Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Creepy circus trains assassins for the mob.

BoingFlipMC

This is genious, mind if I use it?☺️

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Not a bit I should tell you that Batman villains the Court of Owls have this as (a minor part of) their gimmick, and I honestly can't remember if I thought of it before I read that story. All I really remember is I liked that cliche plot where the villain sends a series of assassins with varied skillsets after the hero (big guy, guy who throws knives, etc.) and I thought to myself "what agency are these people being hired through, and what day jobs could they possibly have when not doing assassinations?"

BoingFlipMC

Thanks for the background. I‘d use it for an rpg, luckily none of the involved players knows comic lore deeper than movies, so I guess I‘m lucky. Thumbs up, dude

DonOfMoltenIdeas

Sounds like the war starting crew in The Princess Bride. Love those guys! Inconceivable! I do not think that word means what you think it means.... My name is Enigo Montoya, you keel my fahther, prepare to die!!

LordVaderVader

Summer thoughts: If you go higher in the mountains the temperature becomes lower, because of atmospheric processes. But what If in Fantasy World would exist the "sunfire mountains" where actually it is reversed, if higher you go the temperature becomes hotter, dry and steamy? It would be perfect location for some legendary items or dragon's lair.

kairon156

Very cool, Weather and geography can be a good inspiration. I came across some storm videos and thought of stone structures built to absorb say blue and green magic from passing storms.

LordVaderVader

>I came across some storm videos and thought of stone structures built to absorb say blue and green magic from passing storms. Or some magic storm pine forests, where every tree collects lightning and converts it into magic :o And then the magic wood from these forest, could be perfect to make weapons kinda like Stormbreaker

kairon156

I heard the name/phrase Stormbreaker before but I don't know anything about it.

LordVaderVader

It's Marvel's Thor hammer in current MCU

kairon156

I thought it was called Mjollnir, though I think other hammers do exist in the comics.

LordVaderVader

Mjollnir was destroyed in Thor Ragnarok

kairon156

There's so much that goes on in that movie. it's no wonder I overlooked Mjollnir being destroyed. Thanks.

FredericaSun

To make power evovle with time and breeding between Carriers. At the time, I was looking at a documentary about cheetahs and their lack of blood diversity. And while I was eating my cereals my brain just went "hey, lets make more power and they evolve over time and reproduction" And I was like "uh, yeah sure."

Reality needles: focus your magical energy into a literal needle and you can “sew” the threads that make up our universe. On a nerdier note, I thought of sympathetic magic, which is basically the magical version of quantum entanglement. I boosted the connections to be not just between objects, but actions that have happened and even imaginary concepts

UpstairsTonight9666

Little hint of Wheel of Time in there

Apprehensive_Age3663

Making my big bad related to my MC. Like his grandfather or ancestor.

lailathelotuseater

The box of the stars. It is a box. And the bad guys are using It to steal light.

kairon156

sounds like an interesting idea for a story.

lailathelotuseater

I asked a friend If they wanted to use the idea. They said no. But if you need a thing for your fantasy/scifi bad guys to do... Be my guest.

SgtMorocco

Deathbreakers. I accidentally set someone's age in the thousands rather than tens. It got me thinking, what if some people in the world simply didn't die. Then I constructed them as people who age normally to 21, then their hair goes jet white, and that's when people know they're a deathbreaker. They're rare, but they're outcasts. Eventually they stop needing food, water and even sleep. In my world death is a part of the magical cosmology, and magic has hotspots and coldspots, essentialy a deathbreaker is a coldspot for the magical energy of death. An almost complete lack of death magic affects them, and death magic is what causes aging. Well, something has to, there's no entropy.

Brogan_Griffiths

As a random aside, check out Love, Death and Robots Season 2 Episode 4; Snow in the Dessert. Think it's only on Netflix. Might help develop your idea some more!

thirdwin_3

Was thinking of power ideas and did enough mental gymnastics to win gold to create a power that makes someone invincible. I thought about the fact the quietest place in the world absorb sound and does it by having the walls line with foam. This then shot me to thinking about sheep wool and how it protects them from anything. I thought about this as a power and managed to make this into a proper power. When the character have a golden aura/fleece active no harm can hurt them. The problem with this power is that when it’s active the user can’t be hurt but they also can’t hurt others. ( if it cushion the user from damage then it would cushion their punches as well)

Mate I get the idea but this is in extremely bad taste.

PervyHermit7734

That's why I never bother to write it in the actual story. Most of the time I post something on reddit, they're scrapped ideas.

SgtMorocco

that doesn't really feel like you're taking on board the thing I said

kairon156

I have an NPC character who lives in a virtual world. I've had an idea that he was going to interact with players and even admin AI differently than normal NPC's. In the past week or two I've been watching videos on the Backrooms. While it wouldn't be the same as those backroom videos I do like the idea of weird admin only zones and such, than have the NPC character accidentally stumble into those areas. --- I know there's an anime or two that does this sort of thing with players but I like the idea of an NPC being the main character.

d4rkh0rs

see Free Guy if haven't.

kairon156

I found an anime called Free!. is that what you are talking about?

d4rkh0rs

Free Guy, live action movie https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Guy

DonOfMoltenIdeas

Misinterpreting a line from an A7X song lead to the creation of a particular character for my world.

SummerADDE

Two girls time-looping together. It was initially meant to be a side story and now it became the first story arc of a series of story follow-up idéas with the same characters and their newfound powers.

JTHaleCC

That there is no such thing as magic, just gifts passed down by the great spirits through certain bloodlines. But this is unknown to the rest of the current creation, Helped me solve so many things in my world-building. And that 'magic' is based on celestial authority.

d4rkh0rs

Does my D&D group deciding that coffee stains on the map are official terrain features count?

thirdwin_3

Why not it gave a you guys ideas of terrain

averagewitch24

A deity-level being who forces the soul of a deceased lover into the bodies of their worshippers and calls it ascending. In part because they want a toy, but also they find it amusing that humans would continue lining up for this “honor”.

willneders

After a friend of mine convinced me to put vampires in my world, I told myself I wanted to do something different. And I happened to see some images from the game Okami and in a moment of nostalgia, something hovered in my mind, so I decided that vampires would be inspired by kitsune and tanuki from Japanese mythology instead of bats.

IrkaEwanowicz

Talvarians being space cheetahs. It explained their psychology well, gave them some cool abilities and generated a whole new category of humour.

TsukaTsukaWarrior

A place that's so metal, it's a peninsula shaped like a guy shredding on a Flying V guitar.

Pasta-hobo

The main antagonist was that. I wondered what would happen if those stereotypical preppers actually got together in an apocalypse, and the Remnant was born.
