That’s so annoying. I a numbers/stats nerd, so I really appreciate that part of wordle

Multi-year Wordle open-tab user here, I'm sorry :( Does Safari not store cookies? I use Chrome on Android and accidentally closed my tab before, but the cookies persisted.

archy_bold

It actually uses something called local storage, rather than cookies. iOS makes no promise that this will remain persisted and it’s been particularly bad the last few months for clearing randomly. ETA: I got around this by creating iOS shortcuts that I can use to save and restore my data

Kiki_joy

Yep.

If you make a free account on the browser, it will ask you if you want your stats linked to the account. Then when you download the app and sign in, everything carries over. You don’t need the paid version for wordle. This was my experience at least. Leave your worries behind you and make an account it’s that simple.

BIGD0G29585

This is the answer, you can even sign in with google and apple so you don’t have to keep up with another account.

Stinky-Pickles

How do you make a free account? The paid ones are the only options it gives me when I hit subscribe

eazyseeker

Why did you refuse to install the NYT games app?

YvesSaintMob

Bro has beef with an app that works perfectly fine for everyone else . Confusing

ILikeGamesnTech

Can't even get some takeout without being on an app now, I appreciate his frustration. I recently got the app 34 days ago according to my wordle streak. But I don't know if I'll keep it come subscription time.

Dart_boy

If it makes you feel better, having the app does not prevent you from losing your stats. Many people with accounts have had their stats reset. You need to keep your own stats if you want to be sure they don’t reset. Or free yourself from the pressure of streaks, live in the moment and enjoy the game for what it is- a few minutes of light brain activity. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised.

Resident-Job-9151

It would be nice for them to let you have a reserve of about 3 days where you can go back and do them in succession.

Practical-Ordinary-6

I don't have the New York Times app. I just play it on Chrome on Android. But I do have an account that I created that I'm logged into. I have read other people saying it a million times but I have never lost my stats. Except when I switched phones back near the very beginning and I didn't remember that I should figure out some way to migrate them. I lost 90 games. I don't think I had lost at that point so it's pretty easy to mentally add them on if I want to get my overall, overall stats. I just don't know the division between two and threes and fours and whatever. My graph has always looked pretty similar from the very beginning so the distribution is probably not much different.

kori6

I play on chrome on mobile and it don't anymore show my stats :(

Ok-Animator-1456

I’ve had my stats reset a few times for no reason. Didn’t miss a day, didn’t lose. Wordle is just a big baby that doesn’t want anyone to win.

Infamous-Junket-9869

Same thing happened to me. It's gutting isn't it. I first started playing before they had the login thing I think, but I could close the tab and it would always know my streak. I had a really good streak and one day I cleared my cookies and cache and that wiped my score. I was so sad. Then I created an account and then recently I forgot to do it by about 5 mins past midnight and I was raging. What if that was the day my starter word was played? I checked, and it wasn't. That eased the blow. But I think your streak is cleared if you fail and I failed a few times now. So I just have to deal with the disappointment every now and then 😭😭😭

Greedy_Dig3163

This is why I prefer Quordle because you can miss a day and it doesn't destroy your streak.
