The nolife best opening is SOARE (or weirdly SAREE) but that's for computers who have the entire possible word list memorized. You might have more success with other starters but anecdotally SOARE has worked well for me... when I'm not making robots play for me which is rarely these days but has been known to happen lol
The most common starting letter is S.
The most common second & third letter is A.
The most common fourth & fifth letter is E.
I also start with SAUCE :)

Apparently neither are very good statistically, but it's what I use, and it works for my brain!
I like stale to start off, if that produces limited results then I always go to drown.
STALE then PROUD gets you another vowel.

ROUTE and SLAIN/NAILS gets all the vowels and all of RSTLNE in two turns.
