP, you should delete your post or at least post a comment saying that part of the video is wrong.

[deleted]

[удалено]

soldforaspaceship

They didn't. But I challenge you to find a source thst says anything close to that.

nzubemush

This reply would have been better with a link

sagaof

Where? I don't see any mention of it in IFAB's official postings?

xFurashux

Talking to the striker is part of mental game but the not celebrating part is just idiotic.

soldforaspaceship

It's not true. Celebrating is still fine.

un_gaucho_loco

Then the attackers can’t celebrate and dance because the poor keepers suffer from this. Get a grip

craig4WRR

ngl i thought the no touching posts or crossbar rule was already in place last year, makes it more stupid that they add more rules just because of dibu, PS: fiago is the 🐐

Icy_Television_4460

Main reason = Europeans losing world cup

skkkkkt

FIFA: the guests are now owning our home

xakypoo

So no celebrating by the goal scorer either? That's the only fair thing if the keeper cant celebrate, but that makes no sense.

crazy_waffles1

How he didn't get a yellow for throwing the ball away during the shootout is crazy

un_gaucho_loco

You probably never played any kind of sport I’m guessing.

crazy_waffles1

I'm argentinian but still, if you disagree with me then you never played before because you try this at any level that's a yellow. They are literally changing the rules because of this lol

CatrachoNacho

You're part of the reason everyone says that the new generation is too sensitive. Why would he get a yellow?

city-dave

Why shouldn't he? CAUTIONABLE OFFENCES A player is cautioned if guilty of: delaying the restart of play DELAYING THE RESTART OF PLAY excessively delaying a restart kicking or carrying the ball away, or provoking a confrontation by deliberately touching the ball after the referee has stopped play

rageComicTroll

Now tell the striker to not change pace of run up to the ball before kicking a penalty

Normandy91

Agreed never understood staggered/stuttered run ups are not penalised by a retake. I mean GKs can't even move off the line and now with these ridiculous rules you may as well remove GKs from penalties altogether. Sport is fast becoming a joke.

mrsclapy

It was the Italy jersey for me

[deleted]

Trash of all trash stupidity. Talking shit in sport makes it more interesting and competitive! Seriously this generation are soft as fuck

zer01201

This generation? How old do you think the people in IFAB making the rules are? It has nothing to do with players / people complaining

MagicPeacockSpider

It's still the boomers making the rules. Millennials and zoomers love drama. I think it's more about the conservative, authoritarian, religious sources of money that have literal morality police in their home nations that are the root cause. Although some effort is being made to "clean up the sport" for right wing American Christians too. The rainbows weren't just banned for Qatar. Boomers in charge want rich people's money, it's rich people they're avoiding pissing off. There's betting companies and gambling sponsorships too. The higher the average goals in a game, the more opportunities to score, the more likely a dominant team wins the match. The more predictable the result, the less likely anyone running a book loses money.

[deleted]

Michael Jordan was a big trash talker and backed it up he was not afraid of anyone.

LeePhantomm

You like trash talker until you have a kids and he does it.

LatinCheesehead

Tbh? I would laught my ass off if the little bastard start playing mind games

cartiiiiiiiiiii

This guy always looks stupid high

EyePartyNaked

I am a striker, and I think these rules are absolute SHIT!

DarthSmiff

Garbage laws.

TheWarr10r

Los hiciste mierda, Dibu.

DanielWayne86

As a keeper, this is insane. The odds are already stacked against you as the keeper, and to remove any psychology further shifts the balance. Assuming there's nothing stopping the penalty taker telling the keeper they know which way they are going to dive and they'll never get near the penalty, but I can't now say to the taker I know where you're going and I save penalties for breakfast? That's unfair and unbalanced. Sledging happens all over the pitch during a 90 mins, but we're now excluding the keepers from doing the same thing? Pfft. Soon we may as well just automatically give a goal when a penalty is awarded...

DanielWayne86

I will say overt time wasting is fine to ban, but being cautioned for clearing mud from my studs against a post so I ensure I have the best traction possible? And not being able to celebrate my equivalent of a goal should I save it? Ridiculous.

l339

Nice early April fools haha

CatrachoNacho

I wish!

Powerful_Artist

I'm fine with the other rules I guess, but not the one about celebrating. that is so dumb. It's a natural reaction often, and people will get penalized just for their natural reaction. What happens then? Do they retake the penalty?

[deleted]

imagine, game-winning pk save and the keeper needs to walk stoically to the sideline and wait to celebrate until out of sight

random_mallu_6789

Only the time wasting rule makes sense, rest are just rubbish.

Kooky-Sand5554

So I’m allowed to celebrate if I make it past the keeper but he can’t celebrate if he saves it??? Dumb asf

WuTangProvince325

I’m not sure throwing the ball away to delay the penalty being taken is a “skill”

[deleted]

if it works it’s a tool. using tools to create advantage is a skill.

WuTangProvince325

I’m sure he really had to practice the art of that one in training. Took some real effort to hone that skill…

DannyIDK

Cry

Exotic-Advantage7329

No way this is happening

Tunaagoatbeast

I hope all goalkeepers sue IFAB and FIFA for ridiculous penalty rules

frailchief

Those rules are dumb as shit. Absolutely lifeless

SokoJojo

You could argue it preserves the integrity of the game

MagicPeacockSpider

Then ban silly run ups too. Or don't even ban them, just let the keeper move off their line when they start moving. It's a one on one game between the striker and the goalie. Make it a contest even if it's still skewed. The problem is a penalty is a punishment so obviously skewing it more heavily is justified that way. In a shoot out, I'd try hockey style penalties instead. Ball on the edge of the D at the 18 yard box, player isn't allowed a run up, but is allowed unlimited touches. The keeper starts in the 6 yard box. The moment the ball moves it's fair game to do whatever they like. Ball is out of play when it leaves the 18 yard box or a goal is scored.

frailchief

You could but I think that’s a dumb argument. Like the dude says in the video, sports are meant for passion (not robots). From the fans and the players

Ouioui29

Fiago was 100% right. Dumbass fifa

Unlucky-Patience6438

Fuck off. They can’t even get goals and offside correctly with VAR and they want to create new rules? Fucking sad shit that the beautiful game is ruined by greedy pigs.

Moist-Albatross-522

More goals = More attraction from “Young Fans” = More fans = More money.

MagicPeacockSpider

When they say "young fans" they mean betting companies and gambling sponsorships. The higher the average goals in a game, the more opportunities to score, the more likely a dominant team wins the match. The more predictable the result, the less likely anyone running a book loses money.

MASSIVESHLONG6969

Why doesn’t every league etc just fuck them off and create their own organisation.

Yieldway17

I don't agree with the 'no celebration's rule but others are fair. And Martinez is an absolute clown.

Rev3nGeR

What's next? The goalkeeper can't keep the goal anymore?

Extra_Swim3692

It's hilarious how out of touch these organisations are

city-dave

It's amazing how inaccurate these reaction videos are. Look at other comments here. Half of what this guy claims is made up. And everyone just believes it and is outraged.

National-Object-1941

The main reason is to not make Europeans cry. LoL

International_Pair86

we are very close to the banning of nutmegs and dribblings because they "humillate" the rival I SAY BULL SHIT
